1แต่ข้าพเจ้าตัดสินใจแล้วว่าจะไม่มาหาพวกคุณอีกด้วยความเศร้าโศก
1But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.
2เพราะถ้าข้าพเจ้าทำให้พวกคุณเศร้า แล้วใครจะทำให้ข้าพเจ้ายินดี นอกจากคนที่ข้าพเจ้าทำให้เศร้า?
2For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?
3ข้าพเจ้าเขียนเรื่องนี้ไปก็เพื่อว่า เมื่อข้าพเจ้ามา ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ต้องเศร้าเพราะคนที่ควรทำให้ข้าพเจ้ายินดี ข้าพเจ้ามั่นใจในพวกคุณทุกคนว่า ความยินดีของข้าพเจ้าเป็นความยินดีของพวกคุณทุกคนด้วย
3And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, when I come, have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4เพราะข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงพวกคุณท่ามกลางความทุกข์ยากมากมายและความปวดร้าวในใจ พร้อมกับน้ำตามากมาย ไม่ใช่เพื่อทำให้พวกคุณเศร้า แต่เพื่อให้พวกคุณรู้ว่าข้าพเจ้ารักพวกคุณมากเพียงใด
4For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears: not that you should be made sorrowful: but that you might know the charity I have more abundantly towards you.
5ถ้าใครทำให้เกิดความเศร้า เขาไม่ได้ทำให้ข้าพเจ้าเศร้า แต่ทำให้พวกคุณทุกคนเศร้าอยู่บ้าง ข้าพเจ้าพูดอย่างนี้เพื่อจะไม่กดดันพวกคุณหนักเกินไป
5And if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; but in part, that I may not burden you all.
6การลงโทษที่คนส่วนใหญ่ได้ลงแก่เขานั้นเพียงพอแล้ว
6To him who is such a one, this rebuke is sufficient, which is given by many:
7ดังนั้น ตรงกันข้าม พวกคุณควรยกโทษและปลอบใจเขา เพื่อไม่ให้เขาถูกความเศร้าที่หนักเกินไปกลืนกิน
7So that on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8เพราะฉะนั้น ข้าพเจ้าขอร้องพวกคุณให้ยืนยันให้เขารู้ว่าพวกคุณรักเขา
8Wherefore, I beseech you, that you would confirm your charity towards him.
9เหตุที่ข้าพเจ้าเขียนมาก็เพื่อทดสอบพวกคุณว่า พวกคุณเชื่อฟังในทุกเรื่องหรือไม่
9For to this end also did I write, that I may know the experiment of you, whether you be obedient in all things.
10พวกคุณยกโทษให้ใครในเรื่องใด ข้าพเจ้าก็ยกโทษให้คนนั้นด้วย เพราะถ้าข้าพเจ้าได้ยกโทษในเรื่องใด ข้าพเจ้าก็ยกโทษให้คนนั้นเพื่อเห็นแก่พวกคุณ ต่อหน้าพระคริสต์
10And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.
11เพื่อไม่ให้ซาตานฉวยโอกาสเอาเปรียบเรา เพราะเรารู้กลอุบายของมันดี
11That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.
12เมื่อข้าพเจ้ามาถึงเมืองโทรอัสเพื่อประกาศข่าวดีของพระคริสต์ และมีประตูเปิดกว้างให้ข้าพเจ้าในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
12And when I was come to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me in the Lord,
13จิตวิญญาณของข้าพเจ้าไม่สงบ เพราะไม่พบทิตัสพี่น้องของข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าจึงลาพวกเขาและเดินทางไปมาซิโดเนีย
13I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but bidding them farewell, I went into Macedonia.
14แต่ขอบคุณพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงนำเราไปในขบวนแห่งชัยชนะในพระคริสต์อยู่เสมอ และทรงให้กลิ่นหอมแห่งการรู้จักพระองค์แพร่ไปทุกแห่งผ่านเรา
14Now thanks be to God, who always maketh us to triumph in Christ Jesus, and manifesteth the odour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15เพราะเราเป็นกลิ่นหอมของพระคริสต์สำหรับพระเจ้า ทั้งท่ามกลางคนที่กำลังได้รับความรอดและคนที่กำลังพินาศ
15For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.
16สำหรับฝ่ายหนึ่ง เราเป็นกลิ่นเหม็นจากความตายสู่ความตาย แต่อีกฝ่ายหนึ่ง เราเป็นกลิ่นหอมจากชีวิตสู่ชีวิต ใครเล่าจะมีความสามารถพอสำหรับเรื่องเหล่านี้?
16To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?
17เพราะเราไม่เหมือนคนจำนวนมากที่เร่ขายพระคำของพระเจ้า แต่เราพูดด้วยความจริงใจ ในฐานะผู้ที่มาจากพระเจ้า ต่อหน้าพระเจ้า และในพระคริสต์
17For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.
