1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and lay up my commandments with thee;
1ลูกเอ๋ย ถ้ารับถ้อยคำของพ่อไว้ และเก็บคำบัญชาของพ่อไว้ในใจ
2So that thou make thine ear attend unto wisdom, and thy heart incline to discernment;
2ถ้าเงี่ยหูฟังปัญญา และตั้งใจใฝ่ความเข้าใจ
3Yea, if thou call for understanding, and lift up thy voice for discernment;
3ถ้าร้องหาความหยั่งรู้ และส่งเสียงขอความเข้าใจ
4If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures;
4ถ้าเสาะหาปัญญาดุจหาเงิน และค้นหาดุจหาขุมทรัพย์ที่ซ่อนอยู่
5Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
5เมื่อนั้นจะเข้าใจการยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์ และจะได้รู้จักพระเจ้า
6For the LORD giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and discernment;
6พระยาห์เวห์ทรงประทานปัญญา ความรู้และความเข้าใจมาจากถ้อยคำของพระองค์
7He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright, He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
7พระองค์ทรงเก็บปัญญาอันมั่นคงไว้ให้คนซื่อตรง ทรงเป็นโล่แก่ผู้ดำเนินชีวิตด้วยความซื่อสัตย์
8That He may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of His godly ones.
8พระองค์ทรงปกป้องทางแห่งความยุติธรรม และรักษาหนทางของผู้ภักดีต่อพระองค์
9Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity, yea, every good path.
9เมื่อนั้นจะเข้าใจความเที่ยงธรรม ความยุติธรรม และความเป็นธรรม รวมทั้งทุกทางที่ดี
10For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;
10ปัญญาจะเข้าไปในใจ และความรู้จะเป็นที่ชื่นใจ
11Discretion shall watch over thee, discernment shall guard thee;
11ความรอบคอบจะคอยดูแล ความเข้าใจจะคอยคุ้มครอง
12To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the men that speak froward things;
12ช่วยให้พ้นจากทางชั่ว และจากคนที่พูดบิดเบือน
13Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
13คนเหล่านั้นละทิ้งทางอันเที่ยงตรง แล้วไปเดินในทางมืด
14Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of evil;
14พวกเขายินดีเมื่อได้ทำชั่ว และเพลิดเพลินกับการทำชั่วที่ผิดเพี้ยน
15Who are crooked in their ways, and perverse in their paths;
15ทางของพวกเขาคดเคี้ยว ทุกย่างก้าวก็หลงผิด
16To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the alien woman that maketh smooth her words;
16และช่วยให้พ้นจากหญิงอื่น จากหญิงต่างถิ่นที่ใช้คำหวานล่อลวง
17That forsaketh the lord of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
17นางทอดทิ้งคนที่เคียงข้างนางมาตั้งแต่วัยสาว และลืมพันธสัญญาของพระเจ้าของนาง
18For her house sinketh down unto death, and her paths unto the shades;
18บ้านของนางนำลงสู่ความตาย หนทางของนางไปสู่เหล่าวิญญาณผู้ล่วงลับ
19None that go unto her return, neither do they attain unto the paths of life;
19คนที่เข้าไปหานางไม่มีใครกลับมา และไม่พบหนทางแห่งชีวิตอีก
20That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
20ดังนั้น จงเดินในทางของคนดี และเดินตามหนทางของคนเที่ยงธรรม
21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the whole-hearted shall remain in it.
21คนซื่อตรงจะอาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดิน คนไร้ตำหนิจะคงอยู่ในนั้น
22But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the faithless shall be plucked up out of it.
22แต่คนชั่วจะถูกตัดออกจากแผ่นดิน คนไม่ซื่อสัตย์จะถูกถอนรากออกไป
