1Now these are the generations of Esau — the same is Edom.
1ואלה תלדות עשו הוא אדום׃
2Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,
2עשו לקח את נשיו מבנות כנען את עדה בת אילון החתי ואת אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון החוי׃
3and Basemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebaioth.
3ואת בשמת בת ישמעאל אחות נביות׃
4And Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; and Basemath bore Reuel;
4ותלד עדה לעשו את אליפז ובשמת ילדה את רעואל׃
5and Oholibamah bore Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, that were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
5ואהליבמה ילדה את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח אלה בני עשו אשר ילדו לו בארץ כנען׃
6And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the souls of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan; and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.
6ויקח עשו את נשיו ואת בניו ואת בנתיו ואת כל נפשות ביתו ואת מקנהו ואת כל בהמתו ואת כל קנינו אשר רכש בארץ כנען וילך אל ארץ מפני יעקב אחיו׃
7For their substance was too great for them to dwell together; and the land of their sojournings could not bear them because of their cattle.
7כי היה רכושם רב משבת יחדו ולא יכלה ארץ מגוריהם לשאת אתם מפני מקניהם׃
8And Esau dwelt in the mountain-land of Seir — Esau is Edom.
8וישב עשו בהר שעיר עשו הוא אדום׃
9And these are the generations of Esau the father of a the Edomites in the mountain-land of Seir.
9ואלה תלדות עשו אבי אדום בהר שעיר׃
10These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.
10אלה שמות בני עשו אליפז בן עדה אשת עשו רעואל בן בשמת אשת עשו׃
11And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.
11ויהיו בני אליפז תימן אומר צפו וגעתם וקנז׃
12And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek. These are the sons of Adah Esau's wife.
12ותמנע היתה פילגש לאליפז בן עשו ותלד לאליפז את עמלק אלה בני עדה אשת עשו׃
13And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath Esau's wife.
13ואלה בני רעואל נחת וזרח שמה ומזה אלה היו בני בשמת אשת עשו׃
14And these were the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife; and she bore to Esau Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah.
14ואלה היו בני אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון אשת עשו ותלד לעשו את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח׃
15These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the first-born of Esau: the chief of Teman, the chief of Omar, the chief of Zepho, the chief of Kenaz,
15אלה אלופי בני עשו בני אליפז בכור עשו אלוף תימן אלוף אומר אלוף צפו אלוף קנז׃
16the chief of Korah, the chief of Gatam, the chief of Amalek. These are the chiefs that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Adah.
16אלוף קרח אלוף געתם אלוף עמלק אלה אלופי אליפז בארץ אדום אלה בני עדה׃
17And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son: the chief of Nahath, the chief of Zerah, the chief of Shammah, the chief of Mizzah. These are the chiefs that came of Reuel in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Basemath Esau's wife.
17ואלה בני רעואל בן עשו אלוף נחת אלוף זרח אלוף שמה אלוף מזה אלה אלופי רעואל בארץ אדום אלה בני בשמת אשת עשו׃
18And these are the sons of Oholibamah Esau's wife: the chief of Jeush, the chief of Jalam, the chief of Korah. These are the chiefs that came of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.
18ואלה בני אהליבמה אשת עשו אלוף יעוש אלוף יעלם אלוף קרח אלה אלופי אהליבמה בת ענה אשת עשו׃
19These are the sons of Esau, and these are their chiefs; the same is Edom.
19אלה בני עשו ואלה אלופיהם הוא אדום׃
20These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan and Shobal and Zibeon and Anah,
20אלה בני שעיר החרי ישבי הארץ לוטן ושובל וצבעון וענה׃
21and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan. These are the chiefs that came of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.
21ודשון ואצר ודישן אלה אלופי החרי בני שעיר בארץ אדום׃
22And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.
22ויהיו בני לוטן חרי והימם ואחות לוטן תמנע׃
23And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
23ואלה בני שובל עלון ומנחת ועיבל שפו ואונם׃
24And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah — this is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.
24ואלה בני צבעון ואיה וענה הוא ענה אשר מצא את הימם במדבר ברעתו את החמרים לצבעון אביו׃
25And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah.
25ואלה בני ענה דשן ואהליבמה בת ענה׃
26And these are the children of Dishon: Hemdan and Eshban and Ithran and Cheran.
26ואלה בני דישן חמדן ואשבן ויתרן וכרן׃
27These are the children of Ezer: Bilhan and Zaavan and Akan.
27אלה בני אצר בלהן וזעון ועקן׃
28These are the children of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
28אלה בני דישן עוץ וארן׃
29These are the chiefs that came of the Horites: the chief of Lotan, the chief of Shobal, the chief of Zibeon, the chief of Anah,
29אלה אלופי החרי אלוף לוטן אלוף שובל אלוף צבעון אלוף ענה׃
30the chief of Dishon, the chief of Ezer, the chief of Dishan. These are the chiefs that came of the Horites, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir.
30אלוף דשן אלוף אצר אלוף דישן אלה אלופי החרי לאלפיהם בארץ שעיר׃
31And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
31ואלה המלכים אשר מלכו בארץ אדום לפני מלך מלך לבני ישראל׃
32And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
32וימלך באדום בלע בן בעור ושם עירו דנהבה׃
33And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.
33וימת בלע וימלך תחתיו יובב בן זרח מבצרה׃
34And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.
34וימת יובב וימלך תחתיו חשם מארץ התימני׃
35And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Avith.
35וימת חשם וימלך תחתיו הדד בן בדד המכה את מדין בשדה מואב ושם עירו עוית׃
36And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.
36וימת הדד וימלך תחתיו שמלה ממשרקה׃
37And Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the River reigned in his stead.
37וימת שמלה וימלך תחתיו שאול מרחבות הנהר׃
38And Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.
38וימת שאול וימלך תחתיו בעל חנן בן עכבור׃
39And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead; and the name of the city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.
39וימת בעל חנן בן עכבור וימלך תחתיו הדר ושם עירו פעו ושם אשתו מהיטבאל בת מטרד בת מי זהב׃
40And these are the names of the chiefs that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names: the chief of Timna, the chief of Alvah, the chief of Jetheth;
40ואלה שמות אלופי עשו למשפחתם למקמתם בשמתם אלוף תמנע אלוף עלוה אלוף יתת׃
41the chief of Oholibamah, the chief of Elah, the chief of Pinon;
41אלוף אהליבמה אלוף אלה אלוף פינן׃
42the chief of Kenaz, the chief of Teman, the chief of Mibzar;
42אלוף קנז אלוף תימן אלוף מבצר׃
43the chief of Magdiel, the chief of Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esau the father of the Edomites.
43אלוף מגדיאל אלוף עירם אלה אלופי אדום למשבתם בארץ אחזתם הוא עשו אבי אדום׃
