1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

1ส่วนคุณ จงพูดสิ่งที่สอดคล้องกับคำสอนที่ถูกต้อง

2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

2ให้ชายสูงอายุรู้จักยับยั้งตน มีเหตุผล สุขุม และมั่นคงในความเชื่อ ความรัก และความอดทน

3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

3และให้หญิงสูงอายุเช่นกัน ประพฤติตนอย่างสำรวม ไม่ใส่ร้ายผู้อื่น ไม่ตกเป็นทาสของการดื่มเหล้าองุ่นมาก และเป็นผู้สอนสิ่งที่ดี

4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

4เพื่อจะได้ฝึกหญิงที่ยังอายุน้อยและมีสามี ให้รักสามีและรักลูก

5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

5ให้สุขุม บริสุทธิ์ ดูแลงานในบ้าน ใจดี และยอมอยู่ใต้สามีของตน เพื่อถ้อยคำของพระเจ้าจะไม่ถูกหมิ่นประมาท

6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

6จงหนุนใจชายหนุ่มในทำนองเดียวกัน ให้มีความคิดสุขุม

7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

7ในทุกเรื่อง จงเป็นแบบอย่างในการทำความดี ในการสอน จงแสดงความซื่อตรง ความจริงจัง และความไม่เสื่อมเสีย

8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

8ใช้คำพูดที่ถูกต้องจนไม่มีใครตำหนิได้ เพื่อฝ่ายตรงข้ามจะอับอาย เพราะไม่มีเรื่องชั่วอะไรจะพูดถึงเราได้

9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things ; not answering again;

9จงหนุนใจผู้รับใช้ให้ยอมอยู่ใต้นายของตน ทำให้นายพอใจในทุกเรื่อง ไม่โต้เถียง

10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

10ไม่ยักยอก แต่แสดงความซื่อสัตย์อย่างเต็มที่ เพื่อจะประดับคำสอนของพระเจ้า ผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา ให้งดงามในทุกด้าน

11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

11เพราะพระคุณของพระเจ้าได้ปรากฏแล้ว นำความรอดมาสู่มนุษย์ทุกคน

12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

12พระคุณนั้นสอนเราให้ละทิ้งความไม่เคารพพระเจ้าและความปรารถนาแบบโลกนี้ และให้ใช้ชีวิตในยุคปัจจุบันนี้อย่างสุขุม ชอบธรรม และเคารพพระเจ้า

13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

13ขณะรอคอยความหวังอันเป็นสุข และการปรากฏแห่งพระสิริของพระเยซูคริสต์ ผู้เป็นพระเจ้าผู้ยิ่งใหญ่และผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา

14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

14ผู้สละพระองค์เองเพื่อเรา เพื่อไถ่เราให้พ้นจากความอธรรมทั้งสิ้น และชำระเราให้เป็นคนของพระองค์เอง ซึ่งกระตือรือร้นในการทำความดี

15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

15จงพูดเรื่องเหล่านี้ หนุนใจ และตำหนิด้วยอำนาจเต็มที่ อย่าให้ใครดูหมิ่นคุณ
