1Halleluja! Ik heb Jahweh lief, Want Hij hoort naar mijn smeken!
1I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice— my appeal for mercy.
2Hij luisterde naar mij, toen ik riep
2Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
3En de strikken des doods mij omknelden; Toen doodsangst mij kwelde, Nood en jammer mij troffen.
3The ropes of death entangled me; the anguish of Sheol overcame me; I was confronted by trouble and sorrow.
4Ik riep de Naam van Jahweh aan: “Ach, Jahweh, spaar toch mijn leven!”
4Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, deliver my soul!”
5En Jahweh was genadig en trouw, Onze God vol ontferming:
5The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
6Jahweh waakt over de zwakken; Ik was uitgeput, maar Jahweh heeft mij gered!
6The LORD preserves the simplehearted; I was helpless, and He saved me.
7Wees dan gelaten, mijn ziel; Want Jahweh blijft voor u zorgen:
7Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
8Hij heeft mij gered van de dood, Mijn ogen van tranen, mijn voeten van stoten;
8For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
9Nog mag ik voor Jahweh’s aanschijn wandelen In de landen der levenden!
9I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10Ik blijf dus vertrouwen, al roep ik ook uit: “Ik ben diep ongelukkig!”
10I believed, therefore I said, “I am greatly afflicted.”
11Al zou ik in mijn ellende ook zeggen: “Er is geen mens te vertrouwen!”
11In my alarm I said, “All men are liars!”
12Hoe zal ik Jahweh kunnen vergelden Al het goede, dat Hij mij deed?
12How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me?
13De kelk der redding hef ik omhoog, En roep de Naam van Jahweh aan;
13I will lift the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
14Ik zal mijn gelofte aan Jahweh volbrengen Ten overstaan van heel het volk:
14I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.
15Want te duur was in de ogen van Jahweh De dood zijner vromen.
15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
16Ach Jahweh, ik ben maar uw knecht, de zoon van uw dienstmaagd, Toch hebt Gij mijn boeien verbroken:
16Truly, O LORD, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.
17Ik breng U dan een offer van dank, En roep de Naam van Jahweh aan,
17I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.

18I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,
19In de voorhoven van Jahweh’s huis, Binnen uw muren, Jerusalem!
19in the courts of the LORD’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
