1これはダビデの最後のことばである。 エッサイの子ダビデの告げたことば。 高く上げられた者の告げたことば。 ヤコブの神によって油を注がれた者、 イスラエルの麗しい歌い手のことば。
1Now these are the last words of David: The saying of David the son of Jesse, and the saying of the man raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel:
2「主の霊はわたしを通して語り、 そのことばはわたしの舌にあった。
2The spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was upon my tongue.
3イスラエルの神は言われた。 イスラエルの岩はわたしに語られた。 『人を正しく治める者、 神を恐れて治める者は、
3The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: 'Ruler over men shall be the righteous, even he that ruleth in the fear of God,
4日の昇る朝の光のよう、 雲一つない朝のよう、 雨の後の澄んだ輝きによって、 地から若草が萌え出る時のようだ。』
4And as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, a morning without clouds; when through clear shining after rain, the tender grass springeth out of the earth.'
5まことに、わが家は神の前にそのようではないか。 神はわたしと永遠の契約を結び、 すべてを整え、確かなものとされた。 これこそ、わたしの救いのすべて、望みのすべて。 神はそれを実らせてくださらないだろうか。
5For is not my house established with God? for an everlasting covenant He hath made with me, ordered in all things, and sure; for all my salvation, and all my desire, will he not make it to grow?
6しかし、よこしまな者たちは皆、投げ捨てられる茨のよう。 手でつかむことができない。
6But the ungodly, they are as thorns thrust away, all of them, for they cannot be taken with the hand;
7それに触れる者は、鉄と槍の柄で身を固めなければならない。 茨はその場で火に焼き尽くされる。」
7But the man that toucheth them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.
8これらはダビデの勇士たちの名である。隊長たちのかしら、タフケモン人ヨシェブ・バシェベテ。彼はエツェン人アディノと呼ばれ、一度に八百人を殺した。
8These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite; he lifted up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9彼の次は、アホア人の息子ドダイの息子エレアザルであり、ダビデとともにいた三人の勇士の一人であった。彼らが、戦いのためそこに集まっていたペリシテ人に立ち向かい、イスラエルの人々が退いて行ったとき、
9And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they jeoparded their lives against the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away;
10彼は立ち上がり、手が疲れ、剣を握ったまま離れなくなるまでペリシテ人を打った。主はその日、大いなる勝利をもたらされた。民はただ戦利品を奪うためだけに、彼の後に戻って来た。
10he stood firm, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand did cleave unto the sword; and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to strip the slain.
11彼の次は、ハラル人アゲの息子シャマであった。ペリシテ人が一隊となって集まった場所には、レンズ豆の実った畑があった。民はペリシテ人の前から逃げた。
11And after him was Shammah the son of Age the Ararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
12しかし彼はその畑の真ん中に立ち、そこを守ってペリシテ人を殺した。そして主は大いなる勝利をもたらされた。
12But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD wrought a great victory.
13三十人の長たちのうち三人が下って行き、収穫の時期にアドラムのほら穴にいるダビデのところに来た。ペリシテ人の一隊はレファイムの谷に陣を敷いていた。
13And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
14その時、ダビデは要害におり、ペリシテ人の守備隊はベツレヘムにあった。
14And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.
15ダビデは切望して言った。「ああ、だれか、門のそばにあるベツレヘムの井戸の水を飲ませてくれないか。」
15And David longed, and said: 'Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!'
16すると、その三人の勇士はペリシテ人の陣営を突き破り、門のそばにあるベツレヘムの井戸から水を汲み、それをダビデのところに持って来た。しかし彼はそれを飲もうとはせず、主の御前に注ぎ出した。
16And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; but he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
17彼は言った。「主よ、このようなことは決してできません。これは、命をかけて行った者たちの血ではありませんか。」それゆえ、彼はそれを飲もうとはしなかった。三人の勇士はこれらのことを行ったのである。
17And he said: 'Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this; shall I drink the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives?' therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
18ツェルヤの息子ヨアブの兄弟アビシャイは、その三人の長であった。彼は槍を振るって三百人を殺し、三人の間で名を上げた。
18And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.
19彼は三人のうちで最も誉れ高い者ではなかったか。それゆえ、彼は彼らの隊長となった。しかし、彼は最初の三人には及ばなかった。
19He was most honourable of the three; therefore he was made their captain; howbeit he attained not unto the first three.
20カブツェエルの勇士の子、エホヤダの息子ベナヤは、数々の勇敢な働きをした人であった。彼はモアブのアリエルの二人の息子を殺した。また、雪の日に下って行き、穴の中で一頭の獅子を殺した。
20And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he smote the two altar-hearths of Moab; he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow;
21彼は大柄なエジプト人を殺した。そのエジプト人の手には槍があったが、ベナヤは杖を持って彼のもとに下って行き、エジプト人の手から槍を奪い取り、その槍で彼を殺した。
21and he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man; and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
22エホヤダの息子ベナヤはこれらのことを行い、三人の勇士の間で名を上げた。
22These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.
23彼は三十人よりも誉れ高かったが、最初の三人には及ばなかった。ダビデは彼を自分の護衛の長とした。
23He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
24ヨアブの兄弟アサエルは三十人の一人であった。ベツレヘムのドドの息子エルハナン、
24Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem;
25ハロデ人シャマ、ハロデ人エリカ、
25Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite;
26パルティ人ヘレツ、テコア人イケシュの息子イラ、
26Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite;
27アナトテ人アビエゼル、フシャ人メブナイ、
27Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite;
28アホア人ツァルモン、ネトファ人マハライ、
28Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite;
29ネトファ人バアナの息子ヘレブ、ベニヤミン人のギブア出身のリバイの息子イタイ、
29Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin;
30ピルアトン人ベナヤ、ガアシュの谷のヒダイ、
30Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of Nahale-gaash;
31アラバ人アビ・アルボン、バフルム人アズマベテ、
31Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite;
32シャアルボン人エリアバ、ヤシェンの息子たち、ヨナタン、
32Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan;
33ハラル人シャマ、アラル人シャラルの息子アヒアム、
33Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite;
34マアカ人の息子アハスバイの息子エリフェレテ、ギロ人アヒトフェルの息子エリアム、
34Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite;
35カルメル人ヘツロ、アルブ人パアライ、
35Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite;
36ツォバのナタンの息子イガル、ガド人バニ、
36Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite;
37アンモン人ツェレク、ベエロテ人ナハライ。これらはツェルヤの息子ヨアブの武器を持つ者たちであった。
37Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armour-bearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah;
38イテル人イラ、イテル人ガレブ、
38Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite;
39ヘテ人ウリヤ。合わせて三十七人。
39Uriah the Hittite. Thirty and seven in all.
