1以色列 王 約哈斯 的兒子 約阿施 第二年， 猶大 王 約阿施 的兒子 亞瑪謝 登基。
1In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.
2他登基的時候年二十五歲，在 耶路撒冷 作王二十九年。他母親名叫 約耶但 ，是 耶路撒冷 人。
2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3亞瑪謝 行耶和華眼中看為正的事，但不如他祖 大衛 ，乃效法他父 約阿施 一切所行的；
3And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did according to all that Joash his father had done.
4只是邱壇還沒有廢去，百姓仍在那裏獻祭燒香。
4Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and offered in the high places.
5國一堅定，就把殺他父王的臣僕殺了，
5And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants who had slain the king his father;
6卻沒有治死殺王之人的兒子，是照 摩西 律法書上耶和華所吩咐的說：「不可因子殺父，也不可因父殺子，各人要為本身的罪而死。」
6but the children of the murderers he put not to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded saying: 'The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.'
7亞瑪謝 在 鹽谷 殺了 以東 人一萬，又攻取了 西拉 ，改名叫 約帖 ，直到今日。
7He slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, unto this day.
8那時， 亞瑪謝 差遣使者去見 耶戶 的孫子 約哈斯 的兒子 以色列 王 約阿施 ，說：「你來，我們二人相見 於戰場 。」
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying: 'Come, let us look one another in the face.'
9以色列 王 約阿施 差遣使者去見 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 ，說：「 黎巴嫩 的蒺藜差遣使者去見 黎巴嫩 的香柏樹，說：將你的女兒給我兒子為妻。後來 黎巴嫩 有一個野獸經過，把蒺藜踐踏了。
9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying: 'The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife; and there passed by the wild beasts that were in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
10你打敗了 以東 人就心高氣傲，你以此為榮耀，在家裏安居就罷了，為何要惹禍，使自己和 猶大 國一同敗亡呢？」
10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and will thy heart lift thee up? glory therein, and remain at home; for why shouldest thou meddle with evil, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11亞瑪謝 卻不肯聽這話。於是 以色列 王 約阿施 上來，在 猶大 的 伯‧示麥 與 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 相見 於戰場 。
11But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12猶大 人敗在 以色列 人面前，各自逃回家裏去了。
12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.
13以色列 王 約阿施 在 伯‧示麥 擒住 亞哈謝 的孫子、 約阿施 的兒子 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 ，就來到 耶路撒冷 ，拆毀 耶路撒冷 的城牆，從 以法蓮 門直到 角門 共四百肘，
13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14又將耶和華殿裏與王宮府庫裏所有的金銀和器皿都拿了去，並帶人去為質，就回 撒馬利亞 去了。
14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
15約阿施 其餘所行的事和他的勇力，並與 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 爭戰的事，都寫在 以色列 諸王記上。
15Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16約阿施 與他列祖同睡，葬在 撒馬利亞 ， 以色列 諸王的墳地裏。他兒子 耶羅波安 接續他作王。
16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17以色列 王 約哈斯 的兒子 約阿施 死後， 猶大 王 約阿施 的兒子 亞瑪謝 又活了十五年。
17And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18亞瑪謝 其餘的事都寫在 猶大 列王記上。
18Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19耶路撒冷 有人背叛 亞瑪謝 ，他就逃到 拉吉 ；叛黨卻打發人到 拉吉 將他殺了。
19And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20人就用馬將他的屍首馱到 耶路撒冷 ，葬在 大衛城 他列祖的墳地裏。
20And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21猶大 眾民立 亞瑪謝 的兒子 亞撒利雅 接續他父作王，那時他年十六歲。
21And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
22亞瑪謝 與他列祖同睡之後， 亞撒利雅 收回 以拉他 仍歸 猶大 ，又重新修理。
22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23猶大 王 約阿施 的兒子 亞瑪謝 十五年， 以色列 王 約阿施 的兒子 耶羅波安 在 撒馬利亞 登基，作王四十一年。
23In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，不離開 尼八 的兒子 耶羅波安 使 以色列 人陷在罪裏的一切罪。
24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
25他收回 以色列 邊界之地，從 哈馬口 直到 亞拉巴海 ，正如耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝藉他僕人 迦特希弗 人 亞米太 的兒子先知 約拿 所說的。
25He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath unto the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.
26因為耶和華看見 以色列 人甚是艱苦，無論困住的、自由的都沒有了，也無人幫助 以色列 人。
26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.
27耶和華並沒有說要將 以色列 的名從天下塗抹，乃藉 約阿施 的兒子 耶羅波安 拯救他們。
27And the LORD said not that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28耶羅波安 其餘的事，凡他所行的和他的勇力，他怎樣爭戰，怎樣收回 大馬士革 和 先前屬 猶大 的 哈馬 歸 以色列 ，都寫在 以色列 諸王記上。
28Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, for Judah in Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29耶羅波安 與他列祖 以色列 諸王同睡。他兒子 撒迦利雅 接續他作王。
29And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
