1「エフェソにある教会の御使いに書き送りなさい。 『右手に七つの星を持ち、七つの金の燭台の間を歩く方が、こう言われる。
1Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write: These things saith he, who holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:
2わたしは、あなたの行いと労苦と忍耐を知っている。また、あなたが悪人たちを容認せず、使徒と自称しながら実はそうでない者たちを試し、彼らが偽り者であることを見抜いたのも知っている。
2I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them that are evil, and thou hast tried them, who say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3あなたは忍耐し、わたしの名のために耐え忍び、 くじけることがなかった。
3And thou hast patience, and hast endured for my name, and hast not fainted.
4しかし、あなたには責めるべきことがある。あなたは初めの愛を捨ててしまった。
4But I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first charity.
5だから、どこから落ちたのかを思い出し、悔い改めて、初めの行いをしなさい。さもなければ、わたしはすぐにあなたのところへ行き、あなたが悔い改めないなら、あなたの燭台をその場所から移す。
5Be mindful therefore from whence thou art fallen: and do penance, and do the first works. Or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou do penance.
6しかし、あなたにはこの点がある。あなたはニコライ派の人々の行いを憎んでいる。わたしもそれを憎んでいる。
6But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaites, which I also hate.
7耳のある者は、聖霊が諸教会に語ることを聞きなさい。勝利を得る者には、わたしの神の楽園にある命の木の実を食べさせよう。』
7He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him, that overcometh, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God.
8「スミルナにある教会の御使いに書き送りなさい。 『最初であり最後である方、死んだが生き返った方が、こう言われる。
8And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead, and is alive:
9わたしは、あなたの行いと苦難と貧しさを知っている。しかし、あなたは豊かである。また、自分はユダヤ人だと言いながら実はそうではなく、サタンの会堂に属する者たちの中傷も知っている。
9I know thy tribulation and thy poverty, but thou art rich: and thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10これから受けようとしている苦しみを恐れてはならない。見よ、悪魔はあなたがたを試すために、そのうちの何人かを牢獄に投げ込もうとしている。あなたがたは十日の間、苦難を受ける。死に至るまで忠実でありなさい。そうすれば、命の冠を与えよう。
10Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison that you may be tried: and you shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful until death: and I will give thee the crown of life.
11耳のある者は、聖霊が諸教会に語ることを聞きなさい。勝利を得る者は、決して第二の死によって害を受けない。』
11He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: He that shall overcome, shall not be hurt by the second death.
12「ペルガモンにある教会の御使いに書き送りなさい。 『鋭い両刃の剣を持つ方が、こう言われる。
12And to the angel of the church of Pergamus write: These things, saith he, that hath the sharp two edged sword:
13わたしは、あなたの行いと、あなたがどこに住んでいるかを知っている。そこにはサタンの王座がある。それでもあなたは、わたしの名を堅く守り、わたしの忠実な証人アンティパスが、サタンの住むあなたがたのところで殺された日々にも、わたしの信仰を否定しなかった。
13I know where thou dwellest, where the seat of Satan is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith. Even in those days when Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14しかし、あなたには少しばかり責めるべきことがある。あなたのところには、バラムの教えに従う者たちがいる。バラムはバラクに、イスラエルの子らの前につまずきの石を置き、偶像に供えた物を食べさせ、淫行を行わせるよう教えた。
14But I have against thee a few things: because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat, and to commit fornication:
15同じように、あなたのところにもニコライ派の教えに従う者たちがいる。
15So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaites.
16だから悔い改めなさい。さもなければ、わたしはすぐにあなたのところへ行き、口の剣で彼らと戦う。
16In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17耳のある者は、聖霊が諸教会に語ることを聞きなさい。勝利を得る者には、隠されたマナを与え、 白い石を与えよう。その石には、受け取る者のほかはだれも知らない新しい名が書かれている。』
17He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him that overcometh, I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white counter, and in the counter, a new name written, which no man knoweth, but he that receiveth it.
18「テアティラにある教会の御使いに書き送りなさい。 『燃える炎のような目を持ち、その足が輝く青銅のようである神の御子が、こう言われる。
18And to the angel of the church of Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like to a flame of fire, and his feet like to fine brass.
19わたしは、あなたの行い、愛、信仰、奉仕、忍耐を知っている。また、あなたの最近の行いが初めの行いよりも多いことも知っている。
19I know thy works, and thy faith, and thy charity, and thy ministry, and thy patience, and thy last works which are more than the former.
20しかし、あなたには責めるべきことがある。あなたは、自ら女預言者と称する、あなたの もとにいるイゼベルという女を容認している。彼女はわたしの僕たちを教えて惑わし、淫行を行わせ、偶像に供えた物を食べさせている。
20But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat of things sacrificed to idols.
21わたしは彼女に悔い改める時間を与えたが、彼女は自分の淫行を悔い改めようとしない。
21And I gave her a time that she might do penance, and she will not repent of her fornication.
22見よ、わたしは彼女を病の床に投げ込み、彼女と姦淫する者たちを大きな苦難に投げ込む。彼女の行いを悔い改めないかぎり、そうする。
22Behold, I will cast her into a bed: and they that commit adultery with her shall be in very great tribulation, except they do penance from their deeds.
23また、彼女の子どもたちを死で打つ。そうすれば、すべての教会は、わたしが思いと心を探る者であることを知る。わたしはあなたがた一人ひとりに、その行いに応じて報いる。
23And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts, and I will give to every one of you according to your works. But to you I say,
24しかし、テアティラにいる残りの人々、この教えを持たず、ある人々が『サタンの深み』と呼ぶものを知らないすべての人に、わたしは言う。あなたがたには、ほかの重荷を負わせない。
24And to the rest who are at Thyatira: Whosoever have not this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will not put upon you any other burthen.
25ただし、わたしが来るまで、あなたがたの持っているものを堅く守りなさい。
25Yet that, which you have, hold fast till I come.
26勝利を得て、最後までわたしの行いを守る者には、諸国民を治める権威を与えよう。
26And he that shall overcome, and keep my works unto the end, I will give him power over the nations.
27彼は鉄の杖で彼らを治め、土の器のように粉々にする。 わたしが父から受けたのと同じ権威である。
27And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and as the vessel of a potter they shall be broken,
28また、彼に明けの明星を与えよう。
28As I also have received of my Father: and I will give him the morning star.
29耳のある者は、聖霊が諸教会に語ることを聞きなさい。』
29He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
