1最後に兄弟たち、私たちのために祈ってください。主のことばが、あなたがたのところでそうであったように、速やかに広がり、栄光を受けますように。
1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you.
2また、私たちが道理をわきまえない悪い人々から救い出されますように。すべての人に信仰があるわけではないからです。
2And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not everyone holds to the faith.
3しかし、主は真実な方です。主はあなたがたを堅く立たせ、悪い者から守ってくださいます。
3But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
4私たちは主にあって、あなたがたが私たちの命じることを今も行い、これからも行うと確信しています。
4And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
5主が、あなたがたの心を神の愛とキリストにある忍耐へと向けてくださいますように。
5May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
6兄弟たち、私たちの主イエス・キリストの名によって、あなたがたに命じます。秩序を乱した生活をし、私たちから受けた教えに従わない兄弟から離れなさい。
6Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us.
7私たちにどのように倣うべきかは、あなたがた自身が知っています。私たちは、あなたがたの間で秩序を乱すような生活をせず、
7For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not undisciplined among you,
8だれのパンも、ただで食べることはしませんでした。むしろ、あなたがたのだれにも負担をかけないように、労苦を重ね、夜昼働きました。
8nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
9それは、私たちにその権利がないからではなく、あなたがたが私たちに倣うよう、自分たちを模範として示すためでした。
9Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
10私たちは、あなたがたと一緒にいた時にも、「働こうとしない者は、食べてはならない」と命じました。
10For even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “If anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat.”
11ところが聞くところによると、あなたがたの中には秩序を乱した生活をし、少しも働かず、かえって他人のことに口を出している人たちがいるとのことです。
11Yet we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives and accomplishing nothing but being busybodies.
12そのような人たちに、静かに働き、自分のパンを食べるよう、主イエス・キリストにあって命じ、勧めます。
12We command and urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to earn their own living.
13しかし兄弟たち、正しいことを行うのに、くじけてはなりません。
13But as for you, brothers, do not grow weary in well-doing.
14この手紙に記した私たちのことばに従わない人がいれば、その人がだれかを見定め、交わりを持たないようにしなさい。その人が恥じるようになるためです。
14Take note of anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.
15けれども、その人を敵とはみなさず、兄弟として戒めなさい。
15Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
16どうか、平和の主ご自身が、いつでも、あらゆる仕方で、あなたがたに平和を与えてくださいますように。主があなたがたすべてとともにおられますように。
16Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
17私パウロが、自分の手でこのあいさつを書きます。これはどの手紙にもある印です。これが私の筆跡です。
17This greeting is in my own hand—Paul. This is my mark in every letter; it is the way I write.
18私たちの主イエス・キリストの恵みが、あなたがたすべてとともにありますように。アーメン。
