1And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
1ทูตของพระยาห์เวห์ขึ้นจากกิลกาลไปยังโบคิม เขากล่าวว่า “เรานำพวกเจ้าออกจากอียิปต์และพามายังแผ่นดินที่เราสาบานว่าจะมอบให้บรรพบุรุษของพวกเจ้า เรากล่าวไว้ว่า ‘เราจะไม่มีวันละเมิดพันธสัญญาที่ทำกับพวกเจ้า
2And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?
2พวกเจ้าต้องไม่ทำพันธสัญญากับชาวแผ่นดินนี้ และต้องรื้อแท่นบูชาของพวกเขา’ แต่พวกเจ้าไม่ฟังเสียงของเรา ทำไมจึงทำเช่นนี้?
3Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
3เพราะฉะนั้นเราจึงกล่าวว่า ‘เราจะไม่ขับไล่พวกเขาออกไปให้พ้นจากพวกเจ้า พวกเขาจะเป็นเสี้ยนหนามข้างกาย และเทพเจ้าของพวกเขาจะเป็นบ่วงดักพวกเจ้า’”
4And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
4เมื่อทูตของพระยาห์เวห์กล่าวถ้อยคำเหล่านี้แก่ชาวอิสราเอลทั้งหมด ประชาชนก็ส่งเสียงร้องไห้
5And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD .
5พวกเขาตั้งชื่อสถานที่นั้นว่าโบคิม และถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์ที่นั่น
6¶ And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
6เมื่อโยชูวาให้ประชาชนแยกย้ายกันไป ชาวอิสราเอลแต่ละคนก็ไปยังมรดกของตนเพื่อเข้าครอบครองแผ่นดิน
7And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD , that he did for Israel.
7ประชาชนรับใช้พระยาห์เวห์ตลอดชีวิตของโยชูวาและตลอดชีวิตของบรรดาผู้อาวุโสที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่หลังโยชูวา คนเหล่านี้ได้เห็นกิจการอันยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งหมดที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำเพื่ออิสราเอล
8And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD , died, being an hundred and ten years old.
8โยชูวาบุตรนูน ผู้รับใช้ของพระยาห์เวห์ เสียชีวิตเมื่ออายุหนึ่งร้อยสิบปี
9And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
9พวกเขาฝังศพเขาไว้ในเขตมรดกของเขาที่ทิมนาทเฮเรส บนแถบภูเขาเอฟราอิม ทางเหนือของภูเขากาอัช
10And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD , nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
10เมื่อคนรุ่นนั้นทั้งหมดไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษแล้ว คนอีกรุ่นหนึ่งก็เกิดขึ้นภายหลัง พวกเขาไม่รู้จักพระยาห์เวห์และไม่รู้ถึงสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงทำเพื่ออิสราเอล
11¶ And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD , and served Baalim:
11ชาวอิสราเอลทำสิ่งชั่วร้ายในสายพระเนตรของพระยาห์เวห์และปรนนิบัติบรรดาพระบาอัล
12And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
12พวกเขาละทิ้งพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษ ผู้ทรงนำพวกเขาออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ แล้วหันไปนับถือเทพเจ้าอื่นของชนชาติต่างๆ ที่อยู่รอบข้าง กราบไหว้เทพเจ้าเหล่านั้น และยั่วยุให้พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้ว
13And they forsook the LORD , and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
13พวกเขาละทิ้งพระยาห์เวห์ แล้วปรนนิบัติพระบาอัลและบรรดาพระอัชทาโรท
14¶ And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
14พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้วอิสราเอล พระองค์ทรงมอบพวกเขาให้อยู่ในอำนาจของผู้ปล้นที่เข้าปล้นสะดม และทรงปล่อยให้พวกเขาตกอยู่ใต้อำนาจของศัตรูรอบด้าน จนพวกเขาไม่อาจต้านทานศัตรูได้อีก
15Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
15ทุกครั้งที่พวกเขาออกไปรบ พระยาห์เวห์ทรงต่อต้านและทำให้พวกเขาประสบภัย ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสและทรงสาบานไว้ พวกเขาจึงทุกข์ยากอย่างยิ่ง
16¶ Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
16พระยาห์เวห์ทรงตั้งผู้วินิจฉัยขึ้นมาช่วยพวกเขาให้พ้นจากอำนาจของผู้ปล้น
17And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD ; but they did not so.
17แต่พวกเขาไม่ฟังผู้วินิจฉัย กลับนอกใจไปหาเทพเจ้าอื่นและกราบไหว้เทพเจ้าเหล่านั้น พวกเขารีบหันออกจากหนทางที่บรรพบุรุษเคยดำเนิน คือการเชื่อฟังพระบัญญัติของพระยาห์เวห์ และไม่ทำตามแบบอย่างนั้น
18And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
18เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์ทรงตั้งผู้วินิจฉัยขึ้น พระองค์สถิตกับผู้วินิจฉัยคนนั้นและช่วยพวกเขาให้พ้นจากอำนาจศัตรูตลอดชีวิตของเขา เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ทรงสงสารเมื่อได้ยินพวกเขาคร่ำครวญเนื่องจากถูกกดขี่ข่มเหง
19And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
19แต่เมื่อผู้วินิจฉัยเสียชีวิต พวกเขาก็กลับไปประพฤติเสื่อมทรามยิ่งกว่าบรรพบุรุษ นับถือเทพเจ้าอื่น ปรนนิบัติและกราบไหว้เทพเจ้าเหล่านั้น พวกเขาไม่เลิกการกระทำหรือวิถีอันดื้อรั้นของตน
20¶ And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;
20พระยาห์เวห์ทรงกริ้วอิสราเอลและตรัสว่า “เพราะชนชาตินี้ละเมิดพันธสัญญาที่เราบัญชาแก่บรรพบุรุษของพวกเขา และไม่ฟังเสียงของเรา
21I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
21เราจะไม่ขับไล่ชนชาติใดๆ ที่โยชูวาทิ้งไว้เมื่อเขาเสียชีวิตให้ออกไปพ้นจากพวกเขาอีกต่อไป
22That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it , or not.
22เราจะใช้ชนชาติเหล่านั้นทดสอบอิสราเอลว่าจะรักษาหนทางของพระยาห์เวห์และดำเนินตามเหมือนบรรพบุรุษหรือไม่”
23Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
23ดังนั้นพระยาห์เวห์จึงทรงปล่อยชนชาติเหล่านั้นไว้ ไม่ได้รีบขับไล่ และไม่ได้มอบพวกเขาให้อยู่ในอำนาจของโยชูวา
