Baibala Hemolele (Hawaiian Bible, 1868 revision)
World English Bible
1NO ke aha la oe e ku ai i kahi loihi aku, e Iehova? A e huna ai ia oe iho i ka manawa popilikia?
1Why do you stand far off, LORD? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2O ka mea hewa, i kona hookano, Ua hoomaau mai oia i ka mea ilihune: E puni lakou i ka manao a lakou i noonoo ai.
2In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.
3No ka mea, ua hookelakela ka mea hewa i ka makemake o kona naau, A i ke ko ana, ua hoomaikai, a ua hoowahawaha aku ia Iehova.
3For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns the LORD.
4O ka mea hewa, aole ia e pule, no ka haaheo o kona maka; Aole ke Akua i kona manao a pau.
4The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.
5Ua hewa mau kona mau aoao; O kau mau oihana, maluna lilo no ia aole ikea ia ia; A o kona mau enemi, ua puhi aku oia ia lakou.
5His ways are prosperous at all times. He is arrogant, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.
6Ua olelo oia iloko o kona naau, Aole loa au e hoonaueia; Aole au e popilikia ia hanauna aku ia hanauna aku.
6He says in his heart, “I shall not be shaken. For generations I shall have no trouble.”
7Ua piha kona waha i ke amuamu, ka wahahee, a me ka hoopunipuni; Malalo ae o kona alelo ke kolohe a me ka mea lapuwale.
7His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
8Ua noho ia ma kahi hoomakaakiu o na kauhale; A i kahi nalowale i pepehi wale ai ia i ka mea hala ole; Ua haka malu aku kona mau maka i ka mea ilihune.
8He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless.
9Kali malu iho la ia me he liona la iloko o kona lua: Moemoe malu ia e hopu i ka mea ilihune: Ua hoohei no oia ia ia i kona alakai ana ia ia iloko o kana upena.
9He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless when he draws him in his net.
10Ua kolo iho la ia, ua hoohaahaa ia ia iho, I haule iho ka poe ilihune i kona mea ikaika.
10The helpless are crushed. They collapse. They fall under his strength.
11Ua olelo iho la ia iloko o kona naau, Ua hoopoina ke Akua; Ua huna oia i kona maka, aole loa ia e ike mai.
11He says in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.”
12E ku mai oe, e Iehova; E hapai oe i kou lima, e ke Akua; Mai hoopoina mai i ka poe haahaa.
12Arise, LORD! God, lift up your hand! Don’t forget the helpless.
13No ke aha la ka mea ino i hoowahawaha ai i ke Akua? Ua olelo no oia iloko o kona naau, Aole oe e hoopai mai.
13Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart, “God won’t call me into account”?
14Ua ike mai no oe, ua nana mai i ke kolohe a me ka huhu, I hoopai mai ia mea me kou lima; O ka mea ilihune ua waiho aku oia ia ia iho ia oe; O oe no ka mea nana ka mea makua ole i kokua mai.
14But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.
15E uhai oe i ka lima o ke kanaka hewa ke kolohe; E hoopai i kona hewa a pau ia i ka nalo ia oe.
15Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.
16O Iehova, oia ke Alii mau loa: Ua make aku ko na aina e mailoko aku o kona aina.
16The LORD is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.
17E Iehova, ua lohe oe i ka makemake o ka poe haahaa: E hoomakaukau ana oe i ko lakou naau, E hoolohe mai ana no kou pepeiao;
17LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,
18E hoopono mai i ka mea makua ole a me ka mea i hooluhihewaia, I hooluhihewa hou ole mai ke kauaka o ka honua.
18to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more.
