1Sed mi decidis por mi mem, ke mi ne venos al vi denove en malĝojo.
1But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.
2Ĉar se mi vin malĝojigas, kiu do min ĝojigas, krom tiu, kiu estas malĝojigata de mi?
2For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?
3Kaj mi skribis tion saman, por ke, veninte, mi ne havu malĝojon de tiuj, pri kiuj mi devus ĝoji, fidante pri vi ĉiuj, ke mia ĝojo estas la ĝojo de vi ĉiuj.
3And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, when I come, have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4Ĉar el multe da aflikto kaj kora dolorego mi skribis al vi kun multaj larmoj, ne por ke vi malĝoju, sed ke vi sciu la amon, kiun mi havas al vi abunde.
4For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears: not that you should be made sorrowful: but that you might know the charity I have more abundantly towards you.
5Sed se iu kaŭzis malĝojon, li kaŭzis malĝojon ne al mi, sed parte (por ne tro forte vin premi) al vi ĉiuj.
5And if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; but in part, that I may not burden you all.
6Sufiĉa al tia homo estas tiu puno, farita de la plimulto;
6To him who is such a one, this rebuke is sufficient, which is given by many:
7pro tio, kontraŭe, vi devus lin pardoni kaj konsoli, por ke tia homo neniel forglutiĝu per sia troa malĝojo.
7So that on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8Tial mi petegas vin, ke vi konfirmu al li vian amon.
8Wherefore, I beseech you, that you would confirm your charity towards him.
9Ĝuste por tio mi ja skribis, ke mi vin provu, ĉu vi en ĉio estas obeemaj.
9For to this end also did I write, that I may know the experiment of you, whether you be obedient in all things.
10Sed al kiu vi pardonas ion, mi ankaŭ; ĉar kion mi ankaŭ pardonis, se mi ion pardonis, mi tion faris pro vi antaŭ Kristo,
10And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.
11por ke Satano ne gajnu profiton kontraŭ ni: ĉar ni ne estas sen scio pri liaj ruzoj.
11That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.
12Kiam mi venis al Troas, por disvastigi tie la evangelion de Kristo, kaj kiam en la Sinjoro malfermiĝis al mi pordo,
12And when I was come to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me in the Lord,
13mi ne ricevis ripozon por mia spirito, ĉar mi ne trovis mian fraton Tito; sed mi adiaŭis ilin kaj foriris al Makedonujo.
13I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but bidding them farewell, I went into Macedonia.
14Sed danko estu al Dio, kiu ĉiam kondukadas nin triumfe en Kristo kaj montras ĉie per ni la bonodoron de Sia koniĝo.
14Now thanks be to God, who always maketh us to triumph in Christ Jesus, and manifesteth the odour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15Ĉar ni estas al Dio dolĉa odoro de Kristo, en la savatoj, kaj en la pereantoj;
15For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.
16al ĉi tiuj, odoro de morto al morto; al tiuj, odoro de vivo al vivo. Kaj kiu estas taŭga por ĉi tio?
16To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?
17Ĉar ni ne similas al multaj, kiuj faras la vorton de Dio komercaĵo; sed kun sincereco, kaj kiel per Dio, antaŭ Dio ni parolas en Kristo.
17For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.
