1The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
1ดังนั้น ข้าพเจ้าขอเตือนสอนบรรดาผู้อาวุโสในหมู่พวกคุณ ในฐานะที่ข้าพเจ้าเองก็เป็นผู้อาวุโสคนหนึ่ง เป็นพยานถึงความทุกข์ของพระคริสต์ และจะมีส่วนร่วมในพระสิริที่จะเปิดเผย
2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof , not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
2จงเลี้ยงฝูงแกะของพระเจ้าที่อยู่ท่ามกลางพวกคุณ และทำหน้าที่ดูแล ไม่ใช่เพราะถูกบังคับ แต่ด้วยความสมัครใจ ไม่ใช่เพราะอยากได้ผลประโยชน์ที่ไม่สุจริต แต่ด้วยความเต็มใจ
3Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
3อย่าวางอำนาจเป็นเจ้านายเหนือคนที่ฝากไว้กับพวกคุณ แต่จงทำตัวเป็นแบบอย่างแก่ฝูงแกะ
4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
4เมื่อหัวหน้าผู้เลี้ยงทรงเปิดเผยพระองค์ ก็จะได้รับมงกุฎแห่งพระสิริที่ไม่ร่วงโรย
5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
5เช่นเดียวกัน คนที่อายุน้อยกว่า จงยอมอยู่ใต้ผู้อาวุโส และพวกคุณทุกคนจงสวมความถ่อมตน และยอมอยู่ใต้กันและกัน เพราะ “พระเจ้าทรงต่อต้านคนหยิ่งยโส แต่ประทานพระคุณแก่คนถ่อมตน”
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
6ดังนั้น จงถ่อมตนลงภายใต้มืออันทรงพลังของพระเจ้า เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงยกพวกคุณขึ้นเมื่อถึงเวลา
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
7จงโยนความกังวลทั้งหมดไว้กับพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงห่วงใยพวกคุณ
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
8จงมีสติ รู้จักควบคุมตนเอง และเฝ้าระวัง ศัตรูของพวกคุณ คือมาร เดินวนเวียนเหมือนสิงโตคำราม เที่ยวหาใครสักคนที่มันจะขย้ำกิน
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
9จงยืนต้านมันอย่างมั่นคงในความเชื่อ โดยรู้ว่าพี่น้องที่อยู่ในโลกกำลังประสบความทุกข์แบบเดียวกัน
10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you .
10แต่ขอพระเจ้าแห่งพระคุณทั้งปวง ผู้ทรงเรียกพวกคุณเข้าสู่พระสิรินิรันดร์ของพระองค์โดยพระเยซูคริสต์ หลังจากทนทุกข์อยู่ชั่วระยะหนึ่งแล้ว ทรงทำให้พวกคุณสมบูรณ์ ตั้งมั่น แข็งแรง และมั่นคง
11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
11ขอพระสิริและพลังอำนาจเป็นของพระองค์ตลอดไปเป็นนิตย์ อาเมน
12By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
12ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนสั้น ๆ ถึงพวกคุณโดยสิลวานัส ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าถือว่าเป็นพี่น้องที่ซื่อสัตย์ของเรา เพื่อเตือนสอนและเป็นพยานว่า นี่คือพระคุณแท้ของพระเจ้า ซึ่งพวกคุณยืนมั่นอยู่
13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you , saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
13เธอที่อยู่ในบาบิโลน ซึ่งได้รับเลือกพร้อมกับพวกคุณ ฝากคำทักทายมาถึงพวกคุณ มาระโก ลูกของข้าพเจ้าก็เช่นกัน
14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
14จงทักทายกันด้วยจูบแห่งความรัก ขอสันติสุขมีแก่พวกคุณทุกคนที่อยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์ อาเมน
