1Know you not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) that the law hath dominion over a man, as long as it liveth?
1Или не знате, браћо (јер говорим онима који знају закон), да закон влада над човеком докле је жив?
2For the woman that hath an husband, whilst her husband liveth is bound to the law. But if her husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
2Јер је удата жена привезана законом за мужа докле год он живи; а ако ли муж њен умре, разреши се од закона мужевљег.
3Therefore, whilst her husband liveth, she shall be called an adulteress, if she be with another man: but if her husband be dead, she is delivered from the law of her husband; so that she is not an adulteress, if she be with another man.
3Зато, дакле, док јој је муж жив бива прељубочиница ако пође за другог мужа; а ако јој умре муж проста је од закона да не буде прељубочиница ако пође за другог.
4Therefore, my brethren, you also are become dead to the law, by the body of Christ; that you may belong to another, who is risen again from the dead, that we may bring forth fruit to God.
4Зато, браћо моја, и ви умресте закону телом Христовим, да будете другог, Оног што уста из мртвих, да плод донесемо Богу.
5For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members, to bring forth fruit unto death.
5Јер кад бејасмо у телу, беху сласти греховне, које закон рађаху у удима нашим да се смрти плод доноси.
6But now we are loosed from the law of death, wherein we were detained; so that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
6А сад, умревши избависмо се од закона који нас држаше, да служимо Богу у обновљењу Духа а не у старини слова.
7What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? God forbid. But I do not know sin, but by the law; for I had not known concupiscence, if the law did not say: Thou shalt not covet.
7Шта ћемо дакле рећи? Је ли закон грех? Боже сачувај! Него ја греха не познах осим кроз закон; јер не знадох за жељу да закон не каза: Не зажели.
8But sin taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
8А грех узе почетак кроз заповест, и начини у мени сваку жељу; јер је грех без закона мртав.
9And I lived some time without the law. But when the commandment came, sin revived,
9А ја живљах некад без закона; а кад дође заповест, онда грех оживе,
10And I died. And the commandment that was ordained to life, the same was found to be unto death to me.
10а ја умрех, и нађе се да ми заповест би за смрт која беше дата за живот.
11For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, seduced me, and by it killed me.
11Јер грех узевши почетак кроз заповест превари ме, и уби ме њоме.
12Wherefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
12Тако је, дакле, закон свет и заповест света и праведна и добра.
13Was that then which is good, made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it may appear sin, by that which is good, wrought death in me; that sin, by the commandment, might become sinful above measure.
13Добро ли дакле би мени смрт? Боже сачувај! Него грех, да се покаже грех добром чинећи ми смрт, да буде грех одвише грешан заповешћу.
14For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin.
14Јер знамо да је закон духован; а ја сам телесан, продан под грех:
15For that which I work, I understand not. For I do not that good which I will; but the evil which I hate, that I do.
15Јер не знам шта чиним, јер не чиним оно шта хоћу, него на шта мрзим оно чиним.
16If then I do that which I will not, I consent to the law, that it is good.
16Ако ли оно чиним шта нећу, хвалим закон да је добар.
17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
17А ово више ја не чиним него грех који живи у мени.
18For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is to say, in my flesh, that which is good. For to will, is present with me; but to accomplish that which is good, I find not.
18Јер знам да добро не живи у мени, то јест у телу мом. Јер хтети имам у себи, али учинити добро не налазим.
19For the good which I will, I do not; but the evil which I will not, that I do.
19Јер добро што хоћу не чиним, него зло што нећу оно чиним.
20Now if I do that which I will not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
20А кад чиним оно што нећу, већ ја то не чиним него грех који живи у мени.
21I find then a law, that when I have a will to do good, evil is present with me.
21Налазим, дакле закон, кад хоћу добро да чиним, да ме на зло нагони.
22For I am delighted with the law of God, according to the inward man:
22Јер имам радост у закону Божијем по унутрашњем човеку;
23But I see another law in my members, fighting against the law of my mind, and captivating me in the law of sin, that is in my members.
23али видим други закон у удима својим, који се супроти закону ума мог, и заробљава ме законом греховним који је у удима мојим.
24Unhappy man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
24Ја несрећни човек! Ко ће ме избавити од тела смрти ове?
25The grace of God, by Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I myself, with the mind serve the law of God; but with the flesh, the law of sin.
25Захваљујем Богу свом кроз Исуса Христа Господа нашег. Тако, дакле, ја сам умом својим служим закону Божијем а телом закону греховном.
