1ソロモンが主の家と王の家、また自分が喜んで行おうとしたすべてのことを建て終えたとき、
1And it came to pass when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all that he desired, and was pleased to do,
2主はかつてギベオンで彼に現れたように、二度目にソロモンに現れた。
2That the Lord appeared to him the second time, as he had appeared to him in Gabaon.
3主は彼に言われた。「わたしは、あなたがわたしの前にささげた祈りと願いを聞いた。わたしはあなたが建てたこの家を聖別し、わたしの名をそこにとこしえに置く。わたしの目とわたしの心は、常にそこにある。
3And the Lord said to him: I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, which thou hast made before me: I have sanctified this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever, and my eyes and my heart shall be there always.
4あなたについて言えば、もしあなたが、あなたの父ダビデが歩んだように、全き心とまっすぐな心をもってわたしの前を歩み、わたしがあなたに命じたすべてのことにしたがって行い、わたしの定めとわたしの掟を守るなら、
4And if thou wilt walk before me, as thy father walked, in simplicity of heart, and in uprightness: and wilt do all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my ordinances and my judgments,
5わたしは、あなたの父ダビデに、『イスラエルの王座に座る者があなたから絶えることはない』と約束したとおり、イスラエルを治めるあなたの王座をとこしえに堅く立てる。
5I will establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, as I promised David thy father, saying: There shall not fail a man of thy race upon the throne of Israel.
6しかし、もしあなたがた、あるいはあなたがたの子らがわたしに従うことから背き去り、わたしがあなたがたの前に置いたわたしの戒めとわたしの定めを守らず、行って他の神々に仕え、それらを拝むなら、
6But if you and your children revolting shall turn away from following me, and will not keep my commandments, and my ceremonies, which I have set before you, but will go and worship strange gods, and adore them:
7わたしは、与えた地からイスラエルを断ち切り、わたしの名のために聖別したこの家を、わたしの前から投げ捨てる。イスラエルはあらゆる民の間で、ことわざとなり、笑いぐさとなる。
7I will take away Israel from the face of the land which I have given them; and the temple which I have sanctified to my name, I will cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb, and a byword among all people.
8この家は高くそびえていても、そこを通る者は皆、驚いてあざけり、「なぜ主はこの地とこの家に、このようなことをされたのか」と言う。
8And this house shall be made an example of: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and shall hiss, and say: Why hath the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house:
9そして彼らは答えるであろう。『彼らが自分たちの父祖たちをエジプトの地から導き出された彼らの神、主を捨てて、他の神々を堅く握り、それらを拝み、それらに仕えたからだ。それゆえ、主はこのすべての悪を彼らの上にもたらされたのである。』」
9And they shall answer: Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and followed strange gods, and adored them, and worshipped them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.
10ソロモンが二つの家、すなわち主の家と王の家を建てた二十年の終わりに、
10And when twenty years were ended after Solomon had built the two houses, that is, the house of the Lord, and the house of the king,
11（ツロの王ヒラムはソロモンに、杉の木、糸杉の木、および金を、彼のすべての願いにしたがって提供していたので）、ソロモン王はガリラヤの地にある二十の町をヒラムに与えた。
11(Hiram the king of Tyre furnishing Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and gold according to all he had need of.) then Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
12ヒラムはソロモンが彼に与えた町々を見るためにツロから出て来たが、それらは彼の気に入らなかった。
12And Hiram came out of Tyre, to see the towns which Solomon had given him, and they pleased him not,
13彼は言った。「わが兄弟よ、あなたがわたしに与えたこれらの町は何ですか。」そして彼はそれらをカブル の地と呼んだ。その名は今日に至っている。
13And he said: Are these the cities which thou hast given me, brother? And he called them the land of Chabul, unto this day.
14ヒラムは百二十タラント の金を王に送っていた。
14And Hiram sent to king Solomon a hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15ソロモン王が強制労働を徴用した理由はこれである。主の家、自分の家、ミロ、エルサレムの城壁、ハツォル、メギド、そしてゲゼルを建てるためであった。
15This is the sum of the expenses, which king Solomon offered to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Mello, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Heser, and Mageddo, and Gazer.
16エジプトの王ファラオは上って来てゲゼルを攻め取り、それを火で焼き、その町に住んでいたカナン人を殺し、それをソロモンの妻である自分の娘への結婚の贈り物として与えていた。
16Pharao the king of Egypt came up and took Gazer, and burnt it with fire: and slew the Chanaanite that dwelt in the city, and gave it for a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
17ソロモンはゲゼル、下ベテ・ホロン、
17So Solomon built: Gazer, and Beth-horon the nether,
18バアラテ、およびその地の荒野にあるタマルを建てた。
18And Baalath, and Palmira in the land of the wilderness.
19また、ソロモンが持っていたすべての倉庫の町、戦車の町、騎兵の町、そしてエルサレム、レバノン、その支配する全土で、ソロモンが望んで建てようとしたものを建てた。
19And all the towns that belonged to himself, and were not walled, he fortified, the cities also of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and whatsoever he had a mind to build in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all the land of his dominion.
20イスラエルの子らではない、アモリ人、ヘテ人、ペリジ人、ヒビ人、エブス人の残りのすべての民について言えば、
20All the people that were left of the Amorrhites, and Hethites, and Pherezites, and Hevites, and Jebusites, that are not of the children of Israel:
21イスラエルの子らが滅ぼし尽くすことのできなかった、その地に残された彼らの子孫を、ソロモンは強制労働の奴隷として徴用した。それは今日に至っている。
21Their children, that were left in the land, to wit, such as the children of Israel had not been able to destroy, Solomon made tributary unto this day.
22しかし、イスラエルの子らの中からは、ソロモンはだれも奴隷にしなかった。彼らは戦士、彼のしもべ、彼の君主、彼の隊長、また彼の戦車と騎兵の長たちであった。
22But of the children of Israel Solomon made not any to be bondmen, but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and captains, and overseers of the chariots and horses.
23これらはソロモンの仕事を監督する主な役人たちで、五百五十人おり、仕事で働く民を支配していた。
23And there were five hundred and fifty chief officers set over all the works of Solomon, and they had people under them, and had charge over the appointed works.
24しかし、ファラオの娘がダビデの町から、ソロモンが彼女のために建てた彼女の家に上って来た。その後、彼はミロを建てた。
24And the daughter of Pharao came up out of the city of David to her house, which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Mello.
25ソロモンは年に三度、主のために築いた祭壇で全焼のささげ物と和解のいけにえをささげ、主の前にある祭壇で香をたいた。こうして彼は神殿を完成させた。
25Solomon also offered three times every year holocausts, and victims of peace offerings upon the altar which he had built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord: and the temple was finished.
26ソロモン王は、エドムの地にあり、紅海の岸辺のエロテのそばにあるエツヨン・ゲベルで船団を造った。
26And king Solomon made a fleet in Asiongaber, which is by Ailath on the shore of the Red Sea in the land of Edom.
27ヒラムはその船団に、海を知っている水夫である自分のしもべたちを、ソロモンのしもべたちと一緒に遣わした。
27And Hiram sent his servants in the fleet, sailors that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.
28彼らはオフィルへ行き、そこから四百二十タラント の金を取り、それをソロモン王のもとに持って来た。
28And they came to Ophir, and they brought from thence to king Solomon four hundred and twenty talents of gold.
