Asang Khongca Bible (Eastern Khumi Chin, 2019)
JPS Tanakh (Jewish Publication Society, 1917)
1Ka capa, ka thuih ih loknawk hae pakuem ah, kang paek ih loknawk to palung thungah suem ah.
1My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2Kang paek ih loknawk to pakuemh loe, hing haih ah; kang patuk ih lok to na mikmu baktiah suem ah.
2Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of thine eye.
3Na banpazung nuiah komh loe, na palung thungah tarik ah.
3Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
4Palunghahaih khaeah, Nang loe ka tanuh baktiah na oh, tiah thui ah loe, panoekhaih khaeah, Nang loe ka canawk baktiah na oh, tiah thui ah;
4Say unto wisdom: 'Thou art my sister', and call understanding thy kinswoman;
5to tiah na sak nahaeloe zaehaih sak koeh nongpata, minawk zoek thaih nongpata ban thung hoiah na pakaa tih.
5That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the alien woman that maketh smooth her words.
6Ka im thokbuem hoi ka khet naah ka hnuk ih hmuen loe,
6For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice;
7poekhaih tawn ai kami rumramnawk thungah ka khet naah, thendoengnawk thungah, poekhaih tawn ai thendoeng maeto ka hnuk.
7And I beheld among the thoughtless ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8To kami loe nongpata ohhaih loklam im takii bang hoiah to nongpata ohhaih im bangah a caeh,
8Passing through the street near her corner, and he went the way to her house;
9Duembang khoving, khoving qum taning tue phak naah loe,
9In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the blackness of night and the darkness.
10khenah, tangzat zaw khukbuen angkhuk, minawk kazoek thaih nongpata loe anih hnuk hanah angzoh.
10And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of a harlot, and wily of heart.
11To nongpata loe palungthah moe, lok doeh ho parai; anih loe angmah ih im ah doeh om vai ai.
11She is riotous and rebellious, her feet abide not in her house;
12Anih loe tasa bangah tacawt moe, kami angpophaih loklam, lam takii kruekah minawk to a zing.
12Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places, and lieth in wait at every corner.
13To nongpata mah anih to naeh moe, a mok; azathaih mikhmai tawn ai ah anih khaeah,
13So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face she said unto him:
14misa angdaeh angbawnhaih sak han ka tawnh; vaihniah lokkamhaih ka koepsak boeh.
14'Sacrifices of peace-offerings were due from me; this day have I paid my vows.
15To pongah nang hnuk hanah kang zoh, palung tang hoi nang to kang pakrong, vaihi loe kang hnuk boeh.
15Therefore came I forth to meet thee, to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16Rong congca kaom Izip prae ih, puu kahni hoiah ka iihhaih ahmuen to ka khuk het boeh.
16I have decked my couch with coverlets, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
17Hmuihoih tui myrrh, aloe, cinnamon hoiah iihkhun to ka bawh boeh.
17I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18Angzo ah, khawnbang khodai khoek to amlunghaih hoiah angkom hoi si; amlunghaih hoiah kanawm acaeng hoi si!
18Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us solace ourselves with loves.
19Ka sava loe im ah om ai, angthla parai kholong ah a caeh ving.
19For my husband is not at home, he is gone a long journey;
20Anih loe phoisa tabu koi mongah phoisa to pacaeng pongah, khrah akoep ai karoek to im ah amlaem mak ai, tiah a naa.
20He hath taken the bag of money with him; he will come home at the full moon.'
21Lokthuih kophaih hoiah anih to a zoek moe, kanaem lok hoiah anih to pazawk.
21With her much fair speech she causeth him to yield, with the blandishment of her lips she enticeth him away.
22Anih loe boh hanah hoih ih maitaw, thaang kacawh tasuk baktiah to nongpata hnukah bang roep;
22He goeth after her straightway, as an ox that goeth to the slaughter, or as one in fetters to the correction of the fool;
23anih loe panoekhaih tamsi pongah, palaa mah anih ih pathin to kaat ai karoek to, dongh pongah kaman tavaa baktiah a hinghaih to boengsak.
23Till an arrow strike through his liver; as a bird hasteneth to the snare — and knoweth not that it is at the cost of his life.
24To pongah ka caanawk, ka lok to tahngai oh loe, ka thuih ih lok to pakuem oh.
24Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25To nongpata hnukah na poekhaih caeh o sak hmah loe, to nongpata ih loklam doeh pazui o hmah.
25Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26Anih mah kami paroeai amtimsak boeh; ue, paroeai thacak kaminawk doeh anih mah hum boeh.
26For she hath cast down many wounded; yea, a mighty host are all her slain.
27Anih ih im loe hell caehhaih manglai lam ah oh moe, duekhaih imthung ah akun tathuk.
27Her house is the way to the nether-world, going down to the chambers of death.
