1And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon: for he heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram had always been David’s friend.
1ฮีรามกษัตริย์แห่งไทระส่งข้ารับใช้มาหาโซโลมอน เพราะได้ยินว่าคนทั้งหลายเจิมโซโลมอนเป็นกษัตริย์แทนบิดา ฮีรามรักดาวิดมาโดยตลอด
2And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:
2โซโลมอนจึงส่งข่าวถึงฮีรามว่า
3Thou knowest the will of David my father, and that he could not build a house to the name of the Lord his God, because of the wars that were round about him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.
3“ท่านรู้ว่าดาวิดบิดาของข้าสร้างพระวิหารถวายแด่พระนามของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของดาวิดไม่ได้ เพราะมีสงครามรอบด้าน จนกว่าพระยาห์เวห์จะทรงทำให้ศัตรูของดาวิดอยู่ใต้ฝ่าเท้าของเขา
4But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about: and there is no adversary nor evil occurrence.
4แต่บัดนี้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้าประทานความสงบแก่ข้าทุกด้าน ไม่มีศัตรูหรือเหตุร้ายใด ๆ
5Wherefore I purpose to build a temple to the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spoke to David my father, saying: my son, whom I will set upon the throne in thy piece, he shall build a house to my name.
5ข้าตั้งใจสร้างพระวิหารถวายแด่พระนามของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้า ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับดาวิดบิดาของข้าว่า ‘บุตรของเจ้าซึ่งเราจะให้ขึ้นนั่งบนบัลลังก์แทนเจ้า จะสร้างพระวิหารถวายแด่พระนามของเรา’
6Give orders therefore that thy servants cut me down cedar trees out of Libanus, and let my servants be with thy servants: and I will give thee the hire of thy servants whatsoever thou wilt ask, for thou knowest how there is not among my people a man that has skill to hew wood like to the Sidonians.
6ดังนั้น โปรดสั่งให้ตัดไม้ซีดาร์จากเลบานอนให้ข้า คนของข้าจะทำงานร่วมกับคนของท่าน และข้าจะจ่ายค่าแรงให้คนของท่านตามที่ท่านกำหนด เพราะท่านรู้ว่าในหมู่พวกเราไม่มีใครชำนาญการตัดไม้เท่าชาวไซดอน”
7Now when Hiram had heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced exceedingly, and said: Blessed be the Lord God this day, who hath given to David a very wise son over this numerous people.
7เมื่อฮีรามได้ยินคำของโซโลมอนก็ยินดีมากและกล่าวว่า “วันนี้ขอสรรเสริญพระยาห์เวห์ ผู้ประทานบุตรที่มีปัญญาแก่ดาวิดให้ปกครองประชาชนมากมายนี้”
8And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: I have heard all thou hast desired of me: and I will do all thy desire concerning cedar trees, and fir trees.
8ฮีรามส่งข่าวตอบโซโลมอนว่า “ข้าได้รับสารของท่านแล้ว ข้าจะทำทุกอย่างตามที่ท่านต้องการเกี่ยวกับไม้ซีดาร์และไม้ไซเปรส
9My servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea: and I will put them together in floats in the sea, and convey them to the place, which thou shalt signify to me; and will land them there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt allow me necessaries, to furnish food for my household.
9คนของข้าจะขนไม้จากเลบานอนลงสู่ทะเล ข้าจะผูกไม้เป็นแพล่องไปตามทะเลยังที่ที่ท่านระบุ แล้วให้แกะแพที่นั่น ท่านจึงรับไม้ไป ส่วนท่านก็ให้สิ่งที่ข้าต้องการ คืออาหารสำหรับคนในวังของข้า”
10So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees, and fir trees, according to all his desire.
10ฮีรามจึงส่งไม้ซีดาร์และไม้ไซเปรสให้โซโลมอนตามที่พระองค์ต้องการ
11And Solomon allowed Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat, for provision for his house, and twenty measures of the purest oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram every year.
11โซโลมอนให้ข้าวสาลีสองหมื่นโคร์ เป็นอาหารสำหรับคนในวังของฮีราม และให้น้ำมันบริสุทธิ์ยี่สิบโคร์ โซโลมอนให้สิ่งเหล่านี้แก่ฮีรามทุกปี
12And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they two made a league together.
12พระยาห์เวห์ประทานปัญญาแก่โซโลมอนตามที่ทรงสัญญา ฮีรามกับโซโลมอนอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติ และทั้งสองทำสัญญาไมตรีต่อกัน
13And king Solomon chose workmen cut of all Israel, and the levy was of thirty thousand men.
13กษัตริย์โซโลมอนเกณฑ์ชายสามหมื่นคนจากทั่วอิสราเอล
14And he sent them to Libanus, ten thousand every month by turns, so that two months they were at home: and Adoniram was over this levy.
14พระองค์ส่งพวกเขาไปเลบานอนผลัดละหนึ่งหมื่นคนต่อเดือน แต่ละคนอยู่ที่เลบานอนหนึ่งเดือนแล้วอยู่บ้านสองเดือน อาโดนีรัมเป็นผู้ดูแลการเกณฑ์แรงงาน
15And Solomon had seventy thousand to carry burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountain:
15โซโลมอนมีคนหาบขนของเจ็ดหมื่นคน และช่างตัดหินบนภูเขาแปดหมื่นคน
16Besides the overseers who were over every work, in number three thousand, and three hundred that ruled over the people, and them that did the work.
16นอกจากนั้นยังมีหัวหน้างานของโซโลมอนอีกสามพันสามร้อยคน ควบคุมคนที่ทำงานก่อสร้าง
17And the king commanded, that they should bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the temple, and should square them:

18And the masons of Solomon, and the masons of Hiram hewed them: and the Giblians prepared timber and stones to build the house.
