1約西亞 登基的時候年八歲，在 耶路撒冷 作王三十一年。他母親名叫 耶底大 ，是 波斯加 人 亞大雅 的女兒。
1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.
2約西亞 行耶和華眼中看為正的事，行他祖 大衛 一切所行的，不偏左右。
2And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3約西亞 王十八年，王差遣 米書蘭 的孫子、 亞薩利 的兒子－書記 沙番 上耶和華殿去，吩咐他說：
3And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying.
4「你去見大祭司 希勒家 ，使他將奉到耶和華殿的銀子，就是守門的從民中收聚的銀子，數算數算，
4'Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people;
5交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人，使他們轉交耶和華殿裏做工的人，好修理殿的破壞之處，
5and let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of the LORD; and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house;
6就是轉交木匠和工人，並瓦匠，又買木料和鑿成的石頭修理殿宇，
6unto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons; and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.' —
7將銀子交在辦事的人手裏，不與他們算帳，因為他們辦事誠實。」
7Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully.
8大祭司 希勒家 對書記 沙番 說：「我在耶和華殿裏得了律法書。」 希勒家 將書遞給 沙番 ， 沙番 就看了。
8And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe: 'I have found the book of the Law in the house of the LORD.' And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9書記 沙番 到王那裏，回覆王說：「你的僕人已將殿裏的銀子倒出數算，交給耶和華殿裏辦事的人了。」
9And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought back word unto the king, and said: 'Thy servants have poured out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.'
10書記 沙番 又對王說：「祭司 希勒家 遞給我一卷書。」 沙番 就在王面前讀那書。
10And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying: 'Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book.' And Shaphan read it before the king.
11王聽見律法書上的話，便撕裂衣服，
11And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the Law, that he rent his clothes.
12吩咐祭司 希勒家 與 沙番 的兒子 亞希甘 、 米該亞 的兒子 亞革波 、書記 沙番 和王的臣僕 亞撒雅 ，說：
12And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying:
13「你們去為我、為民、為 猶大 眾人，以這書上的話求問耶和華；因為我們列祖沒有聽從這書上的言語，沒有遵着書上所吩咐我們的去行，耶和華就向我們大發烈怒。」
13'Go ye, inquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.'
14於是，祭司 希勒家 和 亞希甘 、 亞革波 、 沙番 、 亞撒雅 都去見女先知 戶勒大 。 戶勒大 是掌管禮服 沙龍 的妻； 沙龍 是 哈珥哈斯 的孫子、 特瓦 的兒子。 戶勒大 住在 耶路撒冷 第二區。他們請問於她。
14So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe — now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter — and they spoke with her.
15她對他們說：「耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝如此說：『你們可以回覆那差遣你們來見我的人說，
15And she said unto them: 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Tell ye the man that sent you unto me:
16耶和華如此說：我必照着 猶大 王所讀那書上的一切話，降禍與這地和其上的居民。
16Thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read;
17因為他們離棄我，向別神燒香，用他們手所做的惹我發怒，所以我的忿怒必向這地發作，總不止息。』
17because they have forsaken Me, and have offered unto other gods, that they might provoke Me with all the work of their hands; therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched.
18然而，差遣你們來求問耶和華的 猶大 王，你們要這樣回覆他說：『耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝如此說：至於你所聽見的話，
18But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him: Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard,
19就是聽見我指着這地和其上的居民所說、要使這地變為荒場、民受咒詛的話，你便心裏敬服，在我面前自卑，撕裂衣服，向我哭泣，因此我應允了你。這是我－耶和華說的。
19because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become an astonishment and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before Me, I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
20我必使你平平安安地歸到墳墓到你列祖那裏；我要降與這地的一切災禍，你也不致親眼看見。』」他們就回覆王去了。
20Therefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil which I will bring upon this place.' And they brought back word unto the king.
