1Then Job answered, and said:
1Te phoeiah Job loh a doo tih tih,
2Hear, I beseech you, my words, and do penance.
2Ka ol hnatun, hnatun lamtah te te nangmih kah hloephloeinah om saeh.
3Suffer me, and I will speak, and after, if you please, laugh at my words.
3Ka thui vaengah kai ol he ueh mai lamtah ka thui hnukah nan tamdaeng akhaw.
4Is my debate against man, that I should not have just reason to be troubled?
4Kai khaw ka kohuetnah he hlang hut a? Balae tih ka mueihla loh a ngen pawt mai eh?
5Hearken to me and be astonished, and lay your finger on your mouth.
5Kai taengla a mael vaengah hal tih a kut neh a ka te a puei.
6As for me, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
6Ka poek bal vaengah ka let tih ka pumsa he tuennah loh a tuuk.
7Why then do the wicked live, are they advanced, and strengthened with riches?
7Halang rhoek tah haimo la a hing uh akhaw balae tih tatthai la a len uh.
8Their seed continueth before them, a multitude of kinsmen, and of children’s children in their sight.
8A mikhmuh kah a tiingan rhoek neh a mikhmuh kah a cadil cahma khaw amih taengah a cikngae sak.
9Their houses are secure and peaceable, and the rod of God is not upon them.
9Amih im khaw birhihnah lamloh ngaimongnah la om tih Pathen kah conghol loh amih soah cuk thil pawh.
10Their cattle have conceived, and failed not: their cow has calved, and is not deprived of her fruit.
10A vaito a pil vaengah a vaito a pom khaw tuei pawt tih thangyah tlaih pawh.
11Their little ones go out like a flock, and their children dance and play.
11A casenca rhoek te boiva bangla a hlah uh tih a camoe rhoek loh soipet uh.
12They take the timbrel, and the harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
12Kamrhing neh rhotoeng te a phueih uh tih phavi ol neh a kohoe uh.
13They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment they go down to hell.
13Amamih vaengkah tue then khuiah muei uh tih hmawn uh. Mikhaptok ah saelkhui la ael uh.
14Who have said to God: Depart from us, we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
14Tedae Pathen taengah, “Kaimih taeng lamloh nong laeh. Na longpuei ming ham ka ngaih uh moenih.
15Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what doth it profit us if we pray to him?
15Anih taengah thothueng ham khaw unim tlungthang? A taengah n'cuuk uh ham khaw balae a hoeikhang eh?” a ti uh.
16Yet because their good things are not in their hand, may the counsel of the wicked be far from me.
16Amih kah thennah khaw amamih kut ah om pawt lah ko ke. Halang rhoek kah cilsuep te kai lamloh lakhla saeh.
17How often shall the lamp of the wicked be put out, and a deluge come upon them, and he shall distribute the sorrows of his wrath?
17Halang rhoek kah hmaithoi tah metlam khaw thi tih amamih kah rhainah amamih soah a thoeng pah. A thintoek neh a rhilong a suem pah.
18They shall be as chaff before the face of the wind, and as ashes which the whirlwind scattereth.
18Khohli hmai ah cangkong bangla om uh tih cangkik bangla cangpalam loh a khuen.
19God shall lay up the sorrow of the father for his children: and when he shall repay, then shall he know.
19Pathen loh a ca rhoek ham a khoem coeng. A boethae te amah taengah thuung saeh lamtah ming saeh.
20His eyes shall see his own destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
20A sitlohthamlam te a mik, a mik ah tueng saeh lamtah tlungthang kah kosi te mam sak saeh.
21For what is it to him what befalleth his house after him: and if the number of his months be diminished by one half?
21A hnukah a imkhui ham a kongaih te balae? A hla kah a tarhing khaw bawt coeng.
22Shall any one teach God knowledge, who judgeth those that are high?
22Pathen te mingnah a tukkil a? Amah he pomsang tih lai a tloek.
23One man dieth strong, and hale, rich and happy.
23A cungkuem dongah bidipbisok tih thayoeituipan la amah kah thincaknah rhuhrhong neh aka duek he,
24His bowels are full of fat, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
24A rhangsuk khaw suktui buem tih a rhuh hliing khaw sulpuem.
25But another dieth in bitterness of soul without any riches:
25Hinglu khahing la duek tih hnothen aka ca pawt he khaw,
26And yet they shall sleep together in the dust, and worms shall cover them.
26laipi khuiah rhenten yalh tih a rhit loh a soah a yol.
27Surely I know your thoughts, and your unjust judgments against me.
27Nangmih kah kopoek ka ming phoeiah tangkhuepnah neh kai soah nan hul ni te.
28For you say: Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
28“Hlangcong im te menim? Halang tolhmuen kah dap te menim?” na ti uh.
29Ask any one of them that go by the way, and you shall perceive that he knoweth these same things.
29Longpuei aka poeng rhoek te na dawt uh pawt tih amih kah miknoek khaw na hmat uh pawt nim?
30Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction, and he shall be brought to the day of wrath.
30Rhainah khohnin lamloh boethae te a tuem tih thinpom khohnin lamloh a khuen te ta.
31Who shall reprove his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
31A khoboe te a mikhmuh ah aka phoe pah te unim? A saii bangla a taengah aka thuung te unim?
32He shall be brought to the graves, and shall watch in the heap of the dead.
32Anih khaw phuel la a khuen vaengah laivuei ni a hak thil.
33He hath been acceptable to the gravel of Cocytus, and he shall draw every man after him, and there are innumerable before him.
33Anih ham soklong kah dikmuh khaw tui. Anih hnuk te hlang boeih loh a thoelh tih anih hmai kah hlangmi tae lek pawh.
34How then do ye comfort me in vain, whereas your answer is shewn to be repugnant to truth?
34Te dongah balae tih a honghi la kai he nan hloep uh? Nangmih kah taikhaih khaw boekoeknah la cul coeng,” a ti.
