1And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it , that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD .
1เมื่อกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ได้ยินเรื่องนั้นก็ฉีกเสื้อผ้าของตน เอาผ้ากระสอบคลุมตัว และเข้าไปในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
2And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
2เขาส่งเอลียาคิมผู้ดูแลราชสำนัก เชบนา อาลักษณ์ และบรรดาผู้อาวุโสในหมู่ปุโรหิตซึ่งต่างก็คลุมตัวด้วยผ้ากระสอบไปหาอิสยาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะบุตรอาโมส
3And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
3พวกเขาพูดกับอิสยาห์ว่า “เฮเซคียาห์พูดดังนี้‘วันนี้เป็นวันแห่งความทุกข์ การตำหนิ และการถูกปฏิเสธ ทารกถึงเวลาคลอดแล้ว แต่มารดาไม่มีแรงเบ่งคลอด
4It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
4บางทีพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของท่านอาจทรงได้ยินถ้อยคำทั้งหมดของรับชาเคห์ผู้ซึ่งกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียเจ้านายของเขาส่งมาท้าทายพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์ และอาจทรงตำหนิถ้อยคำที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงได้ยิน ดังนั้นขอท่านอธิษฐานเผื่อคนที่เหลืออยู่ด้วย’”
5So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
5บรรดาผู้รับใช้ของกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์จึงมาหาอิสยาห์
6¶ And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD , Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
6อิสยาห์พูดกับพวกเขาว่า “จงบอกเจ้านายของพวกท่านดังนี้ ‘พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า “อย่ากลัวถ้อยคำที่เจ้าได้ยินซึ่งพวกผู้รับใช้ของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียใช้หมิ่นประมาทเรา
7Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
7ดูสิ เราจะดลใจเขา เขาจะได้ยินข่าว แล้วกลับไปยังแผ่นดินของตน และเราจะทำให้เขาล้มลงด้วยดาบในแผ่นดินของตน”’”
8¶ So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
8รับชาเคห์จึงกลับไป และพบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียกำลังทำสงครามกับลิบนาห์ เพราะเขาได้ยินว่ากษัตริย์ออกจากลาคีชแล้ว
9And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,
9เมื่อกษัตริย์ได้ยินข่าวเกี่ยวกับทิรหาคาห์กษัตริย์แห่งเอธิโอเปียว่า “ดูสิเขายกทัพออกมาสู้กับท่าน” กษัตริย์ก็ส่งผู้นำสารไปหาเฮเซคียาห์อีกครั้งว่า
10Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
10“จงบอกเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ดังนี้ ‘อย่าให้พระเจ้าของเจ้าที่เจ้าวางใจหลอกเจ้าว่าเยรูซาเล็มจะไม่ถูกมอบไว้ในอำนาจของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย
11Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?
11ดูสิเจ้าได้ยินแล้วว่าบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียทำอะไรกับแผ่นดินทั้งปวงคือทำลายพวกเขาจนหมดสิ้น แล้วเจ้าจะรอดพ้นหรือ
12Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?
12เทพเจ้าของชนชาติที่บรรพบุรุษของข้าทำลายคือโกซาน ฮาราน เรเซฟ และลูกหลานของเอเดนที่อยู่ในเทลอัสซาร์ช่วยพวกเขาได้หรือ
13Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?
13กษัตริย์แห่งฮามัทอยู่ที่ไหน กษัตริย์แห่งอารปัด และกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองเสฟารวาอิม เฮนา และอิฟวาห์อยู่ที่ไหน’”
14¶ And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD , and spread it before the LORD .
14เฮเซคียาห์รับจดหมายจากมือของผู้นำสาร และอ่านแล้ว เฮเซคียาห์ก็ขึ้นไปยังพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ และคลี่จดหมายนั้นออกต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์
15And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD , and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
15เฮเซคียาห์อธิษฐานต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ว่า “ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลผู้ประทับเหนือเครูบ พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแต่เพียงพระองค์เดียวเหนืออาณาจักรทั้งปวงบนแผ่นดินโลก พระองค์ทรงสร้างฟ้า และแผ่นดิน
16LORD , bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD , thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.
16ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์โปรดเงี่ยหูฟังโปรดลืมตาดู และโปรดฟังถ้อยคำของเซนนาเคอริบที่เขาส่งมาท้าทายพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์
17Of a truth, LORD , the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
17ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์เป็นความจริงที่บรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้ทำลายชนชาติต่างๆ และแผ่นดินของพวกเขา
18And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
18และได้โยนเทพเจ้าของพวกเขาลงในไฟ เพราะสิ่งเหล่านั้นไม่ใช่พระเจ้า แต่เป็นผลงานจากมือมนุษย์คือไม้ และหิน พวกเขาจึงทำลายมันได้
19Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.
19บัดนี้ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเราขอโปรดช่วยพวกเราให้พ้นจากอำนาจของเขาเพื่ออาณาจักรทั้งปวงบนแผ่นดินโลกจะได้รู้ว่าพระองค์พระยาห์เวห์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแต่ผู้เดียว”
20¶ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
20แล้วอิสยาห์บุตรอาโมสส่งข่าวไปยังเฮเซคียาห์ว่า “พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสว่า ‘เรื่องที่เจ้าอธิษฐานต่อเราเกี่ยวกับเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย เราได้ยินแล้ว
21This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
21นี่คือพระดำรัสที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสเกี่ยวกับเขาว่า “ธิดาพรหมจารีแห่งศิโยน ดูหมิ่น และเยาะเย้ยเจ้า ธิดาแห่งเยรูซาเล็มส่ายศีรษะเยาะเย้ยเจ้า
22Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
22เจ้าท้าทาย และหมิ่นประมาทใคร? เจ้าขึ้นเสียงใส่ใคร และเงยหน้ามองอย่างหยิ่งผยองต่อใคร? ก็ต่อองค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอล
23By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
23เจ้าใช้ผู้นำสารของเจ้าท้าทายองค์เจ้า และพูดว่า ‘ด้วยรถศึกจำนวนมากของข้า ข้าขึ้นไปถึงยอดภูเขาถึงส่วนลึกที่สุดของเลบานอน ข้าจะโค่นต้นซีดาร์สูง และต้นไซเปรสชั้นดีของมัน ข้าจะเข้าไปถึงที่พักอันไกลที่สุดของมันถึงป่าแห่งทุ่งอุดมสมบูรณ์ของมัน
24I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.
24ข้าขุดบ่อ และดื่มน้ำในดินแดนต่างถิ่น และข้าจะทำให้แม่น้ำทั้งหมดของอียิปต์แห้งด้วยฝ่าเท้าของข้า’
25Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
25เจ้าไม่เคยได้ยินหรือว่าเรากำหนดเรื่องนี้ไว้นานแล้ว และวางรูปแบบไว้แต่โบราณกาล บัดนี้เราทำให้มันเกิดขึ้นเพื่อให้เจ้าทำลายเมืองที่มีป้อมจนกลายเป็นกองซากปรักหักพัง
26Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
26เพราะฉะนั้นชาวเมืองเหล่านั้นจึงมีกำลังน้อย พวกเขาหวาดกลัว และสับสน พวกเขาเป็นเหมือนหญ้าในทุ่งเหมือนพืชเขียวเหมือนหญ้าบนหลังคา และเหมือนธัญพืชที่เหี่ยวแห้งก่อนจะโตเต็มที่
27But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
27แต่เรารู้การนั่งลงของเจ้า การออกไปและกลับมาของเจ้า และความเดือดดาลของเจ้าต่อเรา
28Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
28เพราะเจ้าเดือดดาลต่อเรา และความหยิ่งยโสของเจ้าขึ้นมาถึงหูเรา ดังนั้นเราจะเอาขอเกี่ยวจมูกของเจ้า และบังเหียนใส่ริมฝีปากของเจ้าแล้วเราจะพาเจ้ากลับไปทางเดิมที่เจ้ามา”
29And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
29“นี่จะเป็นหมายสำคัญสำหรับเจ้า ปีนี้พวกเจ้าจะกินสิ่งที่งอกขึ้นเอง ปีที่สองจะกินสิ่งที่งอกต่อจากนั้น และในปีที่สามจงหว่าน และเก็บเกี่ยวปลูกสวนองุ่น และกินผลของมัน
30And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
30คนที่เหลือรอดจากวงศ์ยูดาห์จะหยั่งรากลงข้างล่างอีกครั้ง และออกผลข้างบน
31For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
31เพราะคนที่เหลือจะออกมาจากเยรูซาเล็ม และคนที่รอดพ้นจะออกมาจากภูเขาศิโยน ความมุ่งมั่นแรงกล้าของพระยาห์เวห์จะทำให้สิ่งนี้สำเร็จ
32Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
32“ดังนั้นพระยาห์เวห์ตรัสเกี่ยวกับกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียว่า ‘เขาจะไม่เข้ามาในเมืองนี้ และจะไม่ยิงลูกธนูเข้ามาที่นี่ เขาจะไม่เข้ามาประชิดเมืองพร้อมโล่ และจะไม่สร้างเนินล้อมเมือง
33By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD .
33เขามาทางไหนก็จะกลับไปทางนั้น และจะไม่เข้ามาในเมืองนี้’ พระยาห์เวห์ตรัส
34For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
34‘เพราะเราจะป้องกันเมืองนี้เพื่อช่วยเมืองนี้ให้รอด เพราะเห็นแก่ตัวเราเอง และเพราะเห็นแก่ดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเรา’”
35¶ And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
35คืนนั้นทูตสวรรค์ของพระยาห์เวห์ออกไป และสังหารคนหนึ่งแสนแปดหมื่นห้าพันคนในค่ายของชาวอัสซีเรีย เมื่อผู้คนตื่นขึ้นแต่เช้า ดูสิคนเหล่านั้นกลายเป็นศพทั้งหมด
36So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
36เซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียจึงถอนทัพกลับไป และอาศัยอยู่ที่นีนะเวห์
37And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.
37ขณะที่เขากำลังนมัสการในวิหารของนิสโรคเทพเจ้าของเขา อัดรัมเมเลค และชาเรเซอร์ก็ฟันเขาด้วยดาบแล้วหนีไปยังแผ่นดินอารารัต เอสารฮัดโดนบุตรของเขาขึ้นครองราชย์แทน
