1约瑟 伏在他父亲的面上哀哭，与他亲嘴。
1And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.
2约瑟 吩咐伺候他的医生用香料薰他父亲，医生就用香料薰了 以色列 。
2And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. And the physicians embalmed Israel.
3薰尸的常例是四十天；那四十天满了， 埃及 人为他哀哭了七十天。
3And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him threescore and ten days.
4为他哀哭的日子过了， 约瑟 对法老家中的人说：「我若在你们眼前蒙恩，请你们报告法老说：
4And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke unto the house of Pharaoh, saying: 'If now I have found favour in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying:
5『我父亲要死的时候叫我起誓说：你要将我葬在 迦南 地，在我为自己所掘的坟墓里。』现在求你让我上去葬我父亲，以后我必回来。」
5My father made me swear, saying: Lo, I die; in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come back.'
6法老说：「你可以上去，照着你父亲叫你起的誓，将他葬埋。」
6And Pharaoh said: 'Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.'
7于是 约瑟 上去葬他父亲。与他一同上去的，有法老的臣仆和法老家中的长老，并 埃及 国的长老，
7And Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8还有 约瑟 的全家和他的弟兄们，并他父亲的眷属；只有他们的 妇人 孩子，和羊群牛群，都留在 歌珊 地。
8and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house; only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
9又有车辆马兵，和他一同上去；那一帮人甚多。
9And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen; and it was a very great company.
10他们到了 约旦河 外、 亚达 的禾场，就在那里大大地号咷痛哭。 约瑟 为他父亲哀哭了七天。
10And they came to the threshing-floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they wailed with a very great and sore wailing; and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
11迦南 的居民见 亚达 禾场上的哀哭，就说：「这是 埃及 人一场极大的哀哭。」因此那地方名叫 亚伯·麦西 ，是在 约旦河 东。
11And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said: 'This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians.' Wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
12雅各 的儿子们就遵着他父亲所吩咐的办了，
12And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them.
13把他搬到 迦南 地，葬在 幔利 前、 麦比拉 田间的洞里；那洞和田是 亚伯拉罕 向 赫 人 以弗 买来为业，作坟地的。
13For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, in front of Mamre.
14约瑟 葬了他父亲以后，就和众弟兄，并一切同他上去葬他父亲的人，都回 埃及 去了。
14And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
15约瑟 的哥哥们见父亲死了，就说：「或者 约瑟 怀恨我们，照着我们从前待他一切的恶足足地报复我们。」
15And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said: 'It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did unto him.'
16他们就打发人去见 约瑟 ，说：「你父亲未死以先吩咐说：
16And they sent a message unto Joseph, saying: 'Thy father did command before he died, saying:
17『你们要对 约瑟 这样说：从前你哥哥们恶待你，求你饶恕他们的过犯和罪恶。』如今求你饶恕你父亲 神之仆人的过犯。」他们对 约瑟 说这话， 约瑟 就哭了。
17So shall ye say unto Joseph: Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for that they did unto thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father.' And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.
18他的哥哥们又来俯伏在他面前，说：「我们是你的仆人。」
18And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said: 'Behold, we are thy bondmen.'
19约瑟 对他们说：「不要害怕，我岂能代替 神呢？
19And Joseph said unto them: 'Fear not; for am I in the place of God?
20从前你们的意思是要害我，但 神的意思原是好的，要保全许多人的性命，成就今日的光景。
20And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
21现在你们不要害怕，我必养活你们和你们的 妇人 孩子。」于是 约瑟 用亲爱的话安慰他们。
21Now therefore fear ye not; I will sustain you, and your little ones.' And he comforted them, and spoke kindly unto them.
22约瑟 和他父亲的眷属都住在 埃及 。 约瑟 活了一百一十岁。
22And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house; and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.
23约瑟 得见 以法莲 第三代的子孙。 玛拿西 的孙子、 玛吉 的儿子也养在 约瑟 的膝上。
23And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation; the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were born upon Joseph's knees.
24约瑟 对他弟兄们说：「我要死了，但 神必定看顾你们，领你们从这地上去，到他起誓所应许给 亚伯拉罕 、 以撒 、 雅各 之地。」
24And Joseph said unto his brethren: 'I die; but God will surely remember you, and bring you up out of this land unto the land which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.'
25约瑟 叫 以色列 的子孙起誓说：「 神必定看顾你们；你们要把我的骸骨从这里搬上去。」
25And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying: 'God will surely remember you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.'
26约瑟 死了，正一百一十岁。人用香料将他薰了，把他收殓在棺材里，停在 埃及 。
26So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old. And they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
