1Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle; and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle,
1吕便 子孙和 迦得 子孙的牲畜极其众多；他们看见 雅谢 地和 基列 地是可牧放牲畜之地，
2the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying:
2就来见 摩西 和祭司 以利亚撒 ，并会众的首领，说：
3'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
3「 亚大录 、 底本 、 雅谢 、 宁拉 、 希实本 、 以利亚利 、 示班 、 尼波 、 比稳 ，
4the land which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle.'
4就是耶和华在 以色列 会众前面所攻取之地，是可牧放牲畜之地，你仆人也有牲畜」；
5And they said: 'If we have found favour in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession; bring us not over the Jordan.'
5又说：「我们若在你眼前蒙恩，求你把这地给我们为业，不要领我们过 约旦河 。」
6And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: 'Shall your brethren go to the war, and shall ye sit here?
6摩西 对 迦得 子孙和 吕便 子孙说：「难道你们的弟兄去打仗，你们竟坐在这里吗？
7And wherefore will ye turn away the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?
7你们为何使 以色列 人灰心丧胆、不过去进入耶和华所赐给他们的那地呢？
8Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
8我先前从 加低斯·巴尼亚 打发你们先祖去窥探那地，他们也是这样行。
9For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they turned away the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.
9他们上 以实各谷 ，去窥探那地回来的时候，使 以色列 人灰心丧胆，不进入耶和华所赐给他们的地。
10And the LORD'S anger was kindled in that day, and He swore, saying:
10当日，耶和华的怒气发作，就起誓说：
11Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed Me;
11『凡从 埃及 上来、二十岁以外的人断不得看见我对 亚伯拉罕 、 以撒 、 雅各 起誓应许之地，因为他们没有专心跟从我。
12save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have wholly followed the LORD.
12惟有 基尼洗 族 耶孚尼 的儿子 迦勒 和 嫩 的儿子 约书亚 可以看见，因为他们专心跟从我。』
13And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.
13耶和华的怒气向 以色列 人发作，使他们在旷野飘流四十年，等到在耶和华眼前行恶的那一代人都消灭了。
14And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, a brood of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.
14谁知，你们起来接续先祖，增添罪人的数目，使耶和华向 以色列 大发烈怒。
15For if ye turn away from after Him, He will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and so ye will destroy all this people.'
15你们若退后不跟从他，他还要把 以色列 人撇在旷野，便是你们使这众民灭亡。」
16And they came near unto him, and said: 'We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones;
16两支派的人挨近 摩西 ，说：「我们要在这里为牲畜垒圈，为 妇人 孩子造城。
17but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
17我们自己要带兵器行在 以色列 人的前头，好把他们领到他们的地方；但我们的 妇人 孩子，因这地居民的缘故，要住在坚固的城内。
18We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
18我们不回家，直等到 以色列 人各承受自己的产业。
19For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.'
19我们不和他们在 约旦河 那边一带之地同受产业，因为我们的产业是坐落在 约旦河 东边这里。」
20And Moses said unto them: 'If ye will do this thing: if ye will arm yourselves to go before the LORD to the war,
20摩西 对他们说：「你们若这样行，在耶和华面前带着兵器出去打仗，
21and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before the LORD, until He hath driven out His enemies from before Him,
21所有带兵器的人都要在耶和华面前过 约旦河 ，等他赶出他的仇敌，
22and the land be subdued before the LORD, and ye return afterward; then ye shall be clear before the LORD, and before Israel, and this land shall be unto you for a possession before the LORD.
22那地被耶和华制伏了，然后你们可以回来，向耶和华和 以色列 才为无罪，这地也必在耶和华面前归你们为业。
23But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD; and know ye your sin which will find you.
23倘若你们不这样行，就得罪耶和华，要知道你们的罪必追上你们。
24Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.'
24如今你们口中所出的，只管去行，为你们的 妇人 孩子造城，为你们的羊群垒圈。」
25And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke unto Moses, saying: 'Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth.
25迦得 子孙和 吕便 子孙对 摩西 说：「仆人要照我主所吩咐的去行。
26Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;
26我们的妻子、孩子、羊群，和所有的牲畜都要留在 基列 的各城。
27but thy servants will pass over, every man that is armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.'
27但你的仆人，凡带兵器的，都要照我主所说的话，在耶和华面前过去打仗。」
28So Moses gave charge concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel.
28于是， 摩西 为他们嘱咐祭司 以利亚撒 和 嫩 的儿子 约书亚 ，并 以色列 众支派的族长，说：
29And Moses said unto them: 'If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man that is armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;
29「 迦得 子孙和 吕便 子孙，凡带兵器在耶和华面前去打仗的，若与你们一同过 约旦河 ，那地被你们制伏了，你们就要把 基列 地给他们为业。
30but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.'
30倘若他们不带兵器和你们一同过去，就要在 迦南 地你们中间得产业。」
31And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying: 'As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.
31迦得 子孙和 吕便 子孙回答说：「耶和华怎样吩咐仆人，仆人就怎样行。
32We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.'
32我们要带兵器，在耶和华面前过去，进入 迦南 地，只是 约旦河 这边、我们所得为业之地 仍归 我们。」
33And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to the cities thereof with their borders, even the cities of the land round about.
33摩西 将 亚摩利 王 西宏 的国和 巴珊 王 噩 的国，连那地和周围的城邑，都给了 迦得 子孙和 吕便 子孙，并 约瑟 的儿子 玛拿西 半个支派。
34And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer;
34迦得 子孙建造 底本 、 亚他录 、 亚罗珥 、
35and Atroth-shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah;
35亚他录·朔反 、 雅谢 、 约比哈 、
36and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran; fortified cities, and folds for sheep.
36伯·宁拉 、 伯·哈兰 ，都是坚固城。他们又垒羊圈。
37And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim;
37吕便 子孙建造 希实本 、 以利亚利 、 基列亭 、
38and Nebo, and Baal-meon — their names being changed — and Sibmah; and gave their names unto the cities which they builded.
38尼波 、 巴力·免 、 西比玛 （ 尼波 、 巴力·免 ，名字是改了的），又给他们所建造的城另起别名。
39And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.
39玛拿西 的儿子 玛吉 ，他的子孙往 基列 去，占了那地，赶出那里的 亚摩利 人。
40And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.
40摩西 将 基列 赐给 玛拿西 的儿子 玛吉 ，他 子孙 就住在那里。
41And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the villages thereof, and called them Havvoth-jair.
41玛拿西 的子孙 睚珥 去占了 基列 的村庄，就称这些村庄为 哈倭特·睚珥 。
42And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
42挪巴 去占了 基纳 和 基纳 的乡村，就按自己的名称 基纳 为 挪巴 。
