1バビロン王ネブカドネザルがバビロンへ捕らえ移した人々のうち、捕囚の地から上って来て、エルサレムとユダのそれぞれ自分の町へ帰った、この州の人々は次のとおりである。
1Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,
2彼らはゼルバベル、エシュア、ネヘミヤ、セラヤ、レエラヤ、モルデカイ、ビルシャン、ミスパル、ビグワイ、レフム、バアナとともに来た。 イスラエルの民の男子の数は次のとおりである。
2accompanied by Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. This is the count of the men of Israel:

55The descendants of the servants of Solomon: the descendants of Sotai, the descendants of Sophereth, the descendants of Peruda,
56ヤアラの子ら、ダルコンの子ら、ギデルの子ら、
56the descendants of Jaala, the descendants of Darkon, the descendants of Giddel,
57シェファティヤの子ら、ハティルの子ら、ポケレテ・ハツェバイムの子ら、アミの子ら。
57the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pochereth-hazzebaim, and the descendants of Ami.
58すべての宮のしもべたち、およびソロモンのしもべたちの子らは、合わせて三百九十二人であった。
58The temple servants and descendants of the servants of Solomon numbered 392 in all.
59テル・メラ、テル・ハルシャ、ケルブ、アダン、イメルから上って来た者たちのうち、父祖の家や血筋がイスラエルに属することを証明できなかった者は次のとおりである。
59The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:
60デラヤの子ら、トビヤの子ら、ネコダの子らは六百五十二人。
60the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 652 in all.
61祭司の子らのうちでは、ハバヤの子ら、ハコツの子ら、バルジライの子ら。このバルジライはギルアデ人バルジライの娘を妻に迎え、その妻の家名で呼ばれていた。
61And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).
62彼らは系図に登録された者たちの中から自分たちの記録を捜したが、見つからなかった。そのため祭司として不適格とされ、祭司職から退けられた。
62These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
63総督は彼らに、ウリムとトンミムを用いる祭司が立つまでは、最も聖なるものを食べてはならないと告げた。
63The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.
64会衆はみな合わせて四万二千三百六十人であった。
64The whole assembly numbered 42,360,
65このほかに、彼らの男女の奴隷が七千三百三十七人おり、また歌うたいの男女が二百人いた。
65in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 200 male and female singers.
66彼らの馬は七百三十六頭、騾馬は二百四十五頭、
66They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
67らくだは四百三十五頭、ろばは六千七百二十頭であった。
67435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.
68父祖の家の長たちのうち何人かは、エルサレムにある主の家に着くと、神の家を元の場所に建てるため、自発のささげ物をした。
68When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.
69彼らはそれぞれの力に応じて、工事のための宝物庫に、金六万一千ダリク、銀五千ミナ、祭司の衣百着を納めた。
69According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.
70こうして、祭司たち、レビ人、民の一部、歌うたいたち、門衛たち、宮のしもべたちは自分たちの町々に住み、全イスラエルも自分たちの町々に住んだ。
70So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
