1神は昔、預言者たちを通して、幾度にもわたり、さまざまな仕方で父祖たちに語られました。
1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2しかし、この終わりの日々には御子によって私たちに語られました。神は御子を万物の相続者と定め、また御子を通して世界を造られました。
2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3御子は神の栄光の輝き、神の本質そのものを映す方であり、その力ある言葉によって万物を支えておられます。御子は自ら私たちの罪を清めた後、天の高い所で大いなる方の右に座られました。
3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4御子は、御使いたちの名よりはるかに優れた名を受け継がれたように、御使いたちよりもはるかに優れた方となられました。
4Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5神は、御使いのだれに向かって、かつてこう言われたでしょうか。 「あなたはわたしの子。 今日、わたしはあなたの父となった。」 また、こうも言われました。 「わたしは彼の父となり、 彼はわたしの子となる。」
5For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6また神が初子を再び世界に導き入れる時には、こう言われます。「神の御使いたちは皆、彼を礼拝せよ。」
6And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7御使いたちについては、こう言われます。 「神は御使いたちを風とし、 ご自分に仕える者たちを燃える炎とされる。」
7And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8しかし、御子についてはこう言われます。 「神よ、あなたの王座は永遠に続く。 公正の杖が、あなたの王国の杖である。
8But unto the Son he saith , Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9あなたは義を愛し、不法を憎んだ。 それゆえ、神、あなたの神は、仲間たちにまさって、喜びの油をあなたに注がれた。」
9Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10また、こうも言われます。 「主よ、あなたは初めに地の基を据えられた。 天はあなたの手の業である。
10And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11それらは滅びるが、あなたはいつまでもおられる。 それらはすべて衣のように古びる。
11They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12あなたはそれらを外套のように巻き上げ、 それらは変えられる。 しかし、あなたは変わらず、 あなたの年月は尽きることがない。」
12And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13神は、御使いのだれに向かって、かつてこう言われたでしょうか。 「わたしの右に座れ。 わたしがあなたの敵を、あなたの足台とするまで。」
13But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14御使いたちは皆、救いを受け継ぐ人々のために仕えるよう遣わされた霊ではありませんか。
14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
