1Then again I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold a flying roll.
1私が再び目を上げて見ると、見よ、飛んでいる巻物があった。
2And he said unto me: 'What seest thou?' And I answered: 'I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.'
2彼は私に言った。「何が見えるか。」 私は答えた。「飛んでいる巻物が見えます。その長さは二十キュビト、幅は十キュビトです。」
3Then said he unto me: 'This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole land; for every one that stealeth shall be swept away on the one side like it; and every one that sweareth shall be swept away on the other side like it.
3すると彼は私に言った。「これは全地を行き巡るのろいである。盗む者は皆、その一方の面に記されているとおりに断ち滅ぼされ、偽って誓う者は皆、もう一方の面に記されているとおりに断ち滅ぼされる。
4I cause it to go forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by My name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.'
4私がこれを送り出す」と万軍の主は言われる。「それは盗人の家と、私の名によって偽って誓う者の家に入り、その家の中にとどまり、木材も石もろともその家を滅ぼす。」
5Then the angel that spoke with me went forth, and said unto me: 'Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.'
5私と話していた御使いが進み出て、私に言った。「今、目を上げ、現れて来るものが何か見よ。」
6And I said: 'What is it?' And he said: 'This is the measure that goeth forth.' He said moreover: 'This is their eye in all the land —
6私は言った。「これは何ですか。」 彼は言った。「これは現れて来るエパ の容器だ。」さらに彼は言った。「これが全地における彼らの有様である。
7and, behold, there was lifted up a round piece of lead — and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the measure.'
7見よ、重さ一タラント の鉛のふたが持ち上げられた。すると、エパ の容器の中に一人の女が座っていた。」
8And he said: 'This is Wickedness.' And he cast her down into the midst of the measure, and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
8彼は言った。「これは悪である。」そして女をエパの容器の中へ押し戻し、その口に鉛の重りを投げつけた。
9Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the measure between the earth and the heaven.
9私が目を上げて見ると、見よ、二人の女が現れ、その翼には風があった。彼女たちには、こうのとりの翼のような翼があり、エパの容器を地と天の間に持ち上げた。
10Then said I to the angel that spoke with me: 'Whither do these bear the measure?'
10私は、私と話していた御使いに尋ねた。「彼女たちはエパの容器をどこへ運んで行くのですか。」
11And he said unto me: 'To build her a house in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she shall be set there in her own place.
11彼は私に言った。「シンアルの地に、女のための家を建てるためだ。それが用意されると、女はそこにある自分の場所に据えられる。」
