1And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
1耶和华晓谕 摩西 说：
2'Send thou men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel; of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a prince among them.'
2「你打发人去窥探我所赐给 以色列 人的 迦南 地，他们每支派中要打发一个人，都要作首领的。」
3And Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of the LORD; all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel.
3摩西 就照耶和华的吩咐从 巴兰 的旷野打发他们去；他们都是 以色列 人的族长。
4And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
4他们的名字：属 吕便 支派的有 撒刻 的儿子 沙母亚 。
5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.
5属 西缅 支派的有 何利 的儿子 沙法 。
6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
6属 犹大 支派的有 耶孚尼 的儿子 迦勒 。
7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

16These are the names of the men that Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.
16这就是 摩西 所打发、窥探那地之人的名字。 摩西 就称 嫩 的儿子 何希阿 为 约书亚 。
17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them: 'Get you up here into the South, and go up into the mountains;
17摩西 打发他们去窥探 迦南 地，说：「你们从南地上山地去，
18and see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;
18看那地如何，其中所住的民是强是弱，是多是少，
19and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;
19所住之地是好是歹，所住之处是营盘是坚城。
20and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land.' — Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes. —
20又看那地土是肥美是瘠薄，其中有树木没有。你们要放开胆量，把那地的果子带些来。」（那时正是葡萄初熟的时候。）
21So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, at the entrance to Hamath.
21他们上去窥探那地，从 寻 的旷野到 利合 ，直到 哈马口 。
22And they went up into the South, and came unto Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. — Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt. —
22他们从南地上去，到了 希伯 ；在那里有 亚衲 族人 亚希幔 、 示筛 、 挞买 。（原来 希伯 城被建造比 埃及 的 锁安 城早七年。）
23And they came unto the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it upon a pole between two; they took also of the pomegranates, and of the figs. —
23他们到了 以实各谷 ，从那里砍了葡萄树的一枝，上头有一挂葡萄，两个人用杠抬着，又 带了 些石榴和无花果来。（
24That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from thence. —
24因为 以色列 人从那里砍来的那挂葡萄，所以那地方叫做 以实各谷 。）
25And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
25过了四十天，他们窥探那地才回来，
26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
26到了 巴兰 旷野的 加低斯 ，见 摩西 、 亚伦 ，并 以色列 的全会众，回报 摩西 、 亚伦 ，并全会众，又把那地的果子给他们看；
27And they told him, and said: 'We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
27又告诉 摩西 说：「我们到了你所打发我们去的那地，果然是流奶与蜜之地；这就是那地的果子。
28Howbeit the people that dwell in the land are fierce, and the cities are fortified, and very great; and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
28然而住那地的民强壮，城邑也坚固宽大，并且我们在那里看见了 亚衲 族的人。
29Amalek dwelleth in the land of the South; and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanite dwelleth by the sea, and along by the side of the Jordan.'
29亚玛力 人住在南地； 赫 人、 耶布斯 人、 亚摩利 人住在山地； 迦南 人住在海边并 约旦河 旁。」
30And Caleb stilled the people toward Moses, and said: 'We should go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.'
30迦勒 在 摩西 面前安抚百姓，说：「我们立刻上去得那地吧！我们足能得胜。」
31But the men that went up with him said: 'We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.'
31但那些和他同去的人说：「我们不能上去攻击那民，因为他们比我们强壮。」
32And they spread an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto the children of Israel, saying: 'The land, through which we have passed to spy it out, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.
32探子 中有 人论到所窥探之地，向 以色列 人报恶信，说：「我们所窥探、经过之地是吞吃居民之地，我们在那里所看见的人民都身量高大。
33And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.'
33我们在那里看见 亚衲 族人，就是伟人；他们是伟人的后裔。据我们看，自己就如蚱蜢一样；据他们看，我们也是如此。」
