1國民盡都過了 約旦河 ，耶和華就對 約書亞 說：
1And it came to pass, when all the nation were clean passed over the Jordan, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying:
2「你從民中要揀選十二個人，每支派一人，
2'Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
3吩咐他們說：『你們從這裏，從 約旦河 中、祭司腳站定的地方，取十二塊石頭帶過去，放在你們今夜要住宿的地方。』」
3and command ye them, saying: Take you hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood, twelve stones made ready, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where ye shall lodge this night.'
4於是， 約書亞 將他從 以色列 人中所預備的那十二個人，每支派一人，都召了來。
4Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man;
5對他們說：「你們下 約旦河 中，過到耶和華－你們上帝的約櫃前頭，按着 以色列 人十二支派的數目，每人取一塊石頭扛在肩上。
5and Joshua said unto them: 'Pass on before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;
6這些石頭在你們中間可以作為證據。日後，你們的子孫問你們說：『這些石頭是甚麼意思？』
6that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in time to come, saying: What mean ye by these stones?
7你們就對他們說：『這是因為 約旦河 的水在耶和華的約櫃前斷絕；約櫃過 約旦河 的時候， 約旦河 的水就斷絕了。這些石頭要作 以色列 人永遠的紀念。』」
7then ye shall say unto them: Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.'
8以色列 人就照 約書亞 所吩咐的，按着 以色列 人支派的數目，從 約旦河 中取了十二塊石頭，都遵耶和華所吩咐 約書亞 的行了。他們把石頭帶過去，到他們所住宿的地方，就放在那裏。
8And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as the LORD spoke unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9約書亞 另把十二塊石頭立在 約旦河 中，在抬約櫃的祭司腳站立的地方；直到今日，那石頭還在那裏。
9Joshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there unto this day.
10抬 約 櫃的祭司站在 約旦河 中，等到耶和華曉諭 約書亞 吩咐百姓的事辦完了，是照 摩西 所吩咐 約書亞 的一切話。 於是百姓急速過去了。
10And the priests that bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hastened and passed over.
11眾百姓盡都過了河，耶和華的 約 櫃和祭司就在百姓面前過去。
11And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed on, and the priests, before the people.
12呂便 人、 迦得 人、 瑪拿西 半支派的人都照 摩西 所吩咐他們的，帶着兵器在 以色列 人前頭過去。
12And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed on armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke unto them;
13約有四萬人都準備打仗，在耶和華面前過去，到 耶利哥 的平原，等候上陣。
13about forty thousand ready armed for war passed on in the presence of the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14當那日，耶和華使 約書亞 在 以色列 眾人眼前尊大。在他平生的日子，百姓敬畏他，像從前敬畏 摩西 一樣。
14On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15耶和華曉諭 約書亞 說：
15And the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying:
16「你吩咐抬法櫃的祭司從 約旦河 裏上來。」
16'Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.'
17約書亞 就吩咐祭司說：「你們從 約旦河 裏上來。」
17Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying: 'Come ye up out of the Jordan.'
18抬耶和華約櫃的祭司從 約旦河 裏上來，腳掌剛落旱地， 約旦河 的水就流到原處，仍舊漲過兩岸。
18And it came to pass, as the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the midst of the Jordan, as soon as the soles of the priests' feet were drawn up unto the dry ground, that the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place, and went over all its banks, as aforetime.
19正月初十日，百姓從 約旦河 裏上來，就在 吉甲 ，在 耶利哥 的東邊安營。
19And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.
20他們從 約旦河 中取來的那十二塊石頭， 約書亞 就立在 吉甲 ，
20And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21對 以色列 人說：「日後你們的子孫問他們的父親說：『這些石頭是甚麼意思？』
21And he spoke unto the children of Israel, saying: 'When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying: What mean these stones?
22你們就告訴他們說：『 以色列 人曾走乾地過這 約旦河 ；
22then ye shall let your children know, saying: Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23因為耶和華－你們的上帝在你們前面使 約旦河 的水乾了，等着你們過來，就如耶和華－你們的上帝從前在我們前面使 紅海 乾了，等着我們過來一樣，
23For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up from before us, until we were passed over,
24要使地上萬民都知道，耶和華的手大有能力，也要使你們永遠敬畏耶和華－你們的上帝。』」
24that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty; that ye may fear the LORD your God for ever.'
