Tongan Bible, Revised West Version
1(51-1) For the Leader. A Psalm of David; (51-2) When Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. (51-3) Be gracious unto me, O God, according to Thy mercy; according to the multitude of Thy compassions blot out my transgressions.
2(51-4) Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
2Ke ke fufulu ʻaupito au mei heʻeku hia, mo fakamaʻa au mei heʻeku angahala:
3(51-5) For I know my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me.
3He ʻoku ou fakamoʻoni ʻeku ngaahi talangataʻa: pea ʻoku tuʻumaʻu aipē ʻi hoku ʻao ʻeku angahala.
4(51-6) Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in Thy sight; that Thou mayest be justified when Thou speakest, and be in the right when Thou judgest.
4Naʻaku fai angahala kiate koe, ʻio, kiate koe pē kuo u fai ʻae kovi ni ʻi ho ʻao; koeʻuhi ke tonuhia pe ʻa koe ʻoka ke ka folofola, pea māʻoniʻoni ʻoka ke ka fai ʻae fakamaau.
5(51-7) Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
5Vakai, naʻe fanauʻi au ʻi he angakovi pea naʻe tuʻituʻia ʻeku faʻē ʻiate au ko e angahala.
6(51-8) Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; make me, therefore, to know wisdom in mine inmost heart.
6Vakai, ʻoku ke finangalo ki he moʻoni ʻi loto: pea ʻi he fufū te ke ngaohi ai au ke u ʻilo ʻae poto.
7(51-9) Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
7Ke ke fakamaʻa au ʻaki ʻae ʻisope, pea te u maʻa ai: fufulu au, pea te u hinehina lahi ʻi he ʻuha hinehina.
8(51-10) Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which Thou hast crushed may rejoice.
8Tuku ke u fanongo ki he fiefia mo e nekeneka; ke fiemālie ai ʻae ngaahi hui kuo ke fesiʻi.
9(51-11) Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
9Ke ke fufū ho fofonga mei heʻeku angahala, mo ke tāmateʻi ʻeku ngaahi hia kotoa pē.
10(51-12) Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a stedfast spirit within me.
10ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke fakatupu ʻiate au ʻae loto maʻa; mo ke fakafoʻou ʻiate au ha laumālie tuʻumaʻu.
11(51-13) Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy holy spirit from me.
11ʻOua naʻa ke liʻaki au mei ho ʻao pea ʻoua naʻa ke toʻo ʻiate au ho laumālie māʻoniʻoni.
12(51-14) Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and let a willing spirit uphold me.
12Toe ʻomi kiate au ʻae fiefia ʻo hoʻo fakamoʻui; mo ke poupou ʻaki au ho laumālie tauʻatāina.
13(51-15) Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall return unto Thee.
13Pea te u akonaki ʻaki ʻae kau talangataʻa ʻa ho ngaahi hala; pea ʻe liliu kiate koe ʻae kau angahala.
14(51-16) Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation; so shall my tongue sing aloud of Thy righteousness.
14ʻE ʻOtua, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku moʻui, ke ke fakamoʻui au mei he hia ʻoe toto: pea ʻe hiva kalanga ʻa hoku ʻelelo ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni.
15(51-17) O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall declare Thy praise.
15ʻE ʻEiki ke ke faʻai hoku loungutu, pea ʻe fakahā atu ʻe hoku ngutu ʻa hoʻo fakamālō.
16(51-18) For Thou delightest not in sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.
16He ʻoku ʻikai te ke finangalo ki he feilaulau, koeʻuhi ke u ʻatu ia: ʻoku ʻikai te ke fiemālie ʻi he feilaulau tutu.
17(51-19) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
17Ko e ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe ʻOtua ko e laumālie mafesi: ko e loto mafesi mo māfofoa, ʻE ʻOtua, ʻe ʻikai te ke manukiʻi.
18(51-20) Do good in Thy favour unto Zion; build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.
18Fai lelei ʻi ho finangalo lelei ki Saione: ke ke fokotuʻu hake ʻae ngaahi ʻā ʻo Selūsalema.
19(51-21) Then wilt Thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt-offering and whole offering; then will they offer bullocks upon Thine altar.
19Pea te ke fiemālie ʻi he ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe māʻoniʻoni, mo e feilaulau tutu, mo e ngaahi feilaulau tutu kotoa: pea te nau toki ʻatu ʻae fanga pulu ki hoʻo feilaulauʻanga.
