1泰爾 王 希蘭 ，平素愛 大衛 ；他聽見 以色列 人膏 所羅門 ，接續他父親作王，就差遣臣僕來見他。
1(5-15) And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father; for Hiram was ever a lover of David.
2所羅門 也差遣人去見 希蘭 ，說：
2(5-16) And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:
3「你知道我父親 大衛 因四圍的爭戰，不能為耶和華－他上帝的名建殿，直等到耶和華使仇敵都服在他腳下。
3(5-17) 'Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house for the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of my feet.
4現在耶和華－我的上帝使我四圍平安，沒有仇敵，沒有災禍。
4(5-18) But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary, nor evil occurrence.
5我定意要為耶和華－我上帝的名建殿，是照耶和華應許我父親 大衛 的話說：『我必使你兒子接續你坐你的位，他必為我的名建殿。』
5(5-19) And, behold, I purpose to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke unto David my father, saying: Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build the house for My name.
6所以求你吩咐你的僕人在 黎巴嫩 為我砍伐香柏木，我的僕人也必幫助他們，我必照你所定的，給你僕人的工價；因為你知道，在我們中間沒有人像 西頓 人善於砍伐樹木。」
6(5-20) Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I will give thee hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt say; for thou knowest that there is not among us any that hath skill to hew timber like unto the Zidonians.'
7希蘭 聽見 所羅門 的話，就甚喜悅，說：「今日應當稱頌耶和華；因他賜給 大衛 一個有智慧的兒子，治理這眾多的民。」
7(5-21) And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said: 'Blessed be the LORD this day, who hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.'
8希蘭 打發人去見 所羅門 ，說：「你差遣人向我所提的那事，我都聽見了；論到香柏木和松木，我必照你的心願而行。
8(5-22) And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: 'I have heard that which thou hast sent unto me; I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of cypress.
9我的僕人必將這木料從 黎巴嫩 運到海裏，紮成筏子，浮海運到你所指定我的地方，在那裏拆開，你就可以收取；你也要成全我的心願，將食物給我的家。」
9(5-23) My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea; and I will make them into rafts to go by sea unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shalt receive them; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.'
10於是 希蘭 照着 所羅門 所要的，給他香柏木和松木；
10(5-24) So Hiram gave Solomon timber of cedar and timber of cypress according to all his desire.
11所羅門 給 希蘭 麥子二萬歌珥，清油二十歌珥，作他家的食物。 所羅門 每年都是這樣給 希蘭 。
11(5-25) And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of beaten oil; thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
12耶和華照着所應許的賜智慧給 所羅門 。 希蘭 與 所羅門 和好，彼此立約。
12(5-26) And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
13所羅門 王從 以色列 人中挑取服苦的人共有三萬，
13(5-27) And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14派他們輪流每月一萬人上 黎巴嫩 去；一個月在 黎巴嫩 ，兩個月在家裏。 亞多尼蘭 掌管他們。
14(5-28) And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home; and Adoniram was over the levy.
15所羅門 用七萬扛抬的，八萬在山上鑿石頭的。
15(5-29) And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bore burdens, and fourscore thousand that were hewers in the mountains;
16此外， 所羅門 用三千三百督工的，監管工人。
16(5-30) besides Solomon's chief officers that were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who bore rule over the people that wrought in the work.
17王下令，人就鑿出又大又寶貴的石頭來，用以立殿的根基。
17(5-31) And the king commanded, and they quarried great stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with hewn stone.
18所羅門 的匠人和 希蘭 的匠人，並 迦巴勒 人，都將石頭鑿好，預備木料和石頭建殿。
18(5-32) And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the Gebalites did fashion them, and prepared the timber and the stones to build the house.
