1These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold a hook to draw down the fruit.
1主耶和華又指示我一件事：我看見一筐夏天的果子。
2And he said: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A hook to draw down fruit. And the Lord said to me: The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.
2他說：「 阿摩司 啊，你看見甚麼？」我說：「看見一筐夏天的果子。」耶和華說：「我民 以色列 的結局到了，我必不再寬恕他們。」
3And the hinges of the temple shall screak in that day, saith the Lord God: many shall die: silence shall be cast in every place.
3主耶和華說：「那日，殿中的詩歌變為哀號；必有許多屍首在各處拋棄，無人作聲。」
4Hear this, you that crush the poor, and make the needy of the land to fail,
4你們這些要吞吃窮乏人、 使困苦人衰敗的，當聽我的話！
5Saying: When will the month be over, and we shall sell our wares: and the sabbath, and we shall open the corn: that we may lessen the measure, and increase the sicle, and may convey in deceitful balances,
5你們說：月朔幾時過去， 我們好賣糧； 安息日幾時過去， 我們好擺開麥子； 賣出 用小升斗， 收銀 用大戥子， 用詭詐的天平欺哄人，
6That we may possess the needy for money, and the poor for a pair of shoes, and may sell the refuse of the corn?
6好用銀子買貧寒人， 用一雙鞋換窮乏人， 將壞了的麥子賣給人。
7The Lord hath sworn against the pride of Jacob: surely I will never forget all their works.
7耶和華指着 雅各 的榮耀起誓說： 他們的一切行為，我必永遠不忘。
8Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein: and rise up altogether as a river, and be cast out, and run down as the river of Egypt?
8地豈不因這事震動？ 其上的居民不也悲哀嗎？ 地必全然像 尼羅河 漲起， 如同 埃及河 湧上落下。
9And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that the sun shall go down at midday, and I will make the earth dark in the day of light:
9主耶和華說：到那日， 我必使日頭在午間落下， 使地在白晝黑暗。
10And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation: and I will bring up sackcloth upon every back of yours, and baldness upon every head: and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the latter end thereof as a bitter day.
10我必使你們的節期變為悲哀， 歌曲變為哀歌。 眾人腰束麻布，頭上光禿， 使這場悲哀如喪獨生子， 至終如痛苦的日子一樣。
11Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will send forth a famine into the land: not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the word of the Lord.
11主耶和華說：日子將到， 我必命饑荒降在地上。 人飢餓非因無餅，乾渴非因無水， 乃因不聽耶和華的話。
12And they shall move from sea to sea, and from the north to the east: they shall go about seeking the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
12他們必飄流，從這海到那海， 從北邊到東邊，往來奔跑， 尋求耶和華的話，卻尋不着。
13In that day the fair virgins, and the young men shall faint for thirst.
13當那日，美貌的處女 和少年的男子必因乾渴發昏。
14They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say: Thy God, O Dan, liveth: and the way of Bersabee liveth: and they shall fall, and shall rise no more.
14那指着 撒馬利亞 牛犢起誓的說： 但 哪，我們指着你那裏的活神起誓； 又說：我們指着 別是巴 的神道起誓。 這些人都必仆倒，永不再起來。
