1NOW THERE was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
1以法蓮 山地的 拉瑪‧瑣非 有一個 以法蓮 人，名叫 以利加拿 ，是 蘇弗 的玄孫， 託戶 的曾孫， 以利戶 的孫子， 耶羅罕 的兒子。
2And he had two wives: the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah; and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
2他有兩個妻：一名 哈拿 ，一名 毗尼拿 。 毗尼拿 有兒女， 哈拿 沒有兒女。
3And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there priests unto the LORD.
3這人每年從本城上到 示羅 ，敬拜祭祀萬軍之耶和華；在那裏有 以利 的兩個兒子 何弗尼 、 非尼哈 當耶和華的祭司。
4And it came to pass upon a day, when Elkanah sacrificed, that he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions;
4以利加拿 每逢獻祭的日子，將 祭肉 分給他的妻 毗尼拿 和 毗尼拿 所生的兒女；
5but unto Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb.
5給 哈拿 的卻是雙分，因為他愛 哈拿 。無奈耶和華不使 哈拿 生育。
6And her rival vexed her sore, to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
6毗尼拿 見耶和華不使 哈拿 生育，就作她的對頭，大大激動她，要使她生氣。
7And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she vexed her; therefore she wept, and would not eat.
7每年上到耶和華殿的時候， 以利加拿 都以雙分給 哈拿 ； 毗尼拿 仍是激動她，以致她哭泣不吃飯。
8And Elkanah her husband said unto her: 'Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?'
8她丈夫 以利加拿 對她說：「 哈拿 啊，你為何哭泣，不吃飯，心裏愁悶呢？有我不比十個兒子還好嗎？」
9So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk — now Eli the priest sat upon his seat by the door-post of the temple of the LORD;
9他們在 示羅 吃喝完了， 哈拿 就站起來。祭司 以利 在耶和華殿的門框旁邊，坐在自己的位上。
10and she was in bitterness of soul — and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
10哈拿 心裏愁苦，就痛痛哭泣，祈禱耶和華，
11And she vowed a vow, and said: 'O LORD of hosts, if Thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of Thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget Thy handmaid, but wilt give unto Thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.'
11許願說：「萬軍之耶和華啊，你若垂顧婢女的苦情，眷念不忘婢女，賜我一個兒子，我必使他終身歸與耶和華，不用剃頭刀剃他的頭。」
12And it came to pass, as she prayed long before the LORD, that Eli watched her mouth.
12哈拿 在耶和華面前不住地祈禱， 以利 定睛看她的嘴。（
13Now Hannah, she spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice could not be heard; therefore, Eli thought she had been drunken.
13原來 哈拿 心中默禱，只動嘴唇，不出聲音，因此 以利 以為她喝醉了。）
14And Eli said unto her: 'How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.'
14以利 對她說：「你要醉到幾時呢？你不應該喝酒。」
15And Hannah answered and said: 'No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit; I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD.
15哈拿 回答說：「主啊，不是這樣。我是心裏愁苦的婦人，清酒濃酒都沒有喝，但在耶和華面前傾心吐意。
16Count not thy handmaid for a wicked woman: for out of the abundance of my complaint and my vexation have I spoken hitherto.'
16不要將婢女看作不正經的女子。我因被人激動，愁苦太多，所以祈求到如今。」
17Then Eli answered and said: 'Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of Him.'
17以利 說：「你可以平平安安地回去。願 以色列 的上帝允准你向他所求的！」
18And she said: 'Let thy servant find favour in thy sight.' So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
18哈拿 說：「願婢女在你眼前蒙恩。」於是婦人走去吃飯，面上再不帶愁容了。
19And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah; and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
19次日清早，他們起來，在耶和華面前敬拜，就回 拉瑪 。到了家裏， 以利加拿 和妻 哈拿 同房，耶和華顧念 哈拿 ，
20And it came to pass, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she called his name Samuel: 'because I have asked him of the LORD.'
20哈拿 就懷孕。日期滿足，生了一個兒子，給他起名叫 撒母耳 ， 說 ：「這是我從耶和華那裏求來的。」
21And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
21以利加拿 和他全家都上 示羅 去，要向耶和華獻年祭，並還所許的願。
22But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband: 'Until the child be weaned, when I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.'
22哈拿 卻沒有上去，對丈夫說：「等孩子斷了奶，我便帶他上去朝見耶和華，使他永遠住在那裏。」
23And Elkanah her husband said unto her: 'Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish His word.' So the woman tarried and gave her son suck, until she weaned him.
23她丈夫 以利加拿 說：「就隨你的意行吧！可以等兒子斷了奶。但願耶和華應驗他的話。」於是婦人在家裏乳養兒子，直到斷了奶；
24And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh; and the child was young.
24既斷了奶，就把孩子帶上 示羅 ，到了耶和華的殿；又帶了三隻公牛，一伊法細麵，一皮袋酒。（那時，孩子還小。）
25And when the bullock was slain, the child was brought to Eli.
25宰了一隻公牛，就領孩子到 以利 面前。
26And she said: 'Oh, my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.
26婦人說：「主啊，我敢在你面前起誓，從前在你這裏站着祈求耶和華的那婦人，就是我。
27For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath granted me my petition which I asked of Him;
27我祈求為要得這孩子；耶和華已將我所求的賜給我了。
28therefore I also have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he is lent to the LORD.' And he worshipped the LORD there.
28所以，我將這孩子歸與耶和華，使他終身歸與耶和華。」 於是在那裏敬拜耶和華。
