1Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
1กษัตริย์เบลชัสซาร์ทรงจัดงานเลี้ยงใหญ่ให้ขุนนางหนึ่งพันคน และทรงดื่มเหล้าองุ่นต่อหน้าคนทั้งพัน
2Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his consorts and his concubines, might drink therein.
2ขณะเสวยเหล้าองุ่น เบลชัสซาร์ทรงสั่งให้นำภาชนะทองคำและเงินที่เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ บิดาของพระองค์ ยึดมาจากพระวิหารในเยรูซาเล็มมา เพื่อกษัตริย์ ขุนนาง มเหสี และนางสนม จะใช้ดื่ม
3Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his lords, his consorts and his concubines, drank in them.
3พวกเขาจึงนำภาชนะทองคำที่ยึดมาจากพระวิหารของพระเจ้าในเยรูซาเล็มมา กษัตริย์ ขุนนาง มเหสี และนางสนม ใช้ภาชนะเหล่านั้นดื่ม
4They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
4พวกเขาดื่มเหล้าองุ่นและสรรเสริญเทพเจ้าที่ทำด้วยทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ เหล็ก ไม้ และหิน
5In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace; and the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote.
5ทันใดนั้น นิ้วมือของมนุษย์ปรากฏขึ้น เขียนลงบนปูนฉาบผนังวังของกษัตริย์ใกล้เชิงตะเกียง กษัตริย์ทอดพระเนตรเห็นส่วนของมือที่กำลังเขียน
6Then the king's countenance was changed in him, and his thoughts affrighted him; and the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
6พระพักตร์ของกษัตริย์เปลี่ยนไป ทรงว้าวุ่นพระทัยด้วยความคิดและตกใจจนขาอ่อน เข่ากระทบกัน
7The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon: 'Whosoever shall read this writing, and declare unto me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall rule as one of three in the kingdom.'
7กษัตริย์ตรัสเสียงดังให้เรียกผู้ร่ายคาถา ชาวเคลเดีย และผู้ทำนายมา แล้วตรัสกับนักปราชญ์ของบาบิโลนว่า “ใครอ่านตัวหนังสือนี้และอธิบายความหมายให้เรารู้ได้ จะได้สวมเสื้อสีม่วง มีสร้อยทองคำคล้องคอ และเป็นผู้ปกครองลำดับที่สามในราชอาณาจักร”
8Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation.
8นักปราชญ์ทุกคนของกษัตริย์เข้ามา แต่ไม่มีใครอ่านตัวหนังสือหรืออธิบายความหมายให้กษัตริย์รู้ได้
9Then was king Belshazzar greatly affrighted, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were perplexed.
9กษัตริย์เบลชัสซาร์ทรงตกใจอย่างยิ่ง พระพักตร์เปลี่ยนไป ขุนนางทั้งหลายก็สับสน
10Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house; the queen spoke and said: 'O king, live for ever! let not thy thoughts affright thee, nor let thy countenance be changed;
10เมื่อได้ยินคำพูดของกษัตริย์และขุนนาง ราชินีเสด็จเข้ามาในห้องจัดเลี้ยงและตรัสว่า “ขอพระองค์ทรงพระเจริญตลอดไป! อย่าทรงว้าวุ่นพระทัยเพราะความคิด และอย่าให้พระพักตร์เปลี่ยนไปเลย
11there is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; and the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers;
11ในอาณาจักรของพระองค์มีชายคนหนึ่งที่มีวิญญาณของเหล่าเทพเจ้าศักดิ์สิทธิ์อยู่ในตัว ในสมัยบิดาของพระองค์ เขามีความกระจ่าง ความเข้าใจ และปัญญาเหมือนปัญญาของเทพเจ้า กษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ บิดาของพระองค์ ใช่แล้ว กษัตริย์ผู้เป็นบิดาของพระองค์ ทรงแต่งตั้งเขาเป็นหัวหน้าผู้ใช้เวทมนตร์ ผู้ร่ายคาถา ชาวเคลเดีย และผู้ทำนาย
12forasmuch as a surpassing spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and declaring of riddles, and loosing of knots, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will declare the interpretation.'
12เพราะดาเนียลคนนี้ ซึ่งกษัตริย์ทรงตั้งชื่อว่าเบลเทชัสซาร์ มีความสามารถเป็นเลิศ มีความรู้ความเข้าใจ อธิบายความฝัน ไขปริศนา และคลี่คลายข้อสงสัยได้ จงเรียกดาเนียลมา แล้วเขาจะอธิบายความหมาย”
13Then was Daniel brought in before the king. The king spoke and said unto Daniel: 'Art thou Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?
13ดาเนียลถูกนำมาต่อหน้ากษัตริย์ กษัตริย์ตรัสถามว่า “เจ้าคือดาเนียล คนหนึ่งในหมู่เชลยจากยูดาห์ ที่กษัตริย์ผู้เป็นบิดาของเรานำมาจากยูดาห์หรือ?
14I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and surpassing wisdom is found in thee.
14เราได้ยินว่าเจ้ามีวิญญาณของเหล่าเทพเจ้าอยู่ในตัว มีความกระจ่าง ความเข้าใจ และปัญญาเป็นเลิศ
15And now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof; but they could not declare the interpretation of the thing.
15ตอนนี้เรานำพวกนักปราชญ์ ผู้ร่ายคาถา มาพบเรา เพื่อให้อ่านตัวหนังสือนี้และอธิบายความหมายให้รู้ แต่พวกเขาอธิบายไม่ได้
16But I have heard of thee, that thou canst give interpretations, and loose knots; now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt rule as one of three in the kingdom.'
16เราได้ยินว่าเจ้าสามารถอธิบายความหมายและคลี่คลายข้อสงสัยได้ ถ้าเจ้าอ่านตัวหนังสือและอธิบายความหมายให้เรารู้ได้ จะได้สวมเสื้อสีม่วง มีสร้อยทองคำคล้องคอ และเป็นผู้ปกครองลำดับที่สามในราชอาณาจักร”
17Then Daniel answered and said before the king: 'Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
17ดาเนียลทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า “ขอพระองค์เก็บของขวัญไว้ และมอบรางวัลให้คนอื่นเถิด ถึงอย่างไร ข้าพเจ้าจะอ่านตัวหนังสือให้กษัตริย์ฟัง และอธิบายความหมายให้รู้
18O thou king, God Most High gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty;
18“ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ พระเจ้าผู้สูงสุดมอบราชอาณาจักร ความยิ่งใหญ่ ความรุ่งโรจน์ และเกียรติยศแก่เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ บิดาของพระองค์
19and because of the greatness that He gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down.
19เพราะความยิ่งใหญ่ที่พระเจ้าให้ คนทุกชนชาติ ทุกเชื้อชาติ ทุกภาษา จึงตัวสั่นด้วยความกลัวต่อหน้าเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ พระองค์อยากฆ่าใครก็ฆ่า อยากไว้ชีวิตใครก็ไว้ อยากยกใครขึ้นก็ยก อยากลดใครลงก็ลด
20But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him;
20แต่เมื่อใจหยิ่งผยองและแข็งกระด้างจนประพฤติตนอย่างยโส พระองค์ถูกปลดจากบัลลังก์ และถูกพรากความรุ่งโรจน์ไป
21and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that God Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and that He setteth up over it whomsoever He will.
21พระองค์ถูกขับไล่จากหมู่มนุษย์ จิตใจกลายเป็นเหมือนสัตว์ ไปอยู่กับลาป่า ต้องกินหญ้าเหมือนวัว ร่างกายเปียกน้ำค้างจากฟ้า จนรู้ว่าพระเจ้าผู้สูงสุดปกครองอาณาจักรของมนุษย์ และตั้งใครให้ปกครองก็ได้ตามที่ต้องการ
22And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this;
22“แต่เบลชัสซาร์ พระองค์ผู้เป็นบุตร ไม่ยอมถ่อมใจ แม้จะรู้เรื่องทั้งหมดนี้
23but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy consorts and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified;
23กลับยกตนต่อต้านเจ้าแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์ พระองค์ให้นำภาชนะจากพระวิหารของพระเจ้ามา แล้วพระองค์ ขุนนาง มเหสี และนางสนม ใช้ดื่มเหล้าองุ่น พระองค์สรรเสริญเทพเจ้าที่ทำด้วยเงิน ทองคำ ทองสัมฤทธิ์ เหล็ก ไม้ และหิน ซึ่งมองไม่เห็น ไม่ได้ยิน และไม่รู้อะไร แต่ไม่ถวายเกียรติแด่พระเจ้าผู้กุมลมหายใจของพระองค์ไว้ และผู้เป็นเจ้าของทุกหนทางในชีวิตของพระองค์
24then was the palm of the hand sent from before Him, and this writing was inscribed.
24พระเจ้าจึงส่งส่วนของมือนั้นมา และเขียนข้อความนี้ไว้
25And this is the writing that was inscribed: MENE MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.
25“ข้อความที่เขียนคือ ‘เมเน เมเน เทเคล อูฟาร์ซิน’
26This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and brought it to an end.
26“ความหมายมีดังนี้ เมเน คือ พระเจ้านับวาระของราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ และทำให้สิ้นสุดลงแล้ว
27TEKEL, Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
27เทเคล คือ พระองค์ถูกชั่งบนตาชั่ง และพบว่าน้ำหนักขาดไป
28PERES, thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.'
28เปเรส คือ ราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ถูกแบ่ง และมอบให้ชาวมีเดียกับชาวเปอร์เซีย”
29Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should rule as one of three in the kingdom.
29เบลชัสซาร์จึงทรงออกคำสั่ง พวกเขาให้ดาเนียลสวมเสื้อสีม่วง คล้องสร้อยทองคำให้ และประกาศว่าเขาจะเป็นผู้ปกครองลำดับที่สามในราชอาณาจักร
30In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain.
30คืนนั้น เบลชัสซาร์ กษัตริย์ชาวเคลเดีย ถูกฆ่าตาย
31(6-1) And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
31ดาริอัสชาวมีเดียได้รับราชอาณาจักร ขณะมีพระชนมายุประมาณหกสิบสองปี
