1但那受過痛苦的必不再見幽暗。 從前上帝使 西布倫 地和 拿弗他利 地被藐視，末後卻使這沿海的路， 約旦河 外，外邦人的 加利利 地得着榮耀。
1(8-23) For is there no gloom to her that was stedfast? Now the former hath lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but the latter hath dealt a more grievous blow by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in the district of the nations.
2在黑暗中行走的百姓看見了大光； 住在死蔭之地的人有光照耀他們。
2(9-1) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3你使這國民繁多， 加增他們的喜樂； 他們在你面前歡喜， 好像收割的歡喜， 像人分擄物那樣的快樂。
3(9-2) Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast increased their joy; they joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4因為他們所負的重軛 和肩頭上的杖， 並欺壓他們人的棍， 你都已經折斷， 好像在 米甸 的日子一樣。
4(9-3) For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, Thou hast broken as in the day of Midian.
5戰士在亂殺之間所穿戴的盔甲， 並那滾在血中的衣服， 都必作為可燒的， 當作火柴。
5(9-4) For every boot stamped with fierceness, and every cloak rolled in blood, shall even be for burning, for fuel of fire.
6因有一嬰孩為我們而生； 有一子賜給我們。 政權必擔在他的肩頭上； 他名稱為「奇妙策士、全能的上帝、永在的父、和平的君」。
6(9-5) For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele-joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom;
7他的政權與平安必加增無窮。 他必在 大衛 的寶座上治理他的國， 以公平公義使國堅定穩固， 從今直到永遠。 萬軍之耶和華的熱心必成就這事。
7(9-6) That the government may be increased, and of peace there be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it through justice and through righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts doth perform this.
8主使一言入於 雅各 家 ， 落於 以色列 家 。
8(9-7) The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9這眾百姓，就是 以法蓮 和 撒馬利亞 的居民，都要知道； 他們憑驕傲自大的心說：
9(9-8) And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and in arrogancy of heart:
10磚 牆 塌了，我們卻要鑿石頭建築； 桑樹砍了，我們卻要換香柏樹。
10(9-9) 'The bricks are fallen, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but cedars will we put in their place.'
11因此，耶和華要高舉 利汛 的敵人 來攻擊 以色列 ， 並要激動 以色列 的仇敵。
11(9-10) Therefore the LORD doth set upon high the adversaries of Rezin against him, and spur his enemies;
12東有 亞蘭 人，西有 非利士 人； 他們張口要吞吃 以色列 。 雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣還未轉消； 他的手仍伸不縮。
12(9-11) The Arameans on the east, and the Philistines on the west; and they devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
13這百姓還沒有歸向擊打他們的主， 也沒有尋求萬軍之耶和華。
13(9-12) Yet the people turneth not unto Him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14因此，耶和華一日之間 必從 以色列 中剪除頭與尾， 棕枝與蘆葦－
14(9-13) Therefore the LORD doth cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day.
15長老和尊貴人就是頭， 以謊言教人的先知就是尾。
15(9-14) The elder and the man of rank, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16因為，引導這百姓的使他們走錯了路； 被引導的都必敗亡。
16(9-15) For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17所以，主必不喜悅他們的少年人， 也不憐恤他們的孤兒寡婦； 因為，各人是褻瀆的，是行惡的， 並且各人的口都說愚妄的話。 雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣還未轉消； 他的手仍伸不縮。
17(9-16) Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall He have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is ungodly and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaketh wantonness. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
18邪惡像火焚燒， 燒滅荊棘和蒺藜， 在稠密的樹林中着起來， 就成為煙柱，旋轉上騰。
18(9-17) For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns; yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in thick clouds of smoke.
19因萬軍之耶和華的烈怒，地都燒遍； 百姓成為火柴； 無人憐愛弟兄。
19(9-18) Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land burnt up; the people also are as the fuel of fire; no man spareth his brother.
20有人右邊搶奪，仍受飢餓， 左邊吞吃，仍不飽足； 各人吃自己膀臂上的肉。
20(9-19) And one snatcheth on the right hand, and is hungry; and he eateth on the left hand, and is not satisfied; they eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21瑪拿西 吞吃 以法蓮 ； 以法蓮 吞吃 瑪拿西 ， 又一同攻擊 猶大 。 雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣還未轉消； 他的手仍伸不縮。
21(9-20) Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together are against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
