1And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit harlotry with the daughters of Moab.
1و اسرائیل در شطیم اقامت نمودند، وقوم با دختران موآب زنا کردن گرفتند.
2And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods; and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
2زیرا که ایشان قوم را به قربانی های خدایان خوددعوت نمودند، پس قوم می‌خوردند و به خدایان ایشان سجده می‌نمودند.
3And Israel joined himself unto the Baal of Peor; and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
3و اسرائیل به بعل فغورملحق شدند، و غضب خداوند بر اسرائیل افروخته شد.
4And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up unto the LORD in face of the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel.'
4و خداوند به موسی گفت که: «تمامی روسای قوم را گرفته، ایشان را برای خداوند پیش آفتاب به دار بکش، تا شدت خشم خداوند از اسرائیل برگردد.»
5And Moses said unto the judges of Israel: 'Slay ye every one his men that have joined themselves unto the Baal of Peor.'
5و موسی به داوران اسرائیل گفت که «هر یکی از شما کسان خود راکه به بعل فغور ملحق شدند، بکشید.»
6And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, while they were weeping at the door of the tent of meeting.
6و اینک مردی از بنی‌اسرائیل آمده، زن مدیانی‌ای را در نظر موسی و در نظر تمامی جماعت بنی‌اسرائیل نزد برادران خود آورد، وایشان به دروازه خیمه اجتماع گریه می‌کردند.
7And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation, and took a spear in his hand.
7وچون فینحاس بن العازار بن هارون کاهن، این رادید، از میان جماعت برخاسته، نیزه‌ای به‌دست خود گرفت،
8And he went after the man of Israel into the chamber, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
8و از عقب آن مرد اسرائیلی به قبه داخل شده، هر دوی ایشان یعنی آن مرداسرائیلی و زن را به شکمش فرو برد، و وبا ازبنی‌اسرائیل رفع شد.
9And those that died by the plague were twenty and four thousand.
9و آنانی که از وبا مردند، بیست و چهار هزار نفر بودند.
10And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
10و خداوند موسی را خطاب کرده، گفت:
11'Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned My wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was very jealous for My sake among them, so that I consumed not the children of Israel in My jealousy.
11«فینحاس بن العازار بن هارون کاهن، غضب مرااز بنی‌اسرائیل برگردانید، چونکه باغیرت من درمیان ایشان غیور شد، تا بنی‌اسرائیل را در غیرت خود هلاک نسازم.
12Wherefore say: Behold, I give unto him My covenant of peace;
12لهذا بگو اینک عهدسلامتی خود را به او می‌بخشم.
13and it shall be unto him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.'
13و برای او وبرای ذریتش بعد از او این عهد کهانت جاودانی خواهد بود، زیرا که برای خدای خود غیور شد، وبجهت بنی‌اسرائیل کفاره نمود.»
14Now the name of the man of Israel that was slain, who was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers' house among the Simeonites.
14و اسم آن مرد اسرائیلی مقتول که با زن مدیانی کشته گردید، زمری ابن سالو رئیس خاندان آبای سبط شمعون بود.
15And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head of the people of a fathers' house in Midian.
15و اسم زن مدیانی که کشته شد، کزبی دختر صور بود و اورئیس قوم خاندان آبا در مدیان بود.
16And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
16و خداوند موسی را خطاب کرده، گفت:
17'Harass the Midianites, and smite them;
17«مدیانیان را ذلیل ساخته، مغلوب سازید.
18for they harass you, by their wiles wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.'
18زیرا که ایشان شما را به مکاید خود ذلیل ساختند، چونکه شما را در واقعه فغور و در امرخواهر خود کزبی، دختر رئیس مدیان، که در روزوبا در واقعه فغور کشته شد، فریب دادند.»
