Baibal Olcim (Matupi Chin)
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1Misurtui tah hmuiyoi la om tih yu long khaw hue a sak. Te dongah anih loh a palang sak hlang boeih tah cueih voel pawh.
1Wine is a luxurious thing, and drunkenness riotous: whosoever is delighted therewith shell not be wise.
2Manghai kah a mueirhih tah sathueng kah a kawk bangla om tih, anih aka paan ngawn tah a hinglu ni a phai coeng.
2As the roaring of a lion, so also is the dread of a king: he that provoketh him, sinneth against his own soul.
3Tuituknah lamloh aka hoep uh hlang ham thangpomnah la om tih, aka ang boeih long tah tohhaemnah a puek sak.
3It is an honour for a man to separate himself from quarrels: but all fools are meddling with reproaches.
4Kolhnaw loh sikca ah pataeng caai voel pawh. Te dongah cangah ah a dawt tah a dawt dae dang voel pawh.
4Because of the cold the sluggard would not plough: he shall beg therefore in the summer, and it shall not be given him.
5Hlang lungbuei kah cilsuep tah tui aka dung bangla om tih, hlang lungcuei loh a dueh.
5Counsel in the heart of a man is like deep water: but a wise man will draw it out.
6Hlang pilnu amah kah sitlohnah te boeih a doek dae, oltak hlang te u long a hmuh?
6Many men are called merciful: but who shall find a faithful man?
7A thincaknah neh aka cet hlang dueng tah amah hnukah a ca rhoek khaw a yoethen.
7The just that walketh in his simplicity, shall leave behind him blessed children.
8Manghai tah laitloeknah ngolkhoel dongah ngol tih, boethae boeih te a mik neh a thaek.
8The king, that sitteth on the throne of judgment, scattereth away all evil with his look.
9“Ka lungbuei ka saelh tih ka tholh lamloh ka caihcil,” tila ulong a ti thai.
9Who can say: My heart is clean, I am pure from sin?
10Lungto neh lungto khaw, cangnoek neh cangnoek khaw BOEIPA ham a boktlap la tueilaehkoi ni.
10Diverse weights and diverse measures, both are abominable before God.
11A khoboe dongah camoe pataeng khaw loha coeng. A bisai loh cil tih a thuem atah.
11By his inclinations a child is known, if his works be clean and right.
12Hna loh yaak tih mik loh a hmuh he khaw a boktlap la BOEIPA long ni a saii.
12The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made them both.
13Ih he lungnah boeh na khodaeng na pang ve. Na mik a tueng daengah ni buh na cung eh.
13Love not sleep, lest poverty oppress thee: open thy eyes, and be filled with bread.
14Hno aka lai loh a thae, a thae la a thui tih amah a khawk vaengah tah lat thangthen bal.
14It is nought, it is nought, saith every buyer: and when he is gone away, then he will boast.
15Sui neh lungvang he khawk mai dae, mingnah hmuilai he tah umponah hnopai bangla kuel.
15There is gold, and a multitude of jewels: but the lips of knowledge are a precious vessel.
16Kholong ham rhi a khang pah vaengkah a himbai neh kholong nu, kholong nu ham a laikoi pah te khaw lo laeh.
16Take away the garment of him that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from him for strangers.
17Laithae buh he hlang hamla tui dae, a hnukah a ka dongah lungcang muep baetawt.
17The bread of lying is sweet to a man: but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18Kopoek he cilsuep neh cikngae sak lamtah, caemtloek khaw a niing khueh lah.
18Designs are strengthened by counsels: and wars are to be managed by governments.
19Baecenol he caemtuh loh a hliphen tih a caeh puei. Te dongah a ka neh aka hloih te rhikhang pah boeh.
19Meddle not with him that revealeth secrets, and walketh deceitfully, and openeth wide his lips.
20A manu neh a napa aka hnaep tah a hmaithoi a thih pah vetih, yinthuem kah yinthuem ah hmaisuep la om ni.
20He that curseth his father, and mother, his lamp shall be put out in the midst of darkness.
21Rho he khaw a lamhma lah banlak a kawt dae, a hmailong ah a yoethen mahpawh.
21The inheritance gotten hastily in the beginning, in the end shall be without a blessing.
22A thae te, “Ka thuung van ni,” ti nah boeh. BOEIPA mah lamtawn lamtah namah te ng'khang bitni.
22Say not: I will return evil: wait for the Lord and he will deliver thee.
23Coilung neh coilung khaw BOEIPA kah a tueilaehkoi ni. Te dongah hlangthai palat kah cooi tah a then moenih.
23Diverse weights are an abomination before the Lord: a deceitful balance is not good.
24Hlang kah a khokan he BOEIPA taeng lamkah ni. Te dongah hlang loh a longpuei te metlam a yakming eh?
24The steps of man are guided by the Lord: but who is the man that can understand his own way?
25Hmuencim te a cukhat thil tih olcaeng hnukah a hnukdawn te hlang ham hlaeh la om.
25It is ruin to a man to devour holy ones, and after vows to retract.
26Manghai aka cueih loh halang rhoek te a thaek tih, amih te lengkho neh a paluet thil.
26A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth over them the wheel.
27BOEIPA kah hmaithoi long tah hlang kah a hiil neh a bungko kah a khui khaw boeih a thaih.
27The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, which searcheth all the hidden things of the bowels.
28Sitlohnah neh oltak loh manghai te a kueinah tih, sitlohnah loh a ngolkhoel a duel pah.
28Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is strengthened by clemency.
29Tongpang rhoek kah a thadueng tah amamih kah a boei a mang la om tih, sampok he khaw patong rhoek kah rhuepomnah ni.
29The joy of young men is their strength: and the dignity of old men, their grey hairs.
30Tloh kah a hma a met vanbangla, bungko khui kah hmasoe loh a thae a cing sak.
30The blueness of a wound shall wipe away evils: and stripes in the more inward parts of the belly.
