1小羊が第七の封印を開くと、天に半時間ほどの静寂があった。
1And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven, as it were for half an hour.
2私は、神の前に立つ七人の御使いを見た。彼らには七つのラッパが与えられた。
2And I saw seven angels standing in the presence of God; and there were given to them seven trumpets.
3また、別の御使いが来て、金の香炉を持って祭壇のそばに立った。王座の前にある金の祭壇の上で、すべての聖徒の祈りとともにささげるため、多くの香がその御使いに与えられた。
3And another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer of the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God.
4香の煙は、聖徒たちの祈りとともに、御使いの手から神の前に立ち上った。
4And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.
5御使いは香炉を取り、それを祭壇の火で満たして地上に投げた。すると、雷鳴とさまざまな響きと稲妻と地震が起こった。
5And the angel took the censer, and filled it with the fire of the altar, and cast it on the earth, and there were thunders and voices and lightnings, and a great earthquake.
6七つのラッパを持つ七人の御使いは、ラッパを吹く用意をした。
6And the seven angels, who had the seven trumpets, prepared themselves to sound the trumpet.
7第一の御使いがラッパを吹くと、血の混じった雹と火が起こり、地上に投げつけられた。地の三分の一が焼け、木々の三分の一が焼け、すべての青草も焼けた。
7And the first angel sounded the trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mingled with blood, and it was cast on the earth, and the third part of the earth was burnt up, and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
8第二の御使いがラッパを吹くと、火で燃えている大きな山のようなものが海に投げ込まれた。海の三分の一が血となり、
8And the second angel sounded the trumpet: and as it were a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood:
9海にいる生き物のうち、命のあるものの三分の一が死に、船の三分の一が破壊された。
9And the third part of those creatures died, which had life in the sea, and the third part of the ships was destroyed.
10第三の御使いがラッパを吹くと、たいまつのように燃える大きな星が空から落ち、川の三分の一と水の泉の上に落ちた。
10And the third angel sounded the trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, burning as it were a torch, and it fell on the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters:
11その星の名は「苦よもぎ」という。水の三分の一が苦よもぎのように苦くなり、その水が苦くされたため、多くの人が死んだ。
11And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
12第四の御使いがラッパを吹くと、太陽の三分の一、月の三分の一、星の三分の一が打たれ、それぞれの三分の一が暗くなった。そのため、昼はその三分の一が光を失い、夜も同じようになった。
12And the fourth angel sounded the trumpet, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day did not shine for a third part of it, and the night in like manner.
13また、一羽の鷲が中天を飛びながら、大声でこう叫ぶのを見聞きした。「災いだ。災いだ。災いだ。なおラッパを吹こうとしている三人の御使い、そのラッパの音のために、地上に住む者たちは災いだ。」
13And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth: by reason of the rest of the voices of the three angels, who are yet to sound the trumpet.
