Coptic New Testament
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲓϯϩⲁⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙ⳿ⲑⲣⲓ⳿ⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ..
1But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.
2ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲧϯⲉⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲓⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧ⳿ⲑⲣⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲏⲗ ⳿ⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲙⲟⲕϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲓ..
2For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?
3ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁⲓ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲧϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲁⲓϣⲁⲛ⳿ⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϭⲓ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲥ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲣⲁϣⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲁϩⲏⲧ ⲑⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲫⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ..
3And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, when I come, have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲅⲁⲣ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲟϫϩⲉϫ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲉⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲓ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲉⲣⲙⲏ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲏ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉⲭⲁⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϯ ⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲣϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ..
4For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears: not that you should be made sorrowful: but that you might know the charity I have more abundantly towards you.
5ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϯ ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲧⲁϥϯ ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲏⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲡⲟⲙⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲟⲩⲁϩⲃⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ..
5And if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; but in part, that I may not burden you all.
6ⲕⲏⲛ ⳿ⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⳿ ⲉⲧⲁⲓ ⳿ ⲉⲡⲓⲧⲓⲙⲓⲁ ⲑⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ..
6To him who is such a one, this rebuke is sufficient, which is given by many:
7ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲃⲏϥ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϯⲛⲟⲙϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⳿ⲛⲉⲙⲕⲁϩⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲱⲙⲕ ⳿ⲙⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ..
7So that on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ϯϯϩⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁϫⲣⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ..
8Wherefore, I beseech you, that you would confirm your charity towards him.
9ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲓ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲏ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ..
9For to this end also did I write, that I may know the experiment of you, whether you be obedient in all things.
10ⲫⲏ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲉⲣ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϩⲱ ϯ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲕⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⳿ⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲧⲁⲓⲁⲓϥ ⲫⲏ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲓⲁⲓϥ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲁⲓⲁⲓϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡϩⲟ ⳿ⲛⲒⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ.̅.
10And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.
11ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥ ϭⲓⲧⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲟⲃϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲉⲩ⳿.Ⲓ.
11That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.
12⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲧⲣⲱⲁⲥ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁ ⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡ⳪..
12And when I was come to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me in the Lord,
13⳿ⲙⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲡⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲙⲧⲟⲛ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϫⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲓⲧⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁⲓⲉⲣⲁⲡⲟⲧⲁⲍⲉⲥⲑⲉ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲓ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲑⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲟⲛⲓⲁ..
13I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but bidding them farewell, I went into Macedonia.
14⳿ⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ϣⲏⲡ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲙⲁⲓ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ..
14Now thanks be to God, who always maketh us to triumph in Christ Jesus, and manifesteth the odour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓⲛⲟⲩϥⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲟϩⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲧⲁⲕⲟ..
15For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.
16⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϧ ⲉⲩⲱⲛϧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲓⲕⲁⲛⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ..
16To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?
17ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲉⲩⲉⲣⲓⲉⲃϣⲱⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲧⲉⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ.
17For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.
