1第三十年、第四の月の五日、私がケバル川のほとりで捕囚の民の中にいた時、天が開かれ、私は神 の幻を見た。
1In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the River Kebar, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God.
2その月の五日、エホヤキン王が捕囚となって第五年に、
2On the fifth day of the month—it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin—
3カルデア人の地、ケバル川のほとりで、主 の言葉がブジの子である祭司エゼキエルに臨み、そこで主の御手が彼の上にあった。
3the word of the LORD came directly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Kebar. And there the LORD’s hand was upon him.
4私が見ると、見よ、北から激しい風が吹いて来た。大きな雲があり、火がひらめき、その周囲には輝きがあった。火の中心からは、輝く金属のようなものが見えた。
4I looked and saw a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire was a gleam like amber,
5その中心から、四つの生き物に似たものが現れた。その姿は人に似ていた。
5and within it was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had a human form,
6それぞれに四つの顔があり、それぞれに四つの翼があった。
6but each had four faces and four wings.
7足はまっすぐで、足の裏は子牛のひづめの裏のようであり、磨かれた青銅のように輝いていた。
7Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, gleaming like polished bronze.
8四方の翼の下には、人の手があった。四つの生き物の顔と翼は、次のようであった。
8Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four living creatures had faces and wings,
9翼は互いに触れ合っていた。進む時には向きを変えず、それぞれまっすぐ前へ進んだ。
9and their wings were touching one another. They did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead.
10顔の形は、四つとも人の顔を持ち、右側には獅子の顔、左側には牛の顔があり、また四つとも鷲の顔を持っていた。
10The form of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and also the face of an eagle.
11その顔はこのようであった。翼は上方に広げられ、それぞれ二つの翼が隣の生き物の翼に触れ、残りの二つで体を覆っていた。
11Such were their faces. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching the wings of the creature on either side, and two wings covering its body.
12それぞれまっすぐ前へ進んだ。霊が行こうとする所へ彼らも行き、進む時に向きを変えなかった。
12Each creature went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they moved.
13生き物の姿は、燃える炭火のようであり、たいまつのように見えた。火が生き物の間を行き巡り、火は明るく、その火から稲妻が出ていた。
13In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of glowing coals of fire, or of torches. Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.
14生き物は、稲妻がひらめくように行き来した。
14The creatures were darting back and forth as quickly as flashes of lightning.
15私が生き物を見ていると、見よ、四つの生き物のそれぞれのそばに、地の上に一つずつ車輪があった。
15When I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.
16車輪の外観と作りは緑柱石のように輝き、四つとも同じ形をしていた。その外観と作りは、一つの車輪の中に別の車輪があるようであった。
16The workmanship of the wheels looked like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. Their workmanship looked like a wheel within a wheel.
17進む時には四方のどの方向にも進み、進む時に向きを変えなかった。
17As they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without pivoting as they moved.
18車輪の縁は高く、恐ろしいほどであり、四つの車輪の縁には周囲一面に目があった。
18Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around.
19生き物が進むと、車輪もそのそばを進んだ。生き物が地から上がると、車輪も上 霊ががった。
19So as the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.
20行こうとする所へ、生き物も進んだ。霊がそこへ行こうとしたからである。車輪も彼らとともに上がった。生き物の霊が車輪の中にあったからである。
20Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
21生き物が進むと車輪も進み、生き物が止まると車輪も止まった。生き物が地から上がると、車輪も彼らとともに上がった。生き物の霊が車輪の中にあったからである。
21When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
22生き物の頭上には、恐ろしいほどに輝く水晶のような大空があり、その頭上高く広がっていた。
22Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of an awesome expanse, gleaming like crystal.
23大空の下で、彼らは翼を互いに向けてまっすぐ伸ばしていた。それぞれ二つの翼で体の一方を覆い、二つの翼で体の他方を覆っていた。
23And under the expanse, their wings stretched out toward one another. Each one also had two wings covering its body.
24彼らが進む時、私はその翼の音を聞いた。それは大水のとどろきのようであり、全能者の声のようであり、軍勢の音のような激しい響きであった。彼らは止まる時、翼を垂れた。
24When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
25彼らの頭上の大空のさらに上から声がした。彼らは止まる時、翼を垂れた。
25And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings lowered.
26その頭上の大空の上には、サファイア のように見える王座に似たものがあった。その王座に似たものの上には、人の姿に似た方が座しておられた。
26Above the expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.
27私が見ると、その腰のように見える所から上は、火に包まれた輝く金属のようであり、腰のように見える所から下は火のようであった。また、その方の周囲には輝きがあった。
27From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire within it all around. And from what seemed to be His waist down, I saw what looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him.
28その周囲の輝きは、雨の日に雲の中に現れる虹のようであった。 これが主の栄光に似たものの姿であった。私はそれを見ると、ひれ伏した。そして、語る方の声を聞いた。
28The appearance of the brilliant light all around Him was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.
