1พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า
1And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
2“จงสั่งชาวอิสราเอลให้นำผู้เป็นโรคเรื้อนทุกคน ผู้มีสิ่งไหลออกจากร่างกายทุกคน และทุกคนที่มีมลทินเพราะศพ ออกไปนอกค่าย
2'Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is unclean by the dead;
3เจ้าต้องนำทั้งชายและหญิงออกไปนอกค่าย เพื่อไม่ให้พวกเขาทำให้ค่ายของตนเป็นมลทิน เพราะเราอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกเขา”
3both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camp, in the midst whereof I dwell.'
4ชาวอิสราเอลก็ทำเช่นนั้น โดยนำคนเหล่านั้นออกไปนอกค่าย ชาวอิสราเอลทำตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสส
4And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp; as the LORD spoke unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.
5พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า
5And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
6“จงบอกชาวอิสราเอลว่า ‘เมื่อชายหรือหญิงคนใดทำบาปอย่างหนึ่งอย่างใดที่มนุษย์อาจทำ และเป็นการล่วงผิดต่อพระยาห์เวห์ และคนนั้นมีความผิด
6Speak unto the children of Israel: When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to commit a trespass against the LORD, and that soul be guilty;
7เขาต้องสารภาพบาปที่ตนได้ทำ และชดใช้ความผิดนั้นเต็มจำนวน ทั้งเพิ่มอีก 1 ใน 5 แล้วมอบให้แก่ผู้ที่เขาได้ทำผิดต่อ
7then they shall confess their sin which they have done; and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him in respect of whom he hath been guilty.
8แต่ถ้าผู้นั้นไม่มีญาติที่จะรับสิ่งชดใช้ความผิด สิ่งชดใช้ความผิดซึ่งถวายแด่พระยาห์เวห์จะตกเป็นของปุโรหิต นอกเหนือจากแกะตัวผู้สำหรับพิธีลบมลทินบาป ซึ่งใช้ทำพิธีลบมลทินบาปให้แก่ผู้ทำผิด
8But if the man have no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the guilt, the restitution for guilt which is made shall be the LORD'S, even the priest's; besides the ram of the atonement, whereby atonement shall be made for him.
9ของถวายที่ยกถวายทุกอย่างจากสิ่งบริสุทธิ์ทั้งปวงของชาวอิสราเอล ซึ่งพวกเขานำมามอบแก่ปุโรหิต จะตกเป็นของปุโรหิต
9And every heave-offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they present unto the priest, shall be his.
10สิ่งบริสุทธิ์ของแต่ละคนยังคงเป็นของคนนั้น แต่สิ่งใดที่ใครมอบแก่ปุโรหิต สิ่งนั้นจะเป็นของปุโรหิต’”
10And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
11พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า
11and the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
12“จงบอกชาวอิสราเอลว่า ‘ถ้าภรรยาของชายคนใดหลงผิดและไม่ซื่อสัตย์ต่อเขา
12Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: If any man's wife go aside, and act unfaithfully against him,
13โดยมีชายอื่นร่วมหลับนอนกับนาง แต่เรื่องนี้พ้นสายตาสามีและถูกปิดบังไว้ นางมีมลทินโดยไม่มีพยานกล่าวโทษ และไม่มีใครจับได้ขณะกระทำ
13and a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, she being defiled secretly, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken in the act;
14ถ้าความหึงหวงเกิดขึ้นในใจสามี ทำให้เขาหึงหวงภรรยาที่มีมลทิน หรือถ้าความหึงหวงเกิดขึ้นในใจเขา ทำให้เขาหึงหวงภรรยาทั้งที่นางไม่มีมลทิน
14and the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled; or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled;
15ชายนั้นต้องพาภรรยามาหาปุโรหิต และนำเครื่องถวายสำหรับนางมาด้วย คือแป้งข้าวบาร์เลย์ 1 ใน 10 เอฟาห์ เขาต้องไม่เทน้ำมันหรือใส่กำยานลงบนแป้งนั้น เพราะเป็นเครื่องธัญบูชาเนื่องจากความหึงหวง เป็นเครื่องธัญบูชาสำหรับเตือนความจำ เพื่อให้ระลึกถึงความผิด
15then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is a meal-offering of jealousy, a meal-offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.
16ปุโรหิตต้องพานางเข้ามาใกล้และให้ยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์
16And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD.
17ปุโรหิตต้องตักน้ำบริสุทธิ์ใส่ภาชนะดิน แล้วเอาฝุ่นจากพื้นพลับพลาใส่ลงในน้ำนั้น
17And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water.
18ปุโรหิตต้องให้นางยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ ปล่อยผมของนางให้สยาย และวางเครื่องธัญบูชาสำหรับเตือนความจำไว้ในมือนาง ซึ่งก็คือเครื่องธัญบูชาเนื่องจากความหึงหวง ส่วนในมือปุโรหิตให้ถือน้ำขมที่ก่อคำสาป
18And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and let the hair of the woman's head go loose, and put the meal-offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal-offering of jealousy; and the priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that causeth the curse.
19จากนั้นปุโรหิตต้องให้นางกล่าวคำสาบาน และบอกนางว่า “ถ้าไม่มีชายอื่นมาร่วมหลับนอนกับเจ้า และถ้าเจ้าไม่ได้หลงไปทำสิ่งที่เป็นมลทินขณะอยู่ใต้อำนาจสามี น้ำขมที่ก่อคำสาปนี้ก็จะไม่ทำอันตรายเจ้า
19And the priest shall cause her to swear, and shall say unto the woman: 'If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness, being under thy husband, be thou free from this water of bitterness that causeth the curse;
20แต่ถ้าเจ้าหลงผิดขณะอยู่ใต้อำนาจสามี มีมลทิน และมีชายอื่นนอกจากสามีมาร่วมหลับนอนกับเจ้า…”
20but if thou hast gone aside, being under thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee besides thy husband —
21แล้วปุโรหิตต้องให้นางสาบานด้วยคำสาป และบอกนางว่า “ขอพระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำให้เจ้าเป็นคำสาปและคำกล่าวในคำสาบานท่ามกลางประชาชนของเจ้า เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำให้ต้นขาของเจ้าลีบและท้องของเจ้าบวม
21then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman — the LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to fall away, and thy belly to swell;
22ขอให้น้ำที่ก่อคำสาปนี้เข้าไปในท้อง ทำให้ท้องของเจ้าบวมและต้นขาของเจ้าลีบ” แล้วนางต้องตอบว่า “อาเมน อาเมน”
22and this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, and make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to fall away'; and the woman shall say: 'Amen, Amen.'
23“‘ปุโรหิตต้องเขียนคำสาปเหล่านี้ลงในม้วนหนังสือ แล้วล้างข้อความนั้นลงในน้ำขม
23And the priest shall write these curses in a scroll, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness.
24เขาต้องให้นางดื่มน้ำขมที่ก่อคำสาป และน้ำที่ก่อคำสาปจะเข้าไปในตัวนางและก่อให้เกิดความขมขื่น
24And he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causeth the curse; and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter.
25ปุโรหิตต้องรับเครื่องธัญบูชาเนื่องจากความหึงหวงจากมือนาง แล้วโบกเครื่องธัญบูชานั้นถวายต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ และนำไปยังแท่นบูชา
25And the priest shall take the meal-offering of jealousy out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the meal-offering before the LORD, and bring it unto the altar.
26ปุโรหิตต้องหยิบเครื่องธัญบูชาหนึ่งกำมือเป็นส่วนสำหรับเตือนความจำ และเผาบนแท่นบูชา หลังจากนั้นจึงให้นางดื่มน้ำ
26And the priest shall take a handful of the meal-offering, as the memorial-part thereof, and make it smoke upon the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water.
27เมื่อเขาให้นางดื่มน้ำแล้ว หากนางมีมลทินและล่วงผิดต่อสามี น้ำที่ก่อคำสาปจะเข้าไปในตัวนางและก่อให้เกิดความขมขื่น ท้องของนางจะบวมและต้นขาจะลีบ นางจะกลายเป็นคำสาปท่ามกลางประชาชนของนาง
27And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she be defiled, and have acted unfaithfully against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away; and the woman shall be a curse among her people.
28แต่ถ้านางไม่ได้ทำให้ตนเป็นมลทินและยังสะอาดตามพิธี นางจะพ้นจากผลร้ายนั้นและตั้งครรภ์มีลูกได้
28And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be cleared, and shall conceive seed.
29“‘นี่คือกฎหมายเรื่องความหึงหวง เมื่อภรรยาซึ่งอยู่ใต้อำนาจสามีหลงผิดและทำให้ตนเป็นมลทิน
29This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goeth aside, and is defiled;
30หรือเมื่อความรู้สึกหึงหวงเกิดขึ้นในตัวชายคนหนึ่ง ทำให้เขาหึงหวงภรรยา เขาต้องให้นางยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ และปุโรหิตต้องปฏิบัติต่อนางตามกฎหมายนี้ทุกประการ
30or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he be jealous over his wife; then shall he set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.
31ชายนั้นจะพ้นจากความผิด แต่นางต้องรับโทษความผิดของตน’”
31And the man shall be clear from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.
