1キリストが与えてくださった自由のうちに、堅く立ちなさい。再び奴隷のくびきにつながれてはなりません。
1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2よく聞いてください。私パウロがあなたがたに言います。もし割礼を受けるなら、キリストはあなたがたにとって何の益にもなりません。
2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3割礼を受けるすべての人に、もう一度はっきり言います。その人には、律法のすべてを行う義務があります。
3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4律法によって義とされようとするあなたがたは、キリストから切り離され、恵みから落ちてしまいました。
4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5私たちは聖霊により、信仰によって、義とされる望みの実現を待ち望んでいます。
5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6キリスト・イエスにあっては、割礼を受けているかいないかは何の意味もありません。大切なのは、愛を通して働く信仰です。
6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7あなたがたは順調に走っていました。それなのに、だれが行く手を阻み、真理に従わないようにしたのですか。
7Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8そのような説得は、あなたがたを召してくださる方から出たものではありません。
8This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9わずかなパン種が、練り粉全体を膨らませます。
9A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
10あなたがたが別の考えを持つことはないと、私は主にあって確信しています。しかし、あなたがたをかき乱す者は、だれであろうと裁きを受けます。
10I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
11兄弟たち、もし私が今も割礼を宣べ伝えているのなら、なぜ今も迫害されているのでしょうか。もしそうなら、十字架のつまずきは取り除かれているはずです。
11And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
12あなたがたをかき乱す者たちは、いっそ自らを去勢してしまえばよいのです。
12I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13兄弟たち、あなたがたは自由を得るために召されました。ただし、その自由を、肉の欲望に従う口実としてはなりません。かえって、愛によって互いに仕えなさい。
13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14律法全体は、「あなたの隣人を自分自身のように愛しなさい」という一つのことばに尽きています。
14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15しかし、互いにかみつき、食い尽くし合っているなら、互いを滅ぼしてしまわないように気をつけなさい。
15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16そこで私は言います。聖霊に従って歩みなさい。そうすれば、肉の欲望を決して満たすことはありません。
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17肉の望みは聖霊に逆らい、聖霊の望みは肉に逆らいます。この二つは互いに対立しているため、あなたがたは望むことを思いどおりに行えません。
17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18しかし、聖霊に導かれているなら、あなたがたは律法の下にはいません。
18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19肉の行いは明らかです。すなわち、姦淫、淫らな行い、汚れ、好色、
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20偶像礼拝、魔術、敵意、争い、ねたみ、怒りの爆発、対抗意識、分裂、異端、
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21そねみ、殺人、泥酔、酒宴、これらに類することです。以前にも警告したように、今も警告しておきます。このようなことを行い続ける者は、神の王国を受け継ぐことがありません。
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22しかし、聖霊の実は、愛、喜び、平安、忍耐、親切、善良、信仰、
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23柔和、自制です。このようなものを禁じる律法はありません。
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24キリストに属する人々は、情欲と欲望と共に、肉を十字架につけたのです。
24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25私たちが聖霊によって生きているのなら、聖霊に従って歩みましょう。
25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26うぬぼれて、互いに挑発し合ったり、ねたみ合ったりしないようにしましょう。
26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
