1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD .
1อาดัมหลับนอนกับ เอวาภรรยาของเขา เธอตั้งครรภ์ และคลอดคาอิน แล้วกล่าวว่า “ฉันได้ลูกชายคนหนึ่งมาด้วยความช่วยเหลือของพระยาห์เวห์”
2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
2ต่อมาเธอคลอดอาเบล น้องชายของคาอิน อาเบลเลี้ยงแกะ ส่วนคาอินเพาะปลูกบนผืนดิน
3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD .
3เมื่อเวลาผ่านไป คาอินนำผลผลิตจากดินมาถวายพระยาห์เวห์
4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
4อาเบลก็นำลูกแรกเกิดของฝูงแกะ พร้อมส่วนไขมันจากสัตว์เหล่านั้นมาถวาย พระยาห์เวห์โปรดปรานอาเบลและของถวายของเขา
5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
5แต่ไม่โปรดปรานคาอินและของถวายของเขา คาอินโกรธมาก สีหน้าก็หม่นลง
6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
6พระยาห์เวห์ถามคาอินว่า “ทำไมเจ้าถึงโกรธ? ทำไมสีหน้าถึงหม่นลง?
7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
7ถ้าเจ้าทำดี เจ้าก็จะเงยหน้าได้ไม่ใช่หรือ? แต่ถ้าไม่ทำดี บาปก็หมอบซุ่มอยู่ที่ประตู มันปรารถนาเจ้า แต่เจ้าต้องปกครองมัน”
8And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
8คาอินพูดกับอาเบลน้องชายว่า “ไปที่ทุ่งกันเถอะ” เมื่อทั้งสองอยู่ในทุ่ง คาอินก็เข้าทำร้ายอาเบลน้องชายและฆ่าเขา
9¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
9พระยาห์เวห์ถามคาอินว่า “อาเบลน้องชายของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน?” เขาตอบว่า “ไม่รู้ แล้วผมต้องคอยเฝ้าน้องด้วยหรือ?”
10And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
10พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า “เจ้าทำอะไรลงไป? เสียงเลือดของน้องเจ้าร้องมาหาเราจากดิน
11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
11เจ้าถูกสาปเพราะดินที่อ้าปากรับเลือดน้องของเจ้าจากมือเจ้า
12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
12นับจากนี้ เมื่อเจ้าเพาะปลูกดิน มันจะไม่ให้ผลแก่เจ้าอย่างเต็มที่อีก เจ้าจะหลบหนีและเร่ร่อนไปบนแผ่นดิน”
13And Cain said unto the LORD , My punishment is greater than I can bear.
13คาอินกล่าวกับพระยาห์เวห์ว่า “โทษนี้หนักเกินกว่าจะรับไหว
14Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
14ดูสิ วันนี้พระองค์ขับผมออกจากผืนดิน ผมจะไม่ได้อยู่ต่อหน้าพระองค์อีก และจะหลบหนีเร่ร่อนไปบนแผ่นดิน ใครพบผมก็จะฆ่าผม”
15And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
15พระยาห์เวห์ตอบว่า “เพราะอย่างนั้น ใครก็ตามที่ฆ่าคาอิน จะถูกล้างแค้นเจ็ดเท่า” แล้วพระยาห์เวห์ให้เครื่องหมายแก่คาอิน เพื่อไม่ให้ผู้ที่พบเขาทำร้ายเขา
16¶ And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD , and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
16คาอินจึงออกไปจากเบื้องหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ และอาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนโนด ทางตะวันออกของเอเดน
17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
17คาอินหลับนอนกับภรรยาของเขา เธอตั้งครรภ์และคลอดเอโนค คาอินสร้างเมืองขึ้น และตั้งชื่อเมืองตามชื่อลูกชายว่าเอโนค
18And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
18เอโนคมีลูกชื่ออิราด อิราดเป็นพ่อของเมฮูยาเอล เมฮูยาเอลเป็นพ่อของเมธูชาเอล และเมธูชาเอลเป็นพ่อของลาเมค
19¶ And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
19ลาเมคมีภรรยาสองคน คนแรกชื่ออาดาห์ คนที่สองชื่อซิลลาห์
20And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
20อาดาห์คลอดยาบาล เขาเป็นต้นตระกูลของคนที่อาศัยในเต็นท์และเลี้ยงสัตว์
21And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
21น้องชายของเขาชื่อยูบาล เป็นต้นตระกูลของคนทั้งหลายที่เล่นพิณและปี่
22And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
22ซิลลาห์ก็คลอดทูบัลคาอิน ช่างตีเครื่องมือมีคมทุกชนิดจากทองสัมฤทธิ์และเหล็ก น้องสาวของทูบัลคาอินชื่อนาอามาห์
23And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
23ลาเมคกล่าวกับภรรยาของเขาว่า “อาดาห์และซิลลาห์ ฟังเสียงของฉัน ภรรยาของลาเมค ฟังถ้อยคำของฉัน ฉันฆ่าชายคนหนึ่งเพราะเขาทำให้ฉันบาดเจ็บ ฆ่าชายหนุ่มคนหนึ่งเพราะเขาทำให้ฉันฟกช้ำ
24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
24ถ้าคาอินได้รับการล้างแค้นเจ็ดเท่า ลาเมคก็จะได้รับถึงเจ็ดสิบเจ็ดเท่า”
25¶ And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she , hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
25อาดัมหลับนอนกับภรรยาอีกครั้ง เธอคลอดลูกชายและตั้งชื่อว่าเสท โดยกล่าวว่า “พระเจ้าให้ลูกอีกคนแก่ฉันแทนอาเบล เพราะคาอินฆ่าเขา”
26And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD .
26เสทก็มีลูกชายคนหนึ่งและตั้งชื่อว่าเอโนช ตั้งแต่นั้นผู้คนเริ่มร้องเรียกพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์
