1大卫 到了 挪伯 祭司 亚希米勒 那里， 亚希米勒 战战兢兢地出来迎接他，问他说：「你为什么独自来，没有人跟随呢？」
1(21-2) Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest; and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him: 'Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?'
2大卫 回答祭司 亚希米勒 说：「王吩咐我一件事说：『我差遣你委托你的这件事，不要使人知道。』故此我已派定少年人在某处等候我。
2(21-3) And David said unto Ahimelech the priest: 'The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me: Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee; and the young men have I appointed to such and such a place.
3现在你手下有什么？求你给我五个饼或是别样的食物。」
3(21-4) Now therefore what is under thy hand? five loaves of bread? give them in my hand, or whatsoever there is present.'
4祭司对 大卫 说：「我手下没有寻常的饼，只有圣饼；若少年人没有亲近妇人才可以给。」
4(21-5) And the priest answered David, and said: 'There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.'
5大卫 对祭司说：「实在约有三日我们没有亲近妇人；我出来的时候，虽是寻常行路，少年人的器皿还是洁净的；何况今日不更是洁净吗？」
5(21-6) And David answered the priest, and said unto him: 'Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to-day, when there shall be holy bread in their vessels?'
6祭司就拿圣 饼 给他；因为在那里没有别样饼，只有更换新饼，从耶和华面前撤下来的陈设饼。 （
6(21-7) So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. —
7当日有 扫罗 的一个臣子留在耶和华面前。他名叫 多益 ，是 以东 人，作 扫罗 的司牧长。）
7(21-8) Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. —
8大卫 问 亚希米勒 说：「你手下有枪有刀没有？因为王的事甚急，连刀剑器械我都没有带。」
8(21-9) And David said unto Ahimelech: 'And is there peradventure here under thy hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.'
9祭司说：「你在 以拉谷 杀 非利士 人 歌利亚 的那刀在这里，裹在布中，放在以弗得后边，你要就可以拿去；除此以外，再没有别的。」 大卫 说：「这刀没有可比的！求你给我。」
9(21-10) And the priest said: 'The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if thou wilt take that, take it; for there is no other save that here.' And David said: 'There is none like that; give it me.'
10那日 大卫 起来，躲避 扫罗 ，逃到 迦特 王 亚吉 那里。
10(21-11) And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11亚吉 的臣仆对 亚吉 说：「这不是 以色列 国王 大卫 吗？那里的妇女跳舞唱和，不是指着他说『 扫罗 杀死千千， 大卫 杀死万万』吗？」
11(21-12) And the servants of Achish said unto him: 'Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying: Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?'
12大卫 将这话放在心里，甚惧怕 迦特 王 亚吉 ，
12(21-13) And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13就在众人面前改变了寻常的举动，在他们手下假装疯癫，在城门的门扇上胡写乱画，使唾沫流在胡子上。
13(21-14) And he changed his demeanour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
14亚吉 对臣仆说：「你们看，这人是疯子。为什么带他到我这里来呢？
14(21-15) Then said Achish unto his servants: 'Lo, when ye see a man that is mad, wherefore do ye bring him to me?
15我岂缺少疯子，你们带这人来在我面前疯癫吗？这人岂可进我的家呢？」
15(21-16) Do I lack madmen, that ye have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?'
