1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
1“เราได้บอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่พวกคุณ เพื่อพวกคุณจะไม่สะดุดล้ม
2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
2พวกเขาจะขับพวกคุณออกจากธรรมศาลา ยิ่งกว่านั้น เวลากำลังมา เมื่อใครก็ตามที่ฆ่าพวกคุณ จะคิดว่าตนกำลังรับใช้พระเจ้า
3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
3พวกเขาจะทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ เพราะพวกเขาไม่รู้จักทั้งพระบิดาและเรา
4But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
4แต่เราบอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่พวกคุณ เพื่อเมื่อเวลานั้นมาถึง พวกคุณจะระลึกได้ว่า เราเคยบอกพวกคุณไว้ เราไม่ได้บอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่พวกคุณตั้งแต่เริ่มแรก เพราะเรายังอยู่กับพวกคุณ
5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
5แต่ตอนนี้ เรากำลังไปหาพระองค์ผู้ส่งเรามา และไม่มีใครในพวกคุณถามเราว่า ‘ท่านกำลังไปที่ไหน?’
6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
6แต่เพราะเราบอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่พวกคุณ ใจของพวกคุณจึงเต็มไปด้วยความเศร้า
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
7อย่างไรก็ตาม เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกคุณว่า การที่เราจากไปนั้นเป็นประโยชน์แก่พวกคุณ เพราะถ้าเราไม่จากไป ผู้ช่วยเหลือก็จะไม่มาหาพวกคุณ แต่ถ้าเราไป เราจะส่งผู้ช่วยเหลือมาหาพวกคุณ
8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
8เมื่อผู้ช่วยเหลือมา ผู้ช่วยเหลือจะชี้ให้เห็นความผิดของโลกในเรื่องบาป เรื่องความชอบธรรม และเรื่องการพิพากษา
9Of sin, because they believe not on me;
9ในเรื่องบาป เพราะพวกเขาไม่เชื่อในเรา
10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
10ในเรื่องความชอบธรรม เพราะเรากำลังไปหาพระบิดาของเรา และพวกคุณจะไม่เห็นเราอีก
11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
11ในเรื่องการพิพากษา เพราะผู้ครองโลกนี้ถูกพิพากษาแล้ว
12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
12“เรายังมีอีกหลายเรื่องที่จะบอกพวกคุณ แต่ตอนนี้พวกคุณยังรับไม่ไหว
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
13แต่เมื่อพระวิญญาณแห่งความจริงมา พระวิญญาณจะนำพวกคุณเข้าสู่ความจริงทั้งหมด เพราะจะไม่พูดจากตนเอง แต่จะพูดทุกสิ่งที่ได้ยิน และจะบอกพวกคุณถึงสิ่งที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้น
14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
14พระวิญญาณจะทำให้เราได้รับพระสิริ เพราะจะรับจากสิ่งที่เป็นของเรา และบอกสิ่งนั้นแก่พวกคุณ
15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15ทุกสิ่งที่พระบิดามีเป็นของเรา เพราะเหตุนี้ เราจึงบอกว่า พระวิญญาณรับ จากสิ่งที่เป็นของเรา และจะบอกสิ่งนั้นแก่พวกคุณ
16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
16“อีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะไม่เห็นเรา และอีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะเห็นเรา”
17Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
17สาวกบางคนของพระองค์จึงพูดกันว่า “ที่พระองค์พูดกับพวกเราว่า ‘อีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะไม่เห็นเรา และอีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะเห็นเรา’ และ ‘เพราะเรากำลังไปหาพระบิดา’ นี่หมายความว่าอย่างไร?”
18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
18พวกเขาจึงพูดว่า “ที่พระองค์พูดว่า ‘อีกเพียงไม่นาน’ หมายความว่าอย่างไร? พวกเราไม่รู้ว่าพระองค์กำลังพูดเรื่องอะไร”
19Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
19พระเยซูรู้ว่าพวกเขาอยากถามพระองค์ จึงกล่าวว่า “พวกคุณกำลังถามกันเองเกี่ยวกับที่เราพูดว่า ‘อีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะไม่เห็นเรา และอีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกคุณจะเห็นเรา’ ใช่ไหม?
20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
20เราขอยืนยันกับพวกคุณว่า พวกคุณจะร้องไห้และคร่ำครวญ แต่โลกจะยินดี พวกคุณจะเศร้าโศก แต่ความเศร้าของพวกคุณจะเปลี่ยนเป็นความยินดี
21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
21เมื่อผู้หญิงคลอดลูก นางมีความทุกข์ เพราะเวลาของนางมาถึงแล้ว แต่เมื่อคลอดเด็กแล้ว นางก็ไม่จดจำความเจ็บปวดอีก เพราะยินดีที่มีมนุษย์คนหนึ่งเกิดมาในโลก
22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
22ดังนั้น ตอนนี้พวกคุณมีความเศร้า แต่เราจะเห็นพวกคุณอีก แล้วใจของพวกคุณจะยินดี และไม่มีใครเอาความยินดีของพวกคุณไปจากพวกคุณได้
23And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
23“ในวันนั้น พวกคุณจะไม่ถามเราอีก เราขอยืนยันกับพวกคุณว่า สิ่งใดก็ตามที่พวกคุณขอจากพระบิดาในนามของเรา พระองค์จะให้สิ่งนั้นแก่พวกคุณ
24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
24จนถึงตอนนี้ พวกคุณยังไม่ได้ขออะไรในนามของเรา จงขอ แล้วพวกคุณจะได้รับ เพื่อความยินดีของพวกคุณจะเต็มเปี่ยม
25These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
25“เราได้พูดสิ่งเหล่านี้กับพวกคุณด้วยคำพูดเชิงเปรียบเทียบ แต่เวลากำลังมา เมื่อเราจะไม่พูดกับพวกคุณด้วยคำพูดเชิงเปรียบเทียบอีก แต่จะบอกพวกคุณเกี่ยวกับพระบิดาอย่างตรงไปตรงมา
26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
26ในวันนั้น พวกคุณจะขอในนามของเรา และเราไม่ได้บอกว่า เราจะอธิษฐานขอต่อพระบิดาเพื่อพวกคุณ
27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
27พระบิดาเองรักพวกคุณ เพราะพวกคุณรักเรา และเชื่อว่า เรามาจากพระเจ้า
28I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
28เรามาจากพระบิดา และเข้ามาในโลก อีกครั้ง เรากำลังจากโลก และไปหาพระบิดา”
29His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
29สาวกของพระองค์พูดว่า “ตอนนี้ท่านพูดอย่างตรงไปตรงมา และไม่ใช้คำพูดเชิงเปรียบเทียบแล้ว
30Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
30ตอนนี้พวกเรารู้ว่า ท่านรู้ทุกสิ่ง และไม่จำเป็นต้องมีใครถามท่าน เพราะเหตุนี้ พวกเราจึงเชื่อว่า ท่านมาจากพระเจ้า”
31Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
31พระเยซูตอบพวกเขาว่า “ตอนนี้พวกคุณเชื่อแล้วหรือ?
32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
32เวลานั้นกำลังมา และมาถึงแล้ว เมื่อพวกคุณจะกระจัดกระจายกัน ต่างคนต่างแยกย้ายไปยังที่ของตน และจะทิ้งเราไว้คนเดียว แต่เราไม่ได้อยู่คนเดียว เพราะพระบิดาอยู่กับเรา
33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
33เราได้บอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่พวกคุณ เพื่อพวกคุณจะมีสันติสุขในเรา ในโลก พวกคุณมีความทุกข์ยาก แต่จงมีกำลังใจ! เราได้เอาชนะโลกแล้ว”
