1لیکن برای او که در تنگی می‌بود، تاریکی نخواهد شد. در زمان پیشین زمین زبولون وزمین نفتالی را ذلیل ساخت، اما در زمان آخر آن را به راه دریا به آن طرف اردن در جلیل امت هامحترم خواهد گردانید.
1(8-23) For is there no gloom to her that was stedfast? Now the former hath lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but the latter hath dealt a more grievous blow by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in the district of the nations.
2قومی که در تاریکی سالک می‌بودند، نور عظیمی خواهند دید و بر ساکنان زمین سایه موت نور ساطع خواهد شد.
2(9-1) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3تو قوم را بسیار ساخته، شادی ایشان را زیادگردانیدی. به حضور تو شادی خواهند کرد مثل شادمانی وقت درو و مانند کسانی که در تقسیم نمودن غنیمت وجد می‌نمایند.
3(9-2) Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast increased their joy; they joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4زیرا که یوغ باراو را و عصای گردنش یعنی عصای جفا کننده وی را شکستی چنانکه در روز مدیان کردی.
4(9-3) For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, Thou hast broken as in the day of Midian.
5زیرا همه اسلحه مسلحان در غوغا است ورخوت ایشان به خون آغشته است اما برای سوختن و هیزم آتش خواهند بود.
5(9-4) For every boot stamped with fierceness, and every cloak rolled in blood, shall even be for burning, for fuel of fire.
6زیرا که برای ما ولدی زاییده و پسری به ما بخشیده شد وسلطنت بر دوش او خواهد بود و اسم او عجیب ومشیر و خدای قدیر و پدر سرمدی و سرورسلامتی خوانده خواهد شد.
6(9-5) For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele-joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom;
7ترقی سلطنت وسلامتی او را بر کرسی داود و بر مملکت وی انتهانخواهد بود تا آن را به انصاف و عدالت از الان تاابدالاباد ثابت و استوار نماید. غیرت یهوه صبایوت این را بجا خواهد آورد.
7(9-6) That the government may be increased, and of peace there be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it through justice and through righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts doth perform this.
8خداوند کلامی نزد یعقوب فرستاد و آن براسرائیل واقع گردید.
8(9-7) The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9و تمامی قوم خواهنددانست یعنی افرایم و ساکنان سامره که از غرور وتکبر دل خود می‌گویند.
9(9-8) And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and in arrogancy of heart:
10خشتها افتاده است امابا سنگهای تراشیده بنا خواهیم نمود؛ چوبهای افراغ در هم شکست اما سرو آزاد بجای آنهامی گذاریم.
10(9-9) 'The bricks are fallen, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but cedars will we put in their place.'
11بنابراین خداوند دشمنان رصین رابضد او خواهد برافراشت و خصمان او را خواهدبرانگیخت.
11(9-10) Therefore the LORD doth set upon high the adversaries of Rezin against him, and spur his enemies;
12ارامیان را از مشرق و فلسطینیان رااز مغرب و ایشان اسرائیل را با دهان گشوده خواهند خورد. اما با این همه خشم او برگردانیده نشده و دست او هنوز دراز است.
12(9-11) The Arameans on the east, and the Philistines on the west; and they devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
13و این قوم بسوی زننده خودشان بازگشت ننموده و یهوه صبایوت را نطلبیده‌اند.
13(9-12) Yet the people turneth not unto Him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14بنابراین خداوند سر ودم و نخل و نی را از اسرائیل در یک روز خواهدبرید.
14(9-13) Therefore the LORD doth cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day.
15مرد پیر و مرد شریف سر است و نبی‌ای که تعلیم دروغ می‌دهد، دم می‌باشد.
15(9-14) The elder and the man of rank, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16زیرا که هادیان این قوم ایشان را گمراه می‌کنند و پیروان ایشان بلعیده می‌شوند.
16(9-15) For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17از این سبب خداوند از جوانان ایشان مسرور نخواهد شد و بر یتیمان و بیوه‌زنان ایشان ترحم نخواهد نمود. چونکه جمیع ایشان منافق وشریرند و هر دهانی به حماقت متکلم می‌شود بااینهمه غضب او برگردانیده نشده و دست او هنوزدراز است.
17(9-16) Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall He have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is ungodly and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaketh wantonness. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
18زیرا که شرارت مثل آتش می‌سوزاند و خار و خس را می‌خورد، و دربوته های جنگل افروخته شده، دود غلیظ پیچان می‌شود.
18(9-17) For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns; yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in thick clouds of smoke.
19از غضب یهوه صبایوت زمین سوخته شده است و قوم هیزم آتش گشته‌اند و کسی بربرادر خود شفقت ندارد.
19(9-18) Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land burnt up; the people also are as the fuel of fire; no man spareth his brother.
20از جانب راست می‌ربایند و گرسنه می‌مانند و از طرف چپ می‌خورند و سیر نمی شوند و هرکس گوشت بازوی خود را می‌خورد.
20(9-19) And one snatcheth on the right hand, and is hungry; and he eateth on the left hand, and is not satisfied; they eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21منسی افرایم را وافرایم منسی را و هر دوی ایشان بضد یهودا متحدمی شوند. با اینهمه غضب او برگردانیده نشده ودست او هنوز دراز است.
21(9-20) Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together are against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
