1And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom back to Rehoboam.
1羅波安 來到 耶路撒冷 ，招聚 猶大 家和 便雅憫 家，共十八萬人，都是挑選的戰士，要與 以色列 人爭戰，好將國奪回再歸自己。
2But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying:
2但耶和華的話臨到神人 示瑪雅 說：
3'Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying:
3「你去告訴 所羅門 的兒子 猶大 王 羅波安 和住 猶大 、 便雅憫 的 以色列 眾人說，
4Thus saith the LORD: Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren; return every man to his house, for this thing is of Me.' So they hearkened unto the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
4耶和華如此說：『你們不可上去與你們的弟兄爭戰，各歸各家去吧！因為這事出於我。』」眾人就聽從耶和華的話歸回，不去與 耶羅波安 爭戰。
5And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
5羅波安 住在 耶路撒冷 ，在 猶大 地修築城邑，
6He built even Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
6為保障修築 伯利恆 、 以坦 、 提哥亞 、
7and Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
7伯‧夙 、 梭哥 、 亞杜蘭 、
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
8迦特 、 瑪利沙 、 西弗 、
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
9亞多萊音 、 拉吉 、 亞西加 、
10and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
10瑣拉 、 亞雅崙 、 希伯崙 。這都是 猶大 和 便雅憫 的堅固城。
11And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and oil and wine.
11羅波安 又堅固各處的保障，在其中安置軍長，又預備下糧食、油、酒。
12And in every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. And Judah and Benjamin adhered to him.
12他在各城裏 預備 盾牌和槍，且使城極其堅固。 猶大 和 便雅憫 都歸了他。
13And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel presented themselves to him out of all their border.
13以色列 全地的祭司和 利未 人都從四方來歸 羅波安 。
14For the Levites left their open land and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office unto the LORD;
14利未 人撇下他們的郊野和產業，來到 猶大 與 耶路撒冷 ，是因 耶羅波安 和他的兒子拒絕他們，不許他們供祭司職分事奉耶和華。
15and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the satyrs, and for the calves which he had made.
15耶羅波安 為邱壇、為鬼魔、為自己所鑄造的牛犢設立祭司。
16And after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek the LORD, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD, the God of their fathers.
16以色列 各支派中，凡立定心意尋求耶和華－ 以色列 上帝的，都隨從 利未 人，來到 耶路撒冷 祭祀耶和華－他們列祖的上帝。
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
17這樣，就堅固 猶大 國，使 所羅門 的兒子 羅波安 強盛三年，因為他們三年遵行 大衛 和 所羅門 的道。
18And Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
18羅波安 娶 大衛 兒子 耶利摩 的女兒 瑪哈拉 為妻，又娶 耶西 兒子 以利押 的女兒 亞比孩 為妻。
19and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
19從她生了幾個兒子，就是 耶烏施 、 示瑪利雅 、 撒罕 。
20And after her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
20後來又娶 押沙龍 的女兒 瑪迦 ，從她生了 亞比雅 、 亞太 、 細撒 、 示羅密 。
21And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines — for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines, and begot twenty and eight sons and threescore daughters.
21羅波安 娶十八個妻，立六十個妾，生二十八個兒子，六十個女兒；他卻愛 押沙龍 的女兒 瑪迦 ，比愛別的妻妾更甚。
22And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brethren; for he was minded to make him king.
22羅波安 立 瑪迦 的兒子 亞比雅 作太子，在他弟兄中為首，因為 想要 立他接續作王。
23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fortified city; and he gave them victual in abundance. And he sought for them many wives.
23羅波安 辦事精明，使他眾子分散在 猶大 和 便雅憫 全地各堅固城裏，又賜他們許多糧食， 為他們 多尋妻子。
