1I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:
1Молим, дакле, пре свега да се чине искања, молитве, мољења, захваљивања за све људе,
2For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity.
2за цареве, и за све који су у власти, да тихи и мирни живот поживимо у свакој побожности и поштењу.
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,
3Јер је ово добро и пријатно пред Спаситељем нашим Богом,
4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
4који хоће да се сви људи спасу, и да дођу у познање истине.
5For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus:
5Јер је један Бог, и један посредник Бога и људи, човек Христос Исус,
6Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times.
6који себе даде у откуп за све, за сведочанство у своје време,
7Whereunto I am appointed a preacher and an apostle, (I say the truth, I lie not,) a doctor of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
7за које сам постављен проповедник и апостол (истину говорим у Христу, не лажем), учитељ незнабожаца, у вери и истини.
8I will therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger and contention.
8Хоћу, дакле, да молитве чине људи на свакоме месту, подижући свете руке без гнева и премишљања.
9In like manner women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire,
9Тако и жене у пристојном оделу, са стидом и поштењем да украшују себе, не плетеницама, ни златом, или бисером, или хаљинама скупоценим,
10But as it becometh women professing godliness, with good works.
10него добрим делима као што се пристоји женама које се обећавају побожности.
11Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection.
11Жена на миру да се учи са сваком покорношћу.
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to use authority over the man: but to be in silence.
12Али жени не допуштам да учи нити да влада мужем, него да буде мирна.
13For Adam was first formed; then Eve.
13Јер је Адам најпре саздан па онда Ева;
14And Adam was not seduced; but the woman being seduced, was in the transgression.
14и Адам се не превари, а жена преваривши се постаде преступница;
15Yet she shall be saved through childbearing; if she continue in faith, and love, and sanctification, with sobriety.
15али ће се спасти рађањем деце, ако остане у вери и љубави и у светињи с поштењем.
