1And David said in his heart: I shall gone day or other fall into the hands of Saul: is it not better for me to flee, and to be saved in the land of the Philistines, that Saul may despair of me, and cease to seek me in all the coasts of Israel? I will flee then out of his hands.
1大衛 心裏說：「必有一日我死在 掃羅 手裏，不如逃奔 非利士 地去。 掃羅 見我不在 以色列 的境內，就必絕望，不再尋索我；這樣我可以脫離他的手。」
2And David arose and went away, both he and the six hundred men that were with him, to Achis the son of Maoch, king of Geth.
2於是 大衛 起身，和跟隨他的六百人投奔 迦特 王－ 瑪俄 的兒子 亞吉 去了。
3And David dwelt with Achis at Geth, he and his men: every man with his household, and David with his two wives, Achinoam the Jezrahelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal of Carmel.
3大衛 和他的兩個妻，就是 耶斯列 人 亞希暖 和作過 拿八 妻的 迦密 人 亞比該 ，並跟隨他的人，連各人的眷屬，都住在 迦特 的 亞吉 那裏。
4And it was told Saul that David was fled to Geth, and he sought no more after him.

5And David said to Achis: If I have found favour in thy sight, let a place be given me in one of the cities of this country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
5大衛 對 亞吉 說：「我若在你眼前蒙恩，求你在京外的城邑中賜我一個地方居住。僕人何必與王同住京都呢？」
6Then Achis gave him Siceleg that day: for which reason Siceleg belongeth to the kings of Juda unto this day.

7And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines, was four months.
7大衛 在 非利士 地住了一年零四個月。
8And David and his men went up, and pillaged Gessuri, and Gerzi, and the Amalecites: for these were of old the inhabitants of the countries, as men go to Sur, even to the land of Egypt.
8大衛 和跟隨他的人上去，侵奪 基述 人、 基色 人、 亞瑪力 人之地。這幾族歷來住在那地，從 書珥 直到 埃及 。
9And David wasted all the land, and left neither man nor woman alive: and took away the sheep and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned and came to Achis.
9大衛 擊殺那地的人，無論男女都沒有留下一個，又奪獲牛、羊、駱駝、驢，並衣服，回來見 亞吉 。
10And Achis said to him: Whom hast thou gone against today? David answered: Against the south of Juda, and against the south of Jerameel, and against the south of Ceni.
10亞吉 說：「你們今日侵奪了甚麼地方呢？」 大衛 說：「侵奪了 猶大 的南方、 耶拉篾 的南方、 基尼 的南方。」
11And David saved neither man nor woman, neither brought he any of them to Geth, saying: Lest they should speak against us. So did David, and such was his proceeding all the days that he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.
11無論男女， 大衛 沒有留下一個帶到 迦特 來。他說：「恐怕他們將我們的事告訴人，說 大衛 住在 非利士 地的時候常常這樣行。」
12And Achis believed David, saying: He hath done much harm to his people Israel: therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
12亞吉 信了 大衛 ，心裏說：「 大衛 使本族 以色列 人憎惡他，所以他必永遠作我的僕人了。」
