1Man born of a woman, living for a short time, is filled with many miseries.
1Huta kah a sak hlang he a khohnin toi tih khoponah khaw hah.
2Who cometh forth like a flower, and is destroyed, and fleeth as a shadow, and never continueth in the same state.
2Rhaipai bangla phuelh tih a oh uh. Khokhawn bangla yong tih pai voel pawh.
3And dost thou think it meet to open thy eyes upon such an one, and to bring him into judgment with thee?
3Te soah ngawn tah na mik tueng tih kai he na taengkah laitloeknah dongla na khuen.
4Who can make him clean that is conceived of unclean seed? is it not thou who only art?
4Rhalawt lamloh a cuem la aka khueh te unim? Pakhat pataeng om pawh.
5The days of man are short, and the number of his months is with thee: thou hast appointed his bounds which cannot be passed.
5A khohnin neh a hla taenah khaw namah taengah hangdang. A oltlueh te a oltlueh bangla na saii tih poe thai pawh.
6Depart a little from him, that he may rest, until his wished for day come, as that of the hireling.
6Anih lamloh vawl mangthong lamtah amah hnin at kutloh bangla a ngaingaih hil toeng saeh.
7A tree hath hope: if it be cut, it groweth green again, and the boughs thereof sprout.
7Thing ham tah a vung akhaw ngaiuepnah om pueng. Te dongah koep mikhing vetih a dawn khaw ngoeng mahpawh.
8If its root be old in the earth, and its stock be dead in the dust:
8Diklai khuiah a yung patong mai tih laipi khuiah a ngo duek cakhaw,
9At the scent of water, it shall spring, and bring forth leaves, as when it was first planted.
9tui bo ah duei vetih thinghloe bangla a pae cawn ni.
10But man when he shall be dead, and stripped and consumed, I pray you where is he?
10Tedae hlang tah duek tih rhaa uh coeng. Hlang he a pal phoeiah tah melam a om.
11As if the waters should depart out of the sea, and an emptied river should be dried up:
11Tuitunli lamkah tui khaw khawk dae tuiva loh a khah vaengah tah kak.
12So man when he is fallen asleep shall not rise again; till the heavens be broken, he shall not awake, nor rise up out of his sleep.
12Hlang khaw yalh tih thoo voel pawh. Vaan a om pawt due khaw haenghang pawh. Amih te ih kung lamloh haenghang uh mahpawh.
13Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell, and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a. time when thou wilt remember me?
13Unim saelkhui ah a paek lah ve? Kai he nan khoem lah vetih na thintoek a mael duela kai nan thuh lah mako. Kai hamla oltlueh na khueh vetih kai nan poek mako.
14Shall man that is dead, thinkest thou, live again? all the days in which I am now in warfare, I expect until my change come.
14Hlang he duek koinih hing venim? Kamah kah caempuei hnin boeih he ka thovaelnah a pawk hil ka lamtawn bitni.
15Thou shalt call me, and I will answer thee: to the work of thy hands thou shalt reach out thy right hand.
15Nan khue vaengah kai loh nang te ka doo bitni. Na kut dongkah bibi dongah na moo bitni.
16Thou indeed hast numbered my steps, but spare my sins.
16Ka khokan he na tae pawn vetih ka tholhnah khaw na dawn mahpawh.
17Thou hast sealed up my offences as it were in a bag, but hast cured my iniquity.
17Ka boekoek hnocun khuiah catui a hnah thil tih kai kathaesainah na dah thil bitni.
18A mountain falling cometh to nought, and a rock is removed out of its place.
18Tedae Tlang khaw cungku tih moelh. Lungpang pataeng a hmuen lamloh thoeih.
19Waters wear away the stones, and with inundation the ground by little and little is washed away: so in like manner thou shalt destroy man.
19Lungto khaw tui loh a hoh tih a kongnawt loh diklai laipi a yo. Te dongah hlanghing kah ngaiuepnah na pal sak.
20Thou hast strengthened him for a little while, that he may pass away for ever: thou shalt change his face, and shalt send him away.
20Anih te a yoeyah la na khulae tih a hmai a tal la a van daengah anih te na tueih.
21Whether his children come to honour or dishonour, he shall not understand.
21A ca rhoek a thangpom uh dae a ming moenih. Muei uh cakhaw amih a yakming moenih.
22But yet his flesh, while he shall live, shall have pain, and his soul shall mourn over him.
22Tedae a pumsa tah a taengah tih thak a khoeih tih a hinglu khaw amah hamla nguekcoi,” a ti.
