1And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and she said unto Jacob: 'Give me children, or else I die.'
1拉結 見自己不給 雅各 生子，就嫉妒她姊姊，對 雅各 說：「你給我孩子，不然我就死了。」
2And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel; and he said: 'Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?'
2雅各 向 拉結 生氣，說：「叫你不生育的是上帝，我豈能代替他 作主 呢？」
3And she said: 'Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; that she may bear upon my knees, and I also may be builded up through her.'
3拉結 說：「有我的使女 辟拉 在這裏，你可以與她同房，使她生子在我膝下，我便因她也得孩子。」
4And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife; and Jacob went in unto her.
4拉結 就把她的使女 辟拉 給丈夫為妾； 雅各 便與她同房，
5And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.
5辟拉 就懷孕，給 雅各 生了一個兒子。
6And Rachel said: 'God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son.' Therefore called she his name Dan.
6拉結 說：「上帝伸了我的冤，也聽了我的聲音，賜我一個兒子」，因此給他起名叫 但 。
7And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.
7拉結 的使女 辟拉 又懷孕，給 雅各 生了第二個兒子。
8And Rachel said: 'With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed.' And she called his name Naphtali.
8拉結 說：「我與我姊姊大大相爭，並且得勝」，於是給他起名叫 拿弗他利 。
9When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife.
9利亞 見自己停了生育，就把使女 悉帕 給 雅各 為妾。
10And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a son.
10利亞 的使女 悉帕 給 雅各 生了一個兒子。
11And Leah said: 'Fortune is come!' And she called his name Gad.
11利亞 說：「萬幸！」於是給他起名叫 迦得 。
12And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a second son.
12利亞 的使女 悉帕 又給 雅各 生了第二個兒子。
13And Leah said: 'Happy am I! for the daughters will call me happy.' And she called his name Asher.
13利亞 說：「我有福啊，眾女子都要稱我是有福的」，於是給他起名叫 亞設 。
14And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah: 'Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.'
14割麥子的時候， 呂便 往田裏去，尋見風茄，拿來給他母親 利亞 。 拉結 對 利亞 說：「請你把你兒子的風茄給我些。」
15And she said unto her: 'Is it a small matter that thou hast taken away my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also?' And Rachel said: 'Therefore he shall lie with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes.'
15利亞 說：「你奪了我的丈夫還算小事嗎？你又要奪我兒子的風茄嗎？」 拉結 說：「為你兒子的風茄，今夜他可以與你同寢。」
16And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said: 'Thou must come in unto me; for I have surely hired thee with my son's mandrakes.' And he lay with her that night.
16到了晚上， 雅各 從田裏回來， 利亞 出來迎接他，說：「你要與我同寢，因為我實在用我兒子的風茄把你雇下了。」那一夜， 雅各 就與她同寢。
17And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.
17上帝應允了 利亞 ，她就懷孕，給 雅各 生了第五個兒子。
18And Leah said: 'God hath given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And she called his name Issachar.
18利亞 說：「上帝給了我價值，因為我把使女給了我丈夫」，於是給他起名叫 以薩迦 。
19And Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.
19利亞 又懷孕，給 雅各 生了第六個兒子。
20And Leah said: 'God hath endowed me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons.' And she called his name Zebulun.
20利亞 說：「上帝賜我厚賞；我丈夫必與我同住，因我給他生了六個兒子」，於是給他起名 西布倫 。
21And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.
21後來又生了一個女兒，給她起名叫 底拿 。
22And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.
22上帝顧念 拉結 ，應允了她，使她能生育。
23And she conceived, and bore a son, and said: 'God hath taken away my reproach.'
23拉結 懷孕生子，說：「上帝除去了我的羞恥」，
24And she called his name Joseph, saying: 'The LORD add to me another son.'
24就給他起名叫 約瑟 ，意思說：「願耶和華再增添我一個兒子。」
25And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban: 'Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.
25拉結 生 約瑟 之後， 雅各 對 拉班 說：「請打發我走，叫我回到我本鄉本土去。
26Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served thee, and let me go; for thou knowest my service wherewith I have served thee.'
26請你把我服事你所得的妻子和兒女給我，讓我走；我怎樣服事你，你都知道。」
27And Laban said unto him: 'If now I have found favour in thine eyes — I have observed the signs, and the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.'
27拉班 對他說：「我若在你眼前蒙恩，請你 仍與我同住 ， 因為 我已算定，耶和華賜福與我是為你的緣故」；
28And he said: 'Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.'
28又說：「請你定你的工價，我就給你。」
29And he said unto him: 'Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle have fared with me.
29雅各 對他說：「我怎樣服事你，你的牲畜在我手裏怎樣，是你知道的。
30For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it hath increased abundantly; and the LORD hath blessed thee whithersoever I turned. And now when shall I provide for mine own house also?'
30我未來之先，你所有的很少，現今卻發大眾多，耶和華隨我的腳步賜福與你。如今，我甚麼時候才為自己興家立業呢？」
31And he said: 'What shall I give thee?' And Jacob said: 'Thou shalt not give me aught; if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed thy flock and keep it.
31拉班 說：「我當給你甚麼呢？」 雅各 說：「甚麼你也不必給我，只有一件事，你若應承，我便仍舊牧放你的羊群。
32I will pass through all thy flock to-day, removing from thence every speckled and spotted one, and every dark one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats; and of such shall be my hire.
32今天我要走遍你的羊群，把綿羊中凡有點的、有斑的，和黑色的，並山羊中凡有斑的、有點的，都挑出來；將來 這一等的 就算我的工價。
33So shall my righteousness witness against me hereafter, when thou shalt come to look over my hire that is before thee: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and dark among the sheep, that if found with me shall be counted stolen.'
33以後你來查看我的工價，凡在我手裏的山羊不是有點有斑的，綿羊不是黑色的，那就算是我偷的；這樣便可證出我的公義來。」
34And Laban said: 'Behold, would it might be according to thy word.'
34拉班 說：「好啊！我情願照着你的話行。」
35And he removed that day the he-goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the dark ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
35當日， 拉班 把有紋的、有斑的公山羊，有點的、有斑的、有雜白紋的母山羊，並黑色的綿羊，都挑出來，交在他兒子們的手下，
36And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob. And Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.
36又使自己和 雅各 相離三天的路程。 雅各 就牧養 拉班 其餘的羊。
37And Jacob took him rods of fresh poplar, and of the almond and of the plane-tree; and peeled white streaks in them, making the white appear which was in the rods.
37雅各 拿楊樹、杏樹、楓樹的嫩枝，將皮剝成白紋，使枝子露出白的來，
38And he set the rods which he had peeled over against the flocks in the gutters in the watering-troughs where the flocks came to drink; and they conceived when they came to drink.
38將剝了皮的枝子，對着羊群，插在飲羊的水溝裏和水槽裏，羊來喝的時候，牝牡配合。
39And the flocks conceived at the sight of the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.
39羊對着枝子配合，就生下有紋的、有點的、有斑的來。
40And Jacob separated the lambs — he also set the faces of the flocks toward the streaked and all the dark in the flock of Laban — and put his own droves apart, and put them not unto Laban's flock.
40雅各 把羊羔分出來，使 拉班 的羊與這有紋和黑色的羊相對，把自己的羊另放一處，不叫他和 拉班 的羊混雜。
41And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger of the flock did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods;
41到羊群肥壯配合的時候， 雅各 就把枝子插在水溝裏，使羊對着枝子配合。
42but when the flock were feeble, he put them not in; so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.
42只是到羊瘦弱配合的時候就不插枝子。這樣，瘦弱的就歸 拉班 ，肥壯的就歸 雅各 。
43And the man increased exceedingly, and had large flocks, and maid-servants and men-servants, and camels and asses.
43於是 雅各 極其發大，得了許多的羊群、僕婢、駱駝，和驢。
