1大卫 心里说：「必有一日我死在 扫罗 手里，不如逃奔 非利士 地去。 扫罗 见我不在 以色列 的境内，就必绝望，不再寻索我；这样我可以脱离他的手。」
1And David said in his heart: 'I shall now be swept away one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel; so shall I escape out of his hand.'
2于是 大卫 起身，和跟随他的六百人投奔 迦特 王— 玛俄 的儿子 亚吉 去了。
2And David arose, and passed over, he and the six hundred men that were with him, unto Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3大卫 和他的两个妻，就是 耶斯列 人 亚希暖 和作过 拿八 妻的 迦密 人 亚比该 ，并跟随他的人，连各人的眷属，都住在 迦特 的 亚吉 那里。
3And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.
4有人告诉 扫罗 说：「 大卫 逃到 迦特 。」 扫罗 就不再寻索他了。
4And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath; and he sought no more again for him.
5大卫 对 亚吉 说：「我若在你眼前蒙恩，求你在京外的城邑中赐我一个地方居住。仆人何必与王同住京都呢？」
5And David said unto Achish: 'If now I have found favour in thine eyes, let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, that I may dwell there; for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?'
6当日 亚吉 将 洗革拉 赐给他，因此 洗革拉 属 犹大 王，直到今日。
6Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day; wherefore Ziklag belongeth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
7大卫 在 非利士 地住了一年零四个月。
7And the number of the days that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
8大卫 和跟随他的人上去，侵夺 基述 人、 基色 人、 亚玛力 人之地。这几族历来住在那地，从 书珥 直到 埃及 。
8And David and his men went up, and made a raid upon the Geshurites, and the Gizrites, and the Amalekites; for those were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
9大卫 击杀那地的人，无论男女都没有留下一个，又夺获牛、羊、骆驼、驴，并衣服，回来见 亚吉 。
9And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel. And he returned, and came to Achish.
10亚吉 说：「你们今日侵夺了什么地方呢？」 大卫 说：「侵夺了 犹大 的南方、 耶拉篾 的南方、 基尼 的南方。」
10And Achish said: 'Whither have ye made a raid to-day?' And David said: 'Against the South of Judah, and against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.'
11无论男女， 大卫 没有留下一个带到 迦特 来。他说：「恐怕他们将我们的事告诉人，说 大卫 住在 非利士 地的时候常常这样行。」
11And David left neither man nor woman alive, to bring them to Gath, saying: 'Lest they should tell on us, saying: So did David, and so hath been his manner all the while he hath dwelt in the country of the Philistines.'
12亚吉 信了 大卫 ，心里说：「 大卫 使本族 以色列 人憎恶他，所以他必永远作我的仆人了。」
12And Achish believed David, saying: 'He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.'
